      I'm one of the few who loved Batman v Superman. But... most of the rest of the DCEU is a raging dumpster fire. I'd advise most people just to watch MoS, BvS, and Wonder Woman... and then GTFO. Nothing else worth seeing after that except possibly Shazam or the James Gunn Suicide Squad reboot if you got a few hours to kill. Started out promising but turned into such a trainwreck.

    Yes Seb, "Man Of Steel" is one of Superman's nicknames, just as "The Dark Knight" is one of Batman's nicknames. It implies Superman's physical invulnerability.
    I worked in a movie theater when Man Of Steel came out, and people would come up to me and ask if there was an end-credits scene. I would answer "Yeah, you see Wonder Woman's invisible jet at the end." Most would get the reference and laugh, but I remember one guy who got really confused. When I explained it to him, he admitted that he didn't get it because he was a Marvel fan. Fittingly enough though, Wonder Woman would appear in later films.

      I remember watching a youtube video describing why The Man of Steel was a bad film and he was saying that the fight scenes and physics were similar to anime. In my head I was thinking, anime fight scenes are so powerful and they're so damn good at conveying strength and speed and Man of Steel also did extremely well. So I had no idea wtf that youtuber was talking about.
      Also I have a few really big comic book fan friends and they didnt like it either. One of them said they reallllllly didnt like the fact that Superman actually killed General Zod because Superman doesnt kill anyone. To me that logic was dumb. It's Superman being superman for the first time. He's figuring himself out just like anyone would. He doesnt know the limits of his power, and he doesnt have a strong stance on his morals just yet. On top of that Superman has killed people in the comics so idk wtf my friend is talking about lol.

Yes, comics are awesome but let the director try to implement his spin on the characters. All the critics like "superman doesn't kill" "superman is too dark here because he destroys buildings" can very easily be explained by the simple reason that it's his first time. He doesn't know how to fight properly, he doesn't know the extent of his powers. Why did he kill zod? He didn't want to, he just saw no other way to save those people because he has no experience. • @sirjohnmara
    @sirjohnmara Рік тому +198

    Of course you should watch the Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but there is a line that Batman/Bruce Wayne says in the theatrical cut that's very good: Alfred and Bruce argue about if Superman can be trusted since he's an "alien" and Bruce says: "Damn it Alfred, he's raised in Kansas, he's probably more human than I am."

    • @incredibilistic
      @incredibilistic Рік тому +7

      I won't subject myself to watching the movie again just to find that line, but if that's true and Bruce actually said that it makes the "Save Martha" moment even dumber than it already is.
      I've yet to hear a single competent answer as to why Bruce didn't know Superman's real identity, which would include knowing his parents names. Even worse is that Lois knew as did Lex. It took Lois all of about a week to track him down to his doorstep and while we're never told how Lex found out (maybe he hacked her computer) he and his goons were well aware of his real identity and everything else about him. But somehow the so-called "world's greatest detective" who had 18 months to research what he considered to be the most dangerous entity to exist had absolutely no clue. The only thing he learned in the movie's timeline was that a strange, green rock might hurt/kill him but not where he lives, where he works, etc.
      I recall the scene where Batman is dragging Superman's near lifeless body and tells him that his parents probably told him he was special. Yeah Bruce, like every parent of every child ever born but the fact that Bruce didn't know who those parents were/are is mindbogglingly stupid. I've seen a few of those animated DC movies and Batman is ALWAYS 20 steps ahead of everyone else but Snyder's version is criminally stupid by comparison.
      If you love the movie that's your business but let's not pretend that the story and the primary plot point makes any sense.

