FACT: When Peggy first sees Captain American come out of the chamber, her reaction is real. The touch she gives was not scripted. She was genuinely flustered and amazed by his physique. The director decided to use that cut.

@@vanessanick4531I’m a year late to this video and comment…but The Winter Soldier’s stealth CA suit at the beginning is the best suit ever.
I love how everybody is stressed as hell when Bucky is hanging off the ledge in the train, yet they're genuinely shocked that he actually falls. It's like, despite the fear for his life no expected him to actually die...
This movie's greatest strength imo (beside Chris Evans' ass) is how they balance the old fashion feels and some genre cliches with subverting the viewer's expectations
While at the same time it's telling a story comic book fans know all too well. It's not identical to the comics of course but the death of Bucky was a comic mainstay for decades. It would be like asking a comic fan to be surprised that uncle Ben died or Batman's parents.
I'd argue mnaging to make a movie that existing fans are excited for while still making it accessible for new fans, apart from Chris Evans' ass, is their greatest strength. Like sure there's something up with Schmidt's face when he's getting his portrait done but you don't know exactly what it is. That is unless you're a comic fan, then you go into that scene knowing he's the Red Skull so the palette full of red paint is incredibly funny. It's both intriguing and nerd friendly simultaneously.
Steve went from puny kid to Captain DAMerica in like 2 seconds.
True story: As a kid, I often got Steve/Cap confused with Charles Atlas, because of the ads for his body-building manuals that were advertised in the comics: The before & after pictures of each were pretty similar.
Fun Fact : After Steve went in ice, Peggy formed SHIELD

The Red Skull is portrayed as being subjected to the Super Soldier Serum before it was fully perfected, causing his face to turn into a grotesque red skull. That’s why Dr. Abraham Erskine said that Johann Shmidt/Red Skull had side effects.
Steve Rogers was frozen, the basic science behind the cryogenics of Captain America is that his enhanced human body was able to lower its own freezing temperature, which prevented Rogers from dying in the ice, and that’s also why he didn’t age.
Also, never look at the cast of the movies, mostly it’s fine but there’s one MCU movie that it is very important to not look at the cast.

I don't think it was before the serum was perfected but just the the Red Skull is so horrible a person that that was how his personality manifested.
@@Sigart Johann Schmidt personality doesn’t have anything to do with the side effects he got from the serum, it wasn’t ready, that’s all.
We should consider ourselves lucky that back then, Marvel didn't own the rights to film Fantastic Four movies, so Marvel was able to recast Chris Evans as Captain America even though he was already Johnny Storm in F4. He embodied Cap hands down. I can't imagine anyone else protraying the character now.

My favourite bit of trivia in this movie was when the actor playing Peggy Carter is rather taken by Chris Evans' body when he is revealed for the first time, her reaching out and touching him was entirely improvised (though I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was a spontaneous, unconscious action). Her reaction is the actor's genuine reaction.

There's a tv series after the war about Agent Carter. She is awesome.
Remember the scene of Steve returning with the prisoners and equipment and the colonel telling him disciplinary action won't be necessary. When you finally get to see Falcon and the Winter Soldier, that scene will be VERY important.

This movie is far from underrated. Almost every people i know and watched the whole franchise especially the origins stories are saying this is the best one.
The parallels between Steve's return with the soldiers from HYDRA base and the first Captain America from Falcon and Winter Soldier breaks my heart everytime. 😭
The ‘I had a date’ literally got me to tear up and even cry a drop even tho I rarely EVER cry cuz of movies

Phase 1 always has been my favorite phase even with how epic and grand the final films have become. Something charming and grounded in seeing the original cast formed together.

With the suspense and the music the scene of the Rebirth chamber opening and the audience seeing Chris Evans body for the first time is as iconic as Christopher Reeve ripping his shirt open to reveal the ‘S’ on his chest

*13:15* Steve becomes Cap. I took nieces and nephews to the premiere. When the capsule opened, I announced "Uncle is gonna get one of those machines". The families around us burst out in laughter

The first movie we see my favorite MCU character in. Bucky. Steve Rogers is great but I love Bucky Barnes. I thought the first Captain America was a little hard to get through in parts but the Winter Soldier and Civil War were both so good.

About the running speed...
The serum did give him heightened abilities, plus before he had all kinds of health issues including asthma, so imagine the amount of effort he must have been used to putting in just to keep up with everyone else in training. That added to his new abilities...🙄

By far my favourite Marvel film, but damn the second Cap film is even better for the fight sequences, you are in for a serious treat!
Agent Margaret "Peggy" Carter taught Steve how to fight. She taught him to use his weight, his environment, and anything as a weapon. She also taught him how to use his shield, alongside Howard Stark.
That close up of Steve eyes getting big when getting the serum is the same way ed Norton looked at the end of incredible hulk
So surreal seeing people start this franchise now. 😆. I got into it around the time when Winter Soldier came out which feels like so many years ago now.
I just discovered MCU in January, when I found out I got Disney+ free with my Verizon plan. I’m addicted! ❤

The thing is, the Red Skull is from ages past from the comic books. So you have to remember that a lot of the Marvel Universe stories are from the comic books themselves, and they dictate what storyline you will be seeing, with a few modifications, but they try to stick to the original storylines of all characters creations and enemies.

I've watched a lot of these MCU reactions. It's nice to FINALLY see someone recognize the old man at the beginning as Filch and not what's-his-name from Game of Thrones
Going back to this and hearing you say Steve being "more worthy that the other guy" after jumping on the grenade, was a funny thing that I couldn't mention back in the day 😁 but now you know just how worthy Steve was 😁
I love the snarky nod to Raiders of the Lost Ark at the start. Even the end is a nod, how the Red Skull meets a fate similar to the Nazis when they looked into the Ark with the whole face-melting thing.

Did you notice at the Expo the "Synthetic Man" display? That was the first Human Torch from the comic books. Peggy reaching out to touch the new and improved body of Steve was a knee jerk reaction from the actress and was not in the script.

Actress (don't remember her name sorry) thought those muscles wasn't real and touched Chris to make sure but they decided to keep it little thing in film because it was really a natural reaction and more close to viewers cause probably not everyone would also believe it's all his body

It’s a little thing, but i find it funny that Chris E might be one of the only ones based of his body fat and previous physique that diddnt use “super soldier serum” to get in the shape he did but his character is the one that does
one of the things that a lot people miss is just how smart Steve is. His trunk is for of military history books and he has eidetic memory. Those are things he had before t he serum.
Captain America is probably my favorite Avenger. I love this movie❤

Since you’ve taken a fancy to our boy, Chris. Have you by chance ever seen his 2009 film, “Push”? He’s a telekinetic hiding in Hong Kong? British director and fun film. He’s great. Cheeky and brave. The other film is a sci-fi/horror classic called “Sunshine”. 2007 Danny Boyle film about a mission to drop a bomb the size of NYC into the sun, hoping to restart it or else we all freeze back on Earth. Chris is in hero mode here too, but wow…what a flick!!!! Cheers, mate.

One of my favorite MCU films, and favorite Superhero films of all time.
Cap is my favourite because not only is he hot, he has a heart of gold and always tries to do the right thing. And tbh his was the first Avenger story I ever watched and loved, so it kind of stayed with me.
