A lot of people just copy and art reference, without thinking of things like tension, material, light source, etc... Thanks for bringing these to everyone's attention!
Best video on folds I've seen here. It explains step by step the stages and their patterns and it doesn't just tell you their names and then just draws them
Here in Italy, with my kid, we are trying to follow your fundamentals (and practicing English too). Would be nice to have other tutorials for first timers. Thanks for your work.
When I was first learning how to shade, we did all these folds in fabric, different fabrics and light sources. It was hard at first, but now it's like I don't even think about it. Putting the terminology to what I'm already doing is really helpful.
The pencil you are using is darker than the humanity futur. I am surprised a 4B can be that dark. Drawing fabric is a monster for every beginner. Thank you for the tutorial. Very useful.
I'm a complete beginner in drawing and these tips helped A LOT, I liked the way you explain things and really couldn't find like this clear, detailed video. I'd really appreciate if you could make more tips or basics drawing videos.
This is a most excellent video. Thank you. I feel like the folds and creases of my fear and ignorance, have been, well and truly, ironed out. Thank you, most sincerely.
Another excellent lesson, well done. I do love drawing drapery. As you said, if it is well done it brings a drawing to life. Thank you for taking the time to post this video.
this is pretty cool my fav is the follow along creature ones that we just concept art it by random circles and shapes. I just feel like I can unleash so much in that style
The fact he missed a line going up for one of the bottom of the drop folds drove me crazy. He kept saying "account for all of them" and darkening the curvy part and drawing right past it 😂😂
@@bobbyrebholz2183 nobody is perfect man and you're LIGHTYEARS ahead of me in skill so it's actually comforting to know I don't have to be a perfectionist 😁. Love the videos!
@@IngeniousOutdoors I've been drawing for decades and I still mess up. It's all part of the learning process. When we mess up, THAT is the exact moment we get better because our brain notices the mistake and subconsciously makes us aware of it the next time.
As much as I love the creatures you create and the techniques you explain, it’s pretty cool to see you teach and cover other aspects in drawing. Thanks Bobby 🦶
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so clear and helpful, it’s incredible how a concept I struggled so much to understand through years was explained to me perfectly in half an hour. Would you ever consider doing a tutorial on lighting placement and shadows? Thank you again for your amazing work! Hope you keep blessing us with the new videos 🙌✨
Thanks for the lessons. You broke down some challenges I've been struggling with for years.....Folds in fabric and skin are one of, if not the most important thing artist should learn. If you look at the Classic work from Renaissance forward, you'll see folds a million times. They make up such a large part of that art. I can't help but spend so much time looking and studdling them whenever I see such works. Recognizing them (on fabric or skin) and knowing how they "work" is a must for all artist.
Hi, I don't try to draw fabric as I think it is too difficult, but having watched this tutorial I might try it. Thank you so much for your skills in teaching and draughtsmanship. Excellent video.
Hi, i recently discovered this channel and find it really inspiring. Your art style is pretty much the style i'm striving for, and one of the best here on youtube. At least for my personal taste. I'm just a hobbyist and don't have that much time to invest in drawing, but it's all about the journey :) One of the things I'm always struggeling with, is how to avoid symmetry and patterns. In this video you are doing a lot of "random" lines for the foldings. When I'm trying something like this it always seems a bit too organized. It doesn't matter if I'm trying to draw tree branches, mountain lines, creature textures,... they always tend to look too "perfect". So I really would appreciate some tipps or an episode about how to avoid this or how to practice this "natural chaoticness".
The force of gravity acts just downwards, it doesn't exert a lateral or compressive force. The reason the folds appear is a combination of the tension between where the cloth hangs and the gravity (just pulls it down), the material and the weave of the fabric (affects drape and elasticity), the friction at contact points (the friction between the curtain rod and the fabric maintains the gathered state of the curtain) and so on.
Will you do some more of these wrinkles and folds or how clothing is loose and forms to body parts. Basically how clothes react to a character body parts?🦶
FYI, the best art book I've seen is Sketching MANGA Style Vol 1: Sketching as Composition Planning. It has a girl with a frog hood on the cover... in a can. I know it makes no sense, but the book shows pretty good sketches.. and then how to make them better with a side by side comparison.
Can you make a video about how to draw with reference? since you already made a video about how to draw without reference. I'm wondering if it's a good content if you make a video about how to draw with reference so that we can see the techniques to use especially how do you draw the shadows and other techniques?
Hey are you keen to drawing felines? would be nice to have a video about how to differentiate and draw tigers, lions, saber tooth, and other felines they are all similar but have little things that separate them from each other
One of my high school teachers taught me that the 'hard to do' things are - because, like you did within the first 30 seconds - told that it's hard. It's in the wording. Call it 'suggestion' or 'hypnosis', it goes into our brain that it's hard or impossible, and we do shit jobs of it without our efforts even having a chance to try.
My problem is ..I know these rules...but still my folds look very weird..as if they don't make sense most of the times 😭 But thank you..this was a very good video

I was in the middle of screwing up another drawing that has fabrics in it, then this pops up and saved my drawing, thank you,
A lot of people just copy and art reference, without thinking of things like tension, material, light source, etc...
Thanks for bringing these to everyone's attention!
Thanks, man! It's the bare bones of drawing that I'm trying to teach so everyone can begin with the right approach.

Thank u so much very helpfull! I am really waitin for this leviathan drawing session!! Maybe in Gustave Dore style?
Great stuff. It's all about observation, really. Amazing how you can get the effect with just a few strokes.

You're very talented! I can't draw well at all, lol.

It's nice to see you're trying out something new, other than creature design.
My channel will always be about creatures but a foundation drawing playlist is going to be included.

I still barely know how to draw clothes I just free ball it on intuition
I'm on the autism spectrum, and my most feared thing to draw are faces.
Faces are a priority lesson that I will be getting to very soon.
Sir. Is it possible for you to upload mere foundation drawings videos? 😊
More are on the way!
