If it's so easy to ed boon why don't he make another mortal kombat game part 11 if it's so easy
@@closedlane5027 because the original company went bankrupt.
After shelling out so many games things got stale and the title went under. Sadly the only way to keep the game alive was to sell the ip.
Now it suffers the same fate by the hand of WB studios.
they have forced "Nether Realm" to shell out fighting games just as fast.
Games that are much more visually demanding.
Games that take blood sweat and tears to make.
(Mk.vs.DC.-MKps3-injustice-MKxps4-
Injustice 2- and the soon to be MK11)....
Then injustice 3 or God knows what eals.
THERE KILLING THEM.
these people are being treated like slaves.
MK11 needs to last at least 3 years.
If they keep up this old trend there going to kill nether realm just like the original creators killed themselves.
It's just not right!!!
@@atlantashea wow really I know for a fact a lot people didn't know all that happened that's messed up
@@atlantashea god knows what's going on and remember ain't nobody is in control of the world but him they have to answer to him about it all wait and see 😇😇😇
@@atlantashea and did they really kill themselves
This is the most 90's thing ever.
Love it!
That's why it's great.
Actually It Is But The Most Ungrateful People Dont Even Appreciate This Video Game And To Trilogy
Hear hear
U don't like it
Tobias should have never left the MK team. He truly brought these characters to life.
It was all fault of Ed Bunda... I mean, Boon, who wanted to take it all over for himself.
@@viniciusvalois2634 NO IT WASN'T! Him and John are still good friends to this day, Tobias simply wanted fresh air since he's been working on Midway for SEVERAL YEARS ON THE SAME FRANCHISE. Too bad he hasn't had the same success outside of MK, but can't blame him for trying new things.
Let tobias need a chance
I love the fact Sheeva was called She-goro, Cyrax was Mustard, and Sektor was Ketchup as they didn't have the names yet
I try to stay away from nostalgia and keep my head out of the past, but damn I miss the 90s. Got good vibes watching this
Why
Brother, do not deprive your mind of the steps you have taken.
@@etienne18777 Yes.
This is not nostalgia, this is history.
I try so too but modern society is so fucked up that I retreat to the 80's and 90's and I know I should not.
Because he stayed with Midway and stuck with the franchise, people tend to view Ed Boon as the "father" of MK. But John Tobias really deserves a LOT of credit for most of what we love about the classic trilogy, as he pretty much came up with all of the characters, lore and story bits that we care about most. He had/has a fantastic long-thread of posts on Twitter detailing many behind the scenes tidbits and stories, it was a great read!
Ed Boon said in an interview that John Tobias was the one who knew about the Japanese Mythology.
Can you post a link to that please?
Btw it's actually great that he is back with the team now for MK1 and hopefully for the next instalments!
That Kung Lao drawing @ 6:09 is insanely good.
Yeah it is
Dan's work is just stellar. After almost 3 decades is still awesome
George Papagiannis Toasty
IMHO his work was way more prevalent en early titles
Ed hasn't had that light in his eyes for mortal Kombat in years.
True!
He actually looks like he's having fun and has a sense of humor
These days he acts like a puppet
I'd kill for a remake with motion capture and actors for a MK game, it just looks so phenomenal.
Thank u
that almost happened. it's a shame it didn't
@@givemysundaeback What do you mean?
@@drumbeard They were working on remakes for the arcade titles in about 2013. They were stuck in development hell for years and eventually canceled.
@@givemysundaeback That's a shame. Maybe we'd get remakes with a fair difficulty, cause that's the only reason I hate to play the OGs against the AI.
In the 90's I would skip highschool to go down to the local arcade to watch let alone play mkll mkl & sfll, and then go home to get a beating from my parents cause school rung up home wondering where I've been all week..good times..
Worth it!
Me too bro!!! Great memories from '90's

Kung Lao is in front of the camera doing his moves and Ed is just sitting on his ass snacking, lol.
well hes the director so he could see his moves in reverse
He is actually looking at a directors monitor which shows him the complete shot as how the camera sees it
Man I wanna play MK3 rn. The characters the music the sound the graphics are impeccable.
I love the people who made Mortal Kombat, a real game changer of the century.
Holy crap what a fun place to work.....
You can work at an indie game studio to capture the same feeling. I would avoid the big game companies.
@@Indienads yeah I definitely would work for a small indie gaming company as a character designer. Seems like a more chill, fun relaxing environment.
MK will always be my childhood, Thank you Ed boon, Tobias and all staff and actors for creating the mother of fighting games
Mk2 then street fighter 2
I can't get over how these costumes are better than the ones in mortal kombat annihilation
I know, right?!
I can't get over how these costumes, actors and actresses are better than the ones in mortal kombat 1 2023

The animations in this game were hella smooth. The music and the fatalities were so gritty. Scarred me for quite some time as the avatars looked like real people.
Ooooh my goodness Sonia just took my heart
Oof, right in the childhood. A better time. I miss the arcades...
The good ol days
Agreed
thank god we hav yestercades here in Westfield nj
God I miss the 90's.....
Back when you stood beside your opponent. Good times
the amount of work that went into making this game from 1995 is insane.
they released another behind the scnees for mk deadly alliance in 2001 and it was even bigger teams and more work involved.
i can only imagine just how much work and manpower is needed to make a mortal kombat game now. it's just mind boggling.
Funnily enough, I finished the newly released Mortal Kombat 1 (reboot/reset) today and the credits list rolled for like 10-15 minutes.
@@mattmcilwhan you have teams of writers teams of programers teams of artists etc like if deadly alliance had 50 people working on it than mk1 had 500 or something
Props to John Tobias for creating timeless character designs that have held up for 30 years!
Ed Boon didn't age... Like, at ALL.
Hmmm....nah. He looks really spent these days.
This is correct. So the statement of Geekforever is simply bull..
he just absorbs souls of his employees
Anti Phase Ed Boon is actually Shang Tsung disguised as him
@@MrTheil yeah that's what i meant
Not only did these very talented guys create something with its own comic story, they made a video game that marked generations
And to whoever came up with the character Kabal: thank you for making him such a badass
Kabal is by far the go-to mk3 character.
Noob Saibot & Kabal are currently my most favorite but almost all of them are so fucking badass!
This looked like such a fun project to be a part of.
I come back here every few months to feel old

