Lincoln yearly sales; 2018 - 103,587 2017 - 111,159 For comparison, let’s look at yearly sales in 2015...101,257....yeah so not much of an increase from ‘15 to ‘18 sales. And that’s WITH a new continental and redesigned mkx that debuted AFTER 2015. Tell me again how Lincoln sales have increased substantially?
Maybe they need a better and more technological interior with a superior package of technologies in the powertrain ... something not so standard American style, and yes a few levels more premium, I think the firm needs to match them with the level offered by the market European.
Haven't driven the Nautilus but I'd give some props to the 2.7L twin scroll turbo V6 that it shares with the Ford Edge ST. It's a great midsize SUV engine if you're looking for performance in a mainstream model.

I actually prefer the plastic since that is where your legs would hit and it is LOT easier to clean. But the plastic in the center is not acceptable. Even the Ford ecosport and mustang have better interiors

Great car. Big advantage over most competitors sadly no one mentions: the 2.7 engine has combined injection (both direct and port), so without the issues of direct injection only engines, much more durable. Lexus RX is the only competitor with combined injection.
Why people keep complaining about the center stack is beyond me! It's awesome! Same thing in my 2016 MKX and my wife and I love it! Once you have deers you could never go back! Nothing else in the class have this! I don't think it has a 12.2 inch display though LOL We Wish , they really didn't do very much interior upgrading besides the steering wheel, and the wireless charging for a cell phone, everything else is basically exactly like my 2016 , so instead of dumping 65k on a fully loaded, do what I did and buy a two or three-year-old for about half price! Oh and I think my 16 MKX also has the four-wheel-drive disconnect thing, there's a screen on the left side that shows the rear two wheels going on and off when power is needed or not needed
They probably have never had a center pass-through design in their cars. My last three Lincolns have had the pass-through console, (including my Nautilus), and I absolutely love it - that and the push button shifter to free up space.
The gap in the dash to center console is horrendous. As big as the Grand Canyon. As mentioned, the switchgear looks like it came directly out of a Ford Focus.
Great name and great new exterior but the interior is a bit bland. With just a few key upgrades they could have hit this one out of the park. Key features like a two tone leather steering wheel and a more imaginative center stack would have made all the difference at a minimal cost.

I have no idea why auto makers started putting automatic gear selectors in the center where they use up valuable space. Lincoln has it 100% right putting buttons instead of the waste of space gear selector in the center console.

Big advantage with the push button shifter, if the driver forgets to put the vehicle in park, when the engine is turned off, the transmission goes into park automatically.

So the safety feature you're speaking of has nothing to do with push button gear selector....it's a computer driven safety feature of many electronic selectors of today.

Our KIA optima's have the most carefully constructed interiors and details that would shame this lovely Lincoln...the switchgear that is shaped to welcome your touch everywhere! I can't find a seam or touchpoint that isn't as the designers drew it!

The Ford unit is actually well liked among car reviewers. I have a 2017 Mustang GT and the center stack is similar in layout. This is actually a beautiful car, I don't know what you're comparing it with to say its hideous and with really poor interior.
There is no Sony unit in this, nor do they design interior pieces anyways. Have you sat in one? This may not be the top vehicle in the class but it is well executed and for the most part well put together.

Ford/Lincoln... the only American brand still going strong. General Motors has been declining since the mid 2000s. Chrysler is owned by Fiat, which is a shit car company.
I'm afraid I have some bad news for you buddy, just look at Ford's stocks since 2015, and especially in last quarter 2018 their financials have taken the biggest dip in years, almost 30% in fact when compared with first quarter 2018. Add that to the fact they are dropping everything besides the Mustang in the car lineup in their home country, amd that is far from "Going strong" by any standard. Their stock value in comparison to GM is holding only about 2% higher when compared in the same fiscal timeline in this quarter. A car company that doesn't plan on selling cars in their own market isn't a good play, there's only so far they can go on F150's and Explorers, especially when they are pricing themselves out of reach for a large portion of buyers.

The Lexus RX, BMW X5, and the Audi Q5/Q7 use hard plastics underneath in the same areas (below the dash/near the feet). Why do you not call them out?

We may wait a year or so and replace our 2014 edge Limited .. hopefully can get one with the extra power from the 2.7
