    Thank you, again! Couple months ago while raining my truck started ringing at me as if my phone was ringing, only it wasn't my phone and nothing would shut off the ring until I shut off the truck. Couple weeks go during another heavy rain, my mirrors stopped autofolding. I splooged dielectric grease in that connector by rear bumper and no more electrical gremlins....for now.

    @jimegan7077 Рік тому +3

    I shot dielectric grease into every connector on the underside of my 2017 within the first year of ownership. It was the connectors at the rear bumper that prompted me to do that, but I kept going all the way to the front bumper. No issues with connectors. I will say that some of the connectors are a huge PITA to disconnect.

    Twisted pair wires to the connector are for noise immunity and should be left twisted when possible, probably doesn't matter 4 the short run 2 the new connector, very important 4 long wires runs, nice repair

    Seen this a time or two. Usually it’s the rubber seal ring or the connectors internal seals for the individual pins. Personally, I just went ahead and used XG-12 on most of the underside connections. Cheap insurance.
    On 17-19 trucks, the DEF module has a lower access hatch. For those submerging your vehicles or driving in highly wet conditions I’d advise you open the hatch, carefully disconnect the connections and add a bit of XG-12 to those connections.

    Hey ARod
    Really nice job on that repair
    Have you ever tried the connectors that have the solder and shrink wrap in one
    If so let me know what you think of them
    There is no crimping needed
    When I first seen them I was
    a little skeptical but after trying them I was very surprised how well they hold.
    I have been using them for awhile now i actually
    used them today
    On a transmission harness plug that was broke
    The one that goes to the solenoid pack
    I was able to get a new pigtail
    and staggered the splices used those solder connectors
    And an additional section of shrink wrap on each one just for a little insurance
    Then wrapped it in the Loom
    And a few pieces of electrical tape and it looked OEM

    I need some advice
    getting ready to replace my 2002 f550 7.3 powerstroke
    And having a hard time deciding on what engine option would be best
    For 2023 f550 supercab 192 WB. I don't tow very often but
    I am usually maxed out on gvwr. I make continuous short trips all day hauling dirt and rocks from the local pit to the job. Just a little concerned
    That i will have problems with emissions due to the way i will be driving. What do you thinking?

      With shortages these days, might not be a bad idea to keep the old pins for spares, if you can. Why didn't you just leave the spare connector in place and tape the pigtail up under of your repair, instead leaving it open? I would rather replace with a new pin instead of the whole connector, it's as much trouble to do so it that way. I don't like cutting up the factory harness, but that's just me, I'm funny about that kind of repair. I've had bad experiences with repairs at the my local Ford dealer, so now I do all of my own repairs now..

  • @PowerStroking
    @PowerStroking Рік тому +1

    You should use the motorcraft electrical grease not dielectric. Dielectric is made to carry high voltage and high current and can actually block the 2.5 ish volts or so traveling on the network circuits. Ask me how I know lol 😂. In other news that’s been happening to nox11 since 2017 ya think they’d have gotten that under control by now.
