Oscar Isaac said in an interview, while promoting Moon Knight, that he has regrets starring in this movie. He said it was a fun experience but thinks that the writers made Apocalypse more of a cartoon villain rather than a serious one.

I feel like Apocalypse was a huge missed opportunity, he could have been so powerful, intelligent and calculating that this could have almost been a horror movie with all the terrifying ways he was able to use his powers, if only that's what we got.
Knowing the MCU. They might build up Apocalypse for the X-men like Thanos
He DID almost win, and he did use his powers in a lot of horrifying ways like controlling all the nuclear operators in the world and burying people in walls. The problem is that like Ultron, he had to be dealt with in just one film, which makes him seem less impressive. Still, it took nothing less than the Phoenix to destroy him just like in Ultimate X-Men.
@@tmac731 that is how he should have been. He is one of the most powerful Villains the X-men have fought and he is wasted in this movie. The animated series did this character so much better.
I remember as a kid Apocalypse in the cartoons would genuinely be scary.

Poor Oscar Isaac said it was really uncomfortable in the costume and he could barely move his head/see anything the entire time. He said it was not the comic experience he was hoping for, but Moon Knight redeemed his experience as a Marvel character!
Yes, this Quicksilver scene was the best scene in any X-Men movie.
The one in days of future past, is also great. I'm disappointed they didn't give him more screentime in the final movie.

honestly Michael Fassbender was probably my favorite part of the movie, his acting in the scene where he's holding his dying wife and child is just phenomenal

Just so you know Wanda and Pietro in the comics are Magneto's children until it was retconed in 2014, which was not a welcomed change by fans.

They could 100% say that Magneto was their birth father but either gave them up for adoption or abandoned them etc
Also mind you, this is the first time in the films where Magneto has his force-field.
In most other media, Magneto was known for almost always using his force-fields in battle.
It is almost impossible to break them as well. I wished he had used this ability more often.

This definitely wasn't the best X-Men film (especially w/ Apocalypse being a kinda generic villain), but I don't think it's as bad as ppl say.
It still had some great moments (like Quicksilver's slow-mo scene) & I enjoyed it overall.
You can't really say that the criticisms for the movie aren't accurate. The storytelling is very unfocused with the film literally having no second act.
Storm was the biggest disappointment for me.. Not even because of the actress but because they didn't utilize her powers properly. Good CGI can make or break a superhero film & 'Apocalypse' should've had the best

quicksilver was at the school by just luck, in days of future past he took charles' "school for gifted youngsters" card and just happened to turn up at the right time, time already being slowed as i assume quicksilver ran there.
enjoyed Seb flirting with Isaac more than the film itself, always makes me chuckle when he goes all out 'daddy' ...shame, they still had a solid cast
Jean is one of my all time favorite comic book characters (currently second to Wanda Maximoff) but I feel like her story has never been explored to its full potential. Can’t wait for the X-Men to make their way over to the MCU.

i feel like they might not do the whole the Dark Phoenix story again. its been done 2 times and they weren't great
@@just_tom00 yeah but hollywood has done spider-man and batman over and over again but with the mcu in charge now, i think 3rd times the charm.
@@just_tom00 It'll be a while until the X-Men are even introduced, so even longer until they reach the Dark Phoenix saga if they do it. And if they do do it hopefully they'll do it in a way that feels different enough to the previous two versions.
The Essex Corp stuff was intended to set up Mister Sinister (Nathaniel Essex) as a big bad in the X-men universe, but they didn't get a chance to go through with it before the Disney merger.
Nevertheless, Logan effectively picked up on and made sense of the post credits scene, so it's not like it doesn't go anywhere.
Now you know why everyone were so hyped in Wandavision reaction cause this Quicksilver is too op 😂 Although I like this movie basically because of Erik, Charles and Peter Maximoff but damn they really had a missed opportunity with Apocalypse. I’m not even a comic reader but I can tell that they really nerfed the dude a lot. They kinda did whilst showcasing the overpowering of Sentinels in previous but failed to do the same with Apocalypse when anyways it’s a reset of timeline. A letdown indeed in terms of villain and some side characters.

14:30 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, which conveniently was made in the same era as this movie.
It's hard not to be a little disappointed with this one since it can't live up to First Class or DOFP, reverting to a more straightforward *'X-Men Go Stop The Evil Mutant Who Is Doing Evil Stuff!'* plotline, but a lot of the side plots are pretty good. Quicksilver joins the team and demonstrates some weaknesses to balance out his insane powers, while Cyclops begins his career as a much more laid-back person than he usually is, sort of like Charles. Apocalypse is meant to be a Thanos-level villain, but like Ultron he was diminished by having to be beaten in one film.
I still appreciate like this one and will defend it, just not as much as the previous two.
Days of future past will stay my favorite as it puts all of them together in one movie and the story behind it was fun to watch.

