Mileena is actually one of the easiest CPU to fight against if you use the AI camping method. Walk up to her and jump kick immediately, she'll try to jump into the air and use her Air Sai's to air to air you, the thing is your immediate jump kick will beat her everytime, you just have to make sure you're close enough to land the jump kick before the Air Sai's come out. You basically repeat this until she loses. Though this is also dependent on how far or low on the totem pole she is, if she's an earlier character you fight she won't do the Air Sai so the above method won't work, but if shes in the middle to late on the totem pole she'll try to Air Sai you every time you jump making the above tactic legit.
@@SeetheAutmon he means the jumping air Sai throws she uses to counter your jump towards her. If you jump up but dont spin and press high kick quickly you will beat her jumping air Sai throws. Watching you struggle on the exact same enemies as me back in the day makes me feel so much better about my then selfs MK skills. 🤣 It's pretty interesting seeing that they designed it like that.
This game reads your inputs and reacts almost instantly. 90 percent of the time an uppercut will be countered with an uppercut. The secret to an uppercut is their arm is part of the hit box. So if you can time it where your uppercut hits their hand you have a better chance of connecting and not being countered. But it varies by character and it has to be timed perfectly.
Can you imagine how many quarters it took me to beat MK2 back in 1993/94? The ONLY person I had zero problem beating Kintaro with was Kitana and Jax was the first one I beat Shao Khan with.
After all this time it's still hard to come back to the classic MK games. The developers built input reading for the A.I. and passed it off as "difficulty" when in reality it was to eat quarters. At the 8:14 mark as you attempt to sweep Raiden as he is landing from a forward jump; he literally does not touch the ground, jumps backwards and dodges the sweep. I'm disappointed the code will not be revisited as classic MK is available in miniature arcade cabinets I would love to own but the games themselves are not worth revisiting.
Use kitana and just tap back repeatedly , once they are close use the fan lift move to stun them , then combo them with jump kick , arial fan and superman punch.
Back in the day, the pizza joint I used to work for had an MK2 machine in their arcade area and I would frequently play it while waiting to give a coworker a ride or for my shift to start. I eventually got to the point where I could consistently beat it on a single credit with several characters. Unfortunately, you can't really "play" the game against the AI in MK2. The AI in MK2 is incredibly cheap and the only way to get through it is by learning the AI's "pattern" and taking advantage of it. There is actually a video that looks at the MK2 code to see why the AI was so cheap: ua-cam.com/video/KUttRUpVnq4/v-deo.html
Most of the real people players I've played against are cheaper than the AI for MK2. They get one trick/combo that works for them, then they spam it. IDK the entire coding for the game, but I was able to cruise through the arcade m ode just using different openers to get quick 2-4 hit combo/juggles. As long as you don't repeat too often the AI seems to get caught in enough to justify the risk of getting punished.
LOL. This game was programmed to steal your quarters. It's a commom Midway practice. The AI scales the dificulty after the first fight and then does input reading to kick your ass. You have to exploit it to beat the game, the easier way is to fall back near the end of the stage, just leave a little space between you and the wall, then back jump with kick. The AI will jump with you to enclose you, and the kick will connect. Then just repeat until you win.
AI was reading minds out here. Especially since it was designed that way 😂. It’s programming allows for the AI to literally not only read your input but to counter AND ignore your frames. (Quarter Draining techs lol). Take a look at the code sometime. They had Ballz for this. All in all, Nice gameplay! You actually figured out the LAME strat for this. Jump backwards, then jump forwards with HK
The 90s gaming scene was just built different than nowadays. There was no internet like today... not whinning like there's today (from public and critic)... also we overall werent going cry and rage quit just because of a difficulty... so the devs felt like doing all that dirty coding in the old games. That's the mark of that era.
@@carlosaugusto9821 Back then, people didn’t have the ability to call out cheap developers on their bullshit in videos you could easily access. Not even all games did this, just MK
First time i played MKII was in 90's on keyboard only input. I had absolutely no idea that devs made this game to scam people out of their money in arcades. Well as a teenager back then i had plenty of time to learn how to beat that ai. It literally scales. First round is opponent is always easy. Then AI counter bias that reads your input goes from 1 to 9 for subsequent opponents. If you lose and continue 2 times in a row the bias is reduced for that opponent by 1. If you win however it goes back up again for next opponent.
the problem is the game actively cheated. it had tons of invincibility where you had none and was coded to read uppercuts and throws as you input them. you had to exploit the AI's tendency to act weird when you were cornered to actually win which is a shame because outside of that it was fine. as kids we never got it at the arcade, but its been proven.
Truen, while my 1st experience with MK2 was it's SNES port, it had most of the same AI issues and was fun to figure out how to make it dumb enough to cheese it.
Although that's the norm of old classic fgs. It started with SF2. Cpu chars with different parameters than the human played chars, absurd reactions, unfair boss. MK just followed the trend.
@@carlosaugusto9821 SF2 AI cheated on a whole nother level. When a charge character like Guile can throw a sonic boom and then do a flash kick while moving forward. He was almost impossible to beat.
I had this on the Genesis as well. I mostly played with my older brother (whooped his ass) but, when it came to the arcade ladder, for some reason, when we were kids he could always beat the game but, I never could.
MKII AI is incredibly unfair, but also easily exploited, as they are all programmed to do X when you do Y,. Jax for example can put everyone in an air throw loop until Kintaro. Shao Kahn is cakewalk too - just stand in place and spam LK - it will stop all of his attacks. I think Kintaro is the only somewhat difficult opponent as he is harder to exploit than most.
