Thank you for your beautiful reaction! One of ABBA's biggest international hits, "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" is one of their most influential songs. What stands out in the mix is the synthesizer riff, played on an ARP Odyssey. This brought an electronic element into ABBA's disco sound that set the stage for much of the techno music in the post-disco era. Written by the two guys in ABBA, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, this song finds their singer Agnetha Fältskog alone at night, yearning for a man. The song was very popular in clubs, where in the wee hours there were plenty of people looking for a man after midnight. Madonna's "Hung Up" is based on this track, and Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson are included in its songwriting credits. Madonna begged the ABBA songwriters for permission to sample this song and sent an emissary to Stockholm telling them how much she liked their music. This isn't the first ABBA song to repeat the same word three times in the title: In 1976 they released a song called "Money, Money, Money."
In the early morning hours on a bicycle, the fresh country air on my face between tulips and windmills In Holland and the little radio was playing ABBA songs, a nice memory of last year's holiday. 🌺
People that say that abba is a bad group are lying. No abba song is a bad song. Serious though you should listen to all of the songs. 😁 swedens best group and they will never be beaten ❤
remember that ABBA is a swedish pop group, the name is an acrónim with initials of their names, and initialy was two couples: A Agnetha blonde singer B Björn guitarist songwriter B Benny keyboard songwriter A Anni Frida brunette singer "Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" is a song influenced by American disco, after the success of the Bee Gees and the movie 'Saturday night fever " In this song you can see part of the volume and range of voice that the blonde Agnetha has ABBA was preparing his 1979 Tour of America and Europe, in the previous one , They recorded this song and filmed the Official video There is an only video in which all ABBA is seen in the recording studio, including staff musicians (bass, guitarist and drummer) and sound engineer Michel Tretow at the controls, creator of the well-known 'ABBA sound' with his innovative 'wall of sound' multiplication technique (an adaptation of the works of Phill Spector) The introduction and the instrumental ending, that characteristic sound of keyboards, is what Madonna used for her hit "Hung Up" (with the permission of the composers Björn and Benny, granting them share the credits) Surely for the latter, this is the second official ABBA video with the most views on UA-cam and Spotify (behind only "Dancing Queen", in both cases) "Gimme gimme gimme" was released as a single and in the álbum "Greatest Hits 2" it was #3 in UK, don't succes in US Thanks for your lovely and emotional reaction I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs my best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina, South America
that synthesizer riff is an old Germanic Scandinavian melos (the sound of a wind instrument, maybe a flute, a clarinet...) - Benny was in a folk band in the 1960s before Abba - and it's the original Abba style: a combination of folk (and sometimes classical music) with contemporary pop , rock, disco and other styles of music [for example, this style was first clearly expressed 1975 in their hit song 'Sos'; (the late John Lennon from the Beatles since he heard about that song (Sos) - he declared Abba to be the only true successors of the Beatles at the top of the leaderboard of the music world in future) - and in that song, Sos, there is a specific keyboard riff before the chorus; and it is also an old European folk melos] - Benny was the originator of that style of introducing folk melos into modern music and in a modern way... (since that song Sos in 1975, Abba finally secured its key role in the pop culture of the 20th century) Besides, of course, the priceless quality of the Abba girls' vocals, this style of music composition is, in my opinion, a key factor in the big success of this group.
❤ yes, Sos is unavoidable when it comes to Abba.. Also, it would be a shame if you don't hear the standard (studio) version of this song Gimme, gimme, gimme - this version you reacted to is only a short version of this song, because it is intended only for the TV presentation at that time (they were always in a hurry), and since they disbanded not long after - they didn't get to make a video for the official studio version: but some time ago they posted a lyric video of this longer studio version of Gimme, gimme, gimme on their official channel (since I see that you really moved by the voices of our Agnetha and Frida - you must also hear this longer version, because there the girls' voices came out even more in the so-called bridge after the second stanza of this song; after the second repetition of the chorus gimme, gimme, in the third and fourth repetitions a miracle happens with their voices, they really sound angelic unreal - as if they are from that other, eternal world) greetings and listen to the second (the first one, actually) version even if it's in private, you will enjoy 💣💥👍👍👍
ABBA is back......after splitting up 1982 they made a new album 2021 called VOYAGE ....listen to I STILL HAVE FAITH IN YOU - BUMBLEBEE and ODE TO FREEDOM ....you will be impressed of the quality of the 4 members after a pause of 40 years and with knowing of their ages....all four 75 plus
This must be the first time someone cries reacting to this song... you surprised me 😃! Thanks for the reaction! Please... more ABBA 🙏! Take care ✌️ Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗😘👍
Hi Alejandro crying to beautiful and touching music is my weakness. I cry listening to lovely music, even my own original songs 😂 You should see what Abba Chiquitita did to me I was a mess Here you go Chiquitita reaction 🥹 ua-cam.com/video/D8A1hyYr36E/v-deo.html
Make sure you see it live Wembley 1979, so good, ABBA were amazing live, Agnetha and Frida with incredible voices and together just perfect. plus they had good backing singers and great musicians. Also check out Live Sydney, absolutely worth seeing.
You may recognise as Madonna sampled it. Could you please react to to ABBA performing "SOS" in 1975 TV performance? (Much better than official video) Also if you want see an Angel react to ABBA in Poland performing "My love, my life"
Madonna has achieved what only the Fugees have managed to do so far - at least legally. The Queen of Pop snatched a sample from ABBA. The two heads of the famous Swedish pop band, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, granted Madonna excerpts from the hit “Gimme Gimme Gimme” for her single “Hung Up”. Previously, only the Fugees had been allowed to use excerpts from the Abba song “The Name Of The Game” for “Rumble In The Jungle” (1996). Excellent reaction. ABBA were and are gigantic and always will be.
They won't be reuniting any time soon. Years after they broke up, they were offered a billion dollars to reunite for one last tour and turned it down...
They did re unite pre covid to initially record two songs…..i still have faith in you, and don’t shut me down……it went so well they decided to write more songs to make a final album Voyage.
@@george217 they were not interested to tour but were back working together for the London avatar project, the two songs were all that was planned to fit in with the project. Once they were back together they decided to make a full album.
Abba is the most metal disco band ever, it's the most metal music from Sweden apart from Sabaton. People say Abba is disco, but i say Abba is Abba.Abba's beats are more metal than disco.
ABBA comes back in 2017 to studio and recording two new songs, and finally a full album released in 2021 that was a worldwide succes ... not so bad for four swedish people over 70 years old
Thank you for your beautiful reaction!