Any scene with Evan Peter's quicksilver is the best hands down. Best scene in this movie is when he saves everyone best scene in days of futures past is the kitchen scene. He's way better as quicksilver than the mcus in age of ultron imo
First X-men movie I saw in the cinemas. It made me fall completely in love with the X-men series. Quick question: which X-men character would you rather have their power? Personally I think Storm’s powers are pretty cool

When apocalypse says "end him" it was originally supposed to be finish him but someone told the writer about mortal combat so they changed it to end him it was explained in the extras

X-Men Apocalypse is a good movie but people were over hyped for it. They make it to be a bad movie but it is better than X-Men Origins Wolverine, X-Men The Last Stand, New Mutants, and X-Men Dark Phoenix. That said you need to still watch X-Men Dark Phoenix.
It had nothing to do with hype, it really was that bad. Worse than New Mutants. Much worse than Last Stand. About on par with Origins. And at least Dark Phoenix had a cool soundtrack. Apocalypse has got jack squat going for it. Just an awful experience in every way start to finish.
I wouldn't really say he needs to watch Dark Phoenix, it's a bit of a meh way to end the X-Men films. The train fight is cool, and I don't even hate the film it's just sad that that was the last the X-Men film.

I think the worst part of this movie, for me, was that Katniss Everstique was made into some kind of hero that they had the nerve to have Storm look up to. Storm has been my favorite hero since I was 7 so that was foolishness and fuckery, imo. So b/c Jennifer Lawrence is a hero in another franchise, you completely destroy one of best enemies of the X-Men? Stupid. But as with the very first X-Men movie, I had to suspend all canon knowledge and accept that all we're gonna get is typically mediocre executed, barely-knowledgable X-fanfics.
I wholeheartedly believe that making Mystique a main character for FC, DOFP and apocalypse doomed the series. Less time was spent on the main X-men and more on her
@@brandoncowan4422 it's obvious they only did it to supposedly capitalize of her game in the other franchise and it just makes it stupid AF. Like no one wanted that and the characters started to have similar mannerisms, etc. I honestly didn't think she was that good in these movies, I've liked her in other stuff but hey, at least, it's not as bad as Amber Heard's Mera, so there's that, I guess.
Essex is a reference to the Villain Mr Sinister. He is a villain that has been associated with Apocalypse. He wants to do genetic experiments on mutants to create his own group of super powered mutants. He is obsessed with doing experiments on Jean Grey and Cyclops in the comics. His experiments helped create the birth of Cable and an evil opposite version of Cable called Stryfe.
I feel like this movie would have been better of it was the final X-men movie that took place in the current timeline, with this being the last x-men villain instead of it being one of their first villains in the past

apocalypse is one of my guilty pleasures i know most people dont like it but it has a spot in my heart. also if you havent already, i think you would really like jojo rabbit - its funny and heartwrenching at the same time
I remember seeing it in the cinema (they did a marathon of previous x-men movies and wolverine: origins I think) and I was so excited to see them again. My friend and I almost squeeled when we saw that Erik was living in our country, although his Polish was a disaster lmao. Actually everyone's Polish was pretty bad in this movie. In comparison to Daniel Bruhl's Polish in Ladies in Lavender, Michael really did bad.
But. That never stopped us from being super happy with the movie and seeing our fav characters again.
P.S.: Peter really should've told Erik he's his son.

I HATE how weak and useless they make Storm in these movies..... Don't get me wrong, I understand weakening her powers somewhat, because in the comics you could argue that she is way too OP to be properly portrayed in the movies (I mean, if she had her comic-book ability to zap a giant crater into the Earth's surface or freeze someone's blood vessels or suck all the air out of a person's lungs, you basically wouldn't have a conflict in the movies at all....) HOWEVER, they didn't have to go so overboard when nerfing her! She's so embarassingly pathetic, it's always been my main complaint about these movies, along with how they neglected my boy Gambit. Also, they desperately need to do a better job of casting an actress for her that really looks the part and has a more commanding presence....

Moira was useless too after giving the info. Like, Charles could've erased her mind again and steal all the files regarding Oscar Isaac's character.
1 of the reasons, probably the biggest is the cgi and everything else that goes into making OP characters like that fight in love action is just too expensive. So that's not likely to change anytime soon
I hope MCU will do justice to these characters.
@@a.r.5100 Nah I don't agree, these movies have more than enough of a budget to do her powers justice. I mean at the very least they could have made Storm's lightning look less low-budget. Even Electro in the Amazing Spiderman 2 had way cooler looking lightning powers than Storm. In these movies it looks like cheap after-effects. Beyond that, the way she uses her power over weather is not creative at all either.... She is nothing more than a fog machine half the time. I liked the way she created multiple tornados in X2, but for some reason she only really did that to escape fighter jets and never really thought to use more powerful moves like that mid-battle.
Since we have seen how cool the MCU CAN make Thor's powers look, they should have no problem giving some of that same attention to Storm's powers in the future.
I recommend to you to see the series of the mandalorian(it's a star wars series), of course if you want
It's always looked like they raided the wardrobe on the set of Stargate. Dude looks EXACTLY like a Jaffa! EXACTLY!! This movie was sad. Cosplayers did SO MUCH BETTER that year with that costume.

I feel like the only explanation for the continuity not being accurate in Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix is that it's kinda like what DC did with Flashpoint, where if you change one thing, it makes a ripple in time, leading to a whole new timeline.