The MK2 AI is incredibly cheap, in otherwise you can't fight it like you would a normal player. However the AI because of how its programmed is prone to being AI camped, each character basically has a AI camping method that works against them.
Just watched a documentary that went over how MK2 AI was the most broken AI of any fighting game. However there is a single trick you can use to cheat the game, and apparently JWong didn't know it xD
People tend to forget how hard the original Mortal Kombat trilogy. MK 2 is hardest then all of them. I remember when this game came out in 93. My older brother was excited for this game especially he beat MK 1 in the arcade. It took my brother the whole summer of 93 at 7 eleven to not only get extremely good. But to finally beat Shao Kahn. His go to person was Kitana. That because he did fan lift to fan throw while in the air and then using flying punch. That 7 eleven machine made countless of quarters off him. But he was able to said beat MK 2 in first year when the game came out. After that he quit video games because the amount hours and money he put just to beat the game.
"When you talk to fast in MK2 the A.i can hear you," then they get real chessy! Uppercut your Uppecut!! Foot sweep your ice back." Shang Tsung got real greasy 🤣🤣
Best combo with Kitano is jump kick fan toss jump kick, or uppercut. You can start to play with ducking low punch to juggle, and the square wave punch into fantoss is gross, followed by ducking low punches into uppercut

@@carlosaugusto9821 So basically the devs were bigger assholes than now and we pretend that was a good thing
@@carlosaugusto9821 Back then, people didn’t have the ability to call out cheap developers on their bullshit in videos you could easily access. Not even all games did this, just MK
@@carlosaugusto9821 let's call it like it is we were getting robbed back then
First time i played MKII was in 90's on keyboard only input.
The AI has way too many advantages....
Nice video! I love the MK Kontent!
Threw away so many quarters in the arcade doing story mode 😂🤣😂🤣
Damn Justin, that whole Shang Tang sequecing had me dying! This has been one your funniest videos.
the problem is the game actively cheated. it had tons of invincibility where you had none and was coded to read uppercuts and throws as you input them. you had to exploit the AI's tendency to act weird when you were cornered to actually win which is a shame because outside of that it was fine. as kids we never got it at the arcade, but its been proven.
It sucks when you have to cheese to win
I remember playing this and hating life for a while. Like I couldn't look at my Genesis for a week, because I was gonna throw it out my window.
This is how I started beating him almost 90 percent of the time. Even getting double flawless about 30 -50 percent of the time
Jax has a air throw. Block in air. If you forward jump kick into block button u do a backbreaker. Or do a cross up jump kick into back breaker.
My favorite MK game.
Needs a remake or even a remaster
3:30 I'm vaguely sure the BGM is a KOF theme but which theme is this?
That's Ikari Warriors theme from KOF 2000.
@@clarencegutsy7309 2000! Of course. That's why I had a hard time finding it on UA-cam. I was looking in the Orochi Saga OST lol. Thanks, man.
@@chestercastaneda4920 NP brother, it's a badass song.
That Kintaro combo was insane.
that was vicious 🤣
Home port glitch lol that didn’t work in the arcade. used to do it on the snes and went to the arcade and tried it and it didn’t work
10:36
"What?"
"Yo!"
"STOP!"
"BRUH!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The MK2 AI is incredibly cheap, in otherwise you can't fight it like you would a normal player. However the AI because of how its programmed is prone to being AI camped, each character basically has a AI camping method that works against them.
This is giving me flashbacks . Only ever play against the younger brother. No cousins. No ai.. just the younger brother.
Just watched a documentary that went over how MK2 AI was the most broken AI of any fighting game.
However there is a single trick you can use to cheat the game, and apparently JWong didn't know it xD
11:00 I love the song of church in SNK vs Capcom Chaos.
11:36 😳😳😂😂🤣🤣
I'm letting you know MK2 is one of the cheapest In the series but my favorite! Love your vids Justin!
When I was young, I could only beat the game with meelina
Same. To this day she's the only one I've ever beat mk2 with
This was one of those games that made me rage kick the arcade as a kid. Though it has become my favorite over the years.
Hey man does anyone know the song at 12:35 when shao kahn shows up? :P
SNK vs Capcom Chaos OST - Void
11:51 "But ages of Mortal Kombat have begun to tear at the fabric of the realms"
Man, I’m hooked on your videos. I don’t even play fighting games bro! Rooting for your continued success
The super Mario world jump noise had me dead 💀 this was funny af and entertaining
"When you talk to fast in MK2 the A.i can hear you," then they get real chessy! Uppercut your Uppecut!! Foot sweep your ice back." Shang Tsung got real greasy 🤣🤣
4:46 And I quote one of my favorite players, "Welcome to the real world! You gonna learn today, son!"
Best combo with Kitano is jump kick fan toss jump kick, or uppercut. You can start to play with ducking low punch to juggle, and the square wave punch into fantoss is gross, followed by ducking low punches into uppercut
JW: it's your boy Jus
MK: YOU GON LEARN TODAY!!!
"Bro, what am I gonna do with Shang Tsung?"
Me, at my 50th coin: yeah.
11:37 lol are you kidding me 😂
For Shao Kahn. Go to the corner and Crouch block in the corner. After every shoulder rush you block uppercut him. Then follow up with a projectile
JWong: Toasty!
Everyone who played this game: HIT Start and Down!
This video of Justin playing mk 2 was fun af
9:00
If that was your editor that put that theme in that spot, Hes a whole Demon!!!
The Mr. Karate SYAH SYAH SYAAAAAH theme that haunts Justin in his dreams. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