      @@extint3407 -- This is the kind of crap I can't stand about DC fans. Rather than just accept that it's a gargantuan plot hole you just make up shit to cover for the movie's morbid inconsistencies.
      Yet what you fail to realize is that you're creating even more plot holes by inserting a storyline that doesn't exist.
      You're effectively admitting that Bruce/Batman isn't the world's greatest detective and that Superman's intelligence is far superior to Batman's if he's able to "cover his tracks" so well that Batman could never find him.
      Like I said, if you like/love the movie that's your business but covering for the movie's inherent flaws won't make it a better movie.
      I'm a Marvel fan but I'm the first to admit and accept some of the plot holes and/or inconsistencies. At the end of the day these are just fantasy movies made my imperfect humans. Then they make him to act like complete braindead zombie to make it possible for batman to beat him😂 Batman is only human, no matter how much it's stretched. A person with abilities of Superman would be just impossible to take by surprise even with kryptonite. And even if stretching so much that it would happen once, there is no way that it would happen twice for as powerful being with all those abilities he has. You were right to point out the dick-shaped ships in the beginning of the movie. Zack Snyder intentionally designed a lot of Krypton's imagery to resemble the human reproductive system to sort of hone in on how Kal-El is Krypton's first natural birth in centuries. It's a very integral part of his character, because every single member of his race had their entire life predetermined at birth because of the codex. But Kal, being a natural birth, his destiny is undetermined, and completely up to his own making. And it's that moral compass that drives Superman's story through these movies.
    Zack Snyder has a very close knit team of people he works with on his movies. And so a lot what makes his movies what they are comes from that team of people working together on so many projects. They're not perfect movies, and the destruction and body-count in this movie is a result of that imperfection. But as you'll come to discover, subsequent movies in the series deal with the fallout of this movie's body count, as that was a big point of contention from movie-goers back when this movie came out.
    At the risk of sounding like an an apologetic Snyder fanboy, he seriously nails it with his trilogy of DC movies. They aren't perfect, but as a trilogy they work so incredibly well. It's amazing what happens when a single director get's to execute their own creative vision over the course of multiple movies like this. Marvel doesn't really have anything like that to compare to, so it's really hard to compare the two franchises in that sense. They're entirely different beasts to each other, both with their own respective strengths and weaknesses.
    Anyway, enjoy the movies. I'm very drunk right now, been a rough week at work. But as a big fan of this trilogy of films, I loved seeing your reaction to this. Can't wait for the rest.
    Very curious to see your approach to the two versions of Justice League. One is objectively worse than the other, but I feel like you need to watch both to fully apricate the behemoth of a film ZSJL is.

    So glad there’s becoming more people who aren’t afraid to love this movie. When it came out many really enjoyed it but a portion also felt like it wasn’t an overtly optimistic & bright movie like a Superman movie is expected to be and the Zod kill (even though he’s done similar things in canon comics). Also with The Avengers coming out a year prior that really got people in the mood for comic book movies to have a lighter tone & not too serious with comedy and a lighting pace. Nobody was ready for Man of Steel, now most comic book movie fans look back on it very fondly, especially with people now being burnt out by the MCU’s humor & silliness and dull cinematography people are really clamoring for serious tone epic superhero movies with emotion allowed to breathe. It just sucks that there’s a stigma around the DCU being bad because of what WB did to Justice League & Suicide Squad, so now when people check out these movies & love the good ones they feel almost guilty about it because they think most people don’t like them so they don’t give them the full praise they truly feel because they don’t want people to attack their opinions. Most reactions I see for Man of Steel & ZSJL & some others people are like “wow I thought these were suppose to be bad but it’s amazing!”

This is not a spoiler because you aren't familiar with DC: When you watch, go into it with the mindset that Batman is a grizzled veteran at this point. he's also stated he's an avid videogamer, a warhammer 40K fan and on his socials he builds his own PC.
      he's a top gent, he's been in a few smaller things on british TV (before he got big, like ''the Tudors'' tv series) and he's on the shortlist to be the new james bond, but since he's slated to remain as Kal-El for the present that might get shelved

Batman and Wonder Woman lost their hope in believing in people since the world is cruel. Batman inspired him and continued to share it also cementing the fact how they are polar opposites but best of friends like in the comics continued to Zack’s JL. I don’t think they relied on him at all. Batman wanted him back to inspire hope as he got inspired when he made that sacrifice. He brought back Batman’s humanity. Theatrical JL relied on Superman heavy, while Snyder’s JL, they still lost even though they had Superman. Flash was the one who saved them. With all due respect to Chris Evans, but Henry Cavill really is on another level. But I'm glad you're watching the movies. Despite their reputation and ratings, I honestly love the DCEU movies.

      I agree. That was the first time I saw Henry Cavill or Charlie Cox on screen. Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro, Ricky Gervais, Mark Strong, Peter O'Toole, Jason Fleming, they all were effective in this fantasy based on Neill Gaiman's book.
