This suite is so amazing, the violoncello comes to life. I sounds as if Bach without strain gets the music to express the wealth of harmony, the development of musical thoughts, that we know from his most famous pieces. This suite is a gem, really beautiful. I try to play it on piano and the way the melody reaches out for thematic ideas and harmonic development is ingenious. Aand as the other comments say, Mischa Maisky makes every tone become alive. Quote: "... this rendition is still absolutely mesmerizing".
I don't know if any other cello players have this sensation, but when listening to another cellist play a piece I've played a lot myself, I almost feel phantom fingering along with his playing. It's kind of a neat experience. Not that I sounded anything like this. 😁
Many other cello players (even professional famous gurus) play Bach in a rather "inert" way in comparison. Mischa makes EVERY note become "alive". The extremes between delicate, soft nuance and profoundly fierce intensity are enrapturing (well learned in the footsteps of Rostropovich, and taken beyond in Mischa's own unique way). It's a shame that the acoustics of the room do not make justice to Mischa's mastery -but this rendition is still absolutely mesmerizing nonetheless. Thank you so much for this recording. [I hope you might one day in the near future record the suites yet again in a place with more resonance, similar to your older recording; I can hear your Bach over and over and it never becomes old!].
He is my all time favorite...Just Simply Beautiful ...the world doesnt know what its missing. 😘 I love the way you've aged your one with the music. Cheers!
Maisky is a generational talent. However, playing nearly every vote in vibrato seriously stifles the momentum and liveliness of the movement - perhaps it’s a crutch for finding correct pitch.

How he plays...Haunts you...tears at your soul...beautifully.
What a coincidence that suite 2 is 300th anniversary. Bach made this piece after his ex-wife, Maria Barbara Bach passed away in 1720.

Whats up with the Mr.T necklace? I pitty the fool who takes a swipe at Maisky's necklace!
People can have very different ideas about playing Bach correctly. We cannot ignore it.

Where did he post this or where did you find it?
You probably already found this out but it was posted on Mischa Maisky Official channel ua-cam.com/channels/-_cOpjMK7DjZjcZvyhb3PQ.html

You think Mischa struggles to find the right pitch 😂
The rubbish American ads that keep interrupting are an insult to Bach and to Maisky.