@@imdifferentchet fo real that shiz looked rough and painful but it was hilarious to watch🤣
Hard working, fun loving, personalities are what made old games what they are.
I know the vast majority of these people. never thought in a million years that would ever happen. Mortal Kombat 3 was seriously an underrated gem that was unfairly disrespected by everyone in 1995. there were so many great fighting games that year.
Not uNdErRaTeD, people's complaints were justified: no classic characters, no ninjas, lazy finishers and a much brighter atmosphere than MKII. The atmosphere stuff people overlooked when UMK3 was released.
And no one disrespected the game, don't invent drama.
mk2 classic another level
Thanks to the Ed boon and company you guys made my 90s childhood fun back in the day
This team seems like the ideal size for game development, everyone is on the same page and equally enthusiastic about their work.
Tough to imagine the 400+ staff sizes of AAA games being able to convey a cohesive vision across the massive lengths of time it takes to make a modern game.
It's true that most of the greatest IP and classic games are a result of smaller and more cohesive dev teams; I believe every good thing has an initial time frame and then when success happens the give way to corporate control changes the routine and program
I read that 989 studios; Midway; Pitbull Syndicate and various other studios were all absorbed and absolved into different entities by the middle of the 2000s; Rockstar Games had a small team who experienced great success in the early 2000s within a decade the team had fractured and broken apart; Houser and Benzies fell away and it ended sometimes
By 99 Mortal Kombat dev team had fractured; Great run of games in the 2000s but changing times and technology add so much pressure Shaolin Monks truly was one of the greatest games
It's so amazing to actually be able to have that little time travel back to the early days!
this is incredibly 90's and i love it
Now I'm not saying the later versions are not fun at all, cuz they are,
But I have to say, the earlier MK games had way more life in them, watching this just truly proves the love and excitement into them.
Wish they bring it back one day.
Why nobody seems to watch this awesome channel? Im quite lucky got some reccomendation from UA-cam about this channel

I remember this game like it was yesterday. This was my favorite game and will probably be my most favorite. I was pretty good at Kombat 3 and loved the graphics. The newly ones look too animated

The music give me chills, goosebumps, what a great days with UMK3 in SNES, MK1 and MK2 too but UMK3 was my fav
So awesome, dealing with abstraction, and transforming it in reality, the most amazing level of art ...
best fighting game ever made ..
Nope Mk2 is best
Too many infinite combos make it a game of "who hit first" rather than a game of tactics.
MK 3 a huge disappointment, dog. MK 2 and Ultimate MK 3 are the best
MKII

Thank you for contributing to giving me a Fun and Safe childhood.
First Mortal Kombat game I got was MK3 for the SNES. They did quite well with the difficulty scaling in the AI in MK3, but, UMK3 and Trilogy was ridiculous. Constantly countered for everything.
Childhood memories...❤️❤️❤️ I love this game....some brutality and fatalities still in my mind😁
It's great to see the whole design team looking like they had fun making the game.

You have done an incredible job. Thanks to that, the 90s were the best they could possibly be😀❤
The good old days. 🥲
The first videogame I had. When I was 8 my parents bought me the PSX with the platinum edition of this game. Fell in love instantly.
The 90's were a better time and people were better back then before social media.
Ah, back when artists made games. Back when you could say things without having to go home that night and lay sleepless in bed worrying about potentially getting sued into next week. Good times.
Everyone's explaining stuff while Rayden and Sektor are just running around messing with eachother
Thanks to creators for this fascinating game franchise i had the pleasure to play in my junior high school days and its marvellous soundtracks. It's a pleasure to watch behind the scenes.
11:40 Killer Instinct arcade
5:27 They got his name right there, then in the next scene he's credited as "Rayden". Ha.
Awesome video! It's great to see a creation of such legend!
They look more badass on camera than they do in the game!
I can't think of a more fun project to be a part of than the first 3 MK games.
I love to stumble on a random MK video that shows me something that I've never seen before. Awesome stuff. Ty!
I loved this game as kid and played it so religiously that key combinations got in to my muscle memory. I could hit combos with blind fold. (16bit version ) on box controllers with joy stick. Use to be crazy for it back in 2000.
This is first time when I am seeing the people who actually made it. Love to you guys for making this awesome game. No game has been able to provide that arcade joy till date. Now computer games are like .. you press couple of keys and a lot happens on the screen. But MK3 was like .. you have remember and do it right everytime combos which involved pressing the keys 10-15 times in correct order and moving the joystick simultaneously.
Love for this game will die in my heart... It makes to kid again. Lots of love guys 👍

Recently I have revived my love for this game and it feels even more special now because it somehow makes me feel at home because it has been part of my childhood and now that I'm grown I get to appreciate it even more as the game has became so much more complexed and advanced.
When they planned Noob Saibot gave me chills. My favorite character
i remember being on an arcade bar and u will always find the new MK machine surrunded by kids and volume was always at MAX level. i can remember that feel of "thats the new Mortal Kombat for sure! omg!".
