I had two SP4 plus, and they sounded amazing. I have two of the "top of the line" Crescendo 15" subwoofers, but the FI SP4 plus I had sounded 1,ooo times better. The FI 18's hit every bass note better than any size or brand of subwoofers I have pretty much ever owned.

I like the design of their back plate. I love seeing different engineers do things dif to solve problems. I worked as a fabricator for years and would always have to design my own stuff to solve issues. I feel like if I designed a back plate I would go this route for air cooling and allow long strokes

Velodyne has been doing something similar for years. Except instead of a back plate they extended the coil former and put a spider on the bottom. So you have greater distance between these spiders which create greater linearity.

I have fi audio mt 12’s. Best subs I’ve ever owned. They do 4500 rms all day. I was going to get sundown zv6 but they were over $200 more per sub. Now I see down for sound lowered the price of the zv6 to $744 go figure. But I’m happy with my subs.

never enough xmax/xmech :) But really most "outdoor" venues are not so much into the infrasonics that the xmax can provide so :(
1. Any sub can be used in IB
2. Larger subs aren't as popular so their costs per inch are higher. 21" is about the limit with a 600oz motor. 24's are super expensive.
3. Don't care about them, everything is overpriced.
4. 34mm is cute.
5. 18's yield the best return.
If you were handed a JL Audio 10w6v3, what would you do to make it the best it can be? I appreciate you don't care for JL Audio and would possibly say to trash it but I'm curious about upgrades etc
It's not that I don't care for it. It's just overpriced compared to other vendors doing the same amount of work / bass. I turned some into 15's and that was cool.

also have a 4th gen type r cone separated from spider was glued back but i wana do something crazy and make it better, i run 2 type rs (black cone) in my daily for years there good get the job done miss my grays felt they hit harder i wana upgrade just installed for a buddy 2 skar sdr 12 in the loaded box same power slaps harder kinda jelly lol

One would think that a surround clamping ring would be more advantageous than having to use dozens of spring clamps!.. .
It is, but sometimes we have too many in production at once and not enough rings. I've seen some guys use 4ga wire and then clamp it. As long as the job gets done, it don't really matter.

Maybe. Did you have a question about it? It's actually impedance rise and it's not worth calculating unless you're going to do burps / SPL contests.

It got down to 40 degrees this Winter!!!!! It depends on what you're wanting to do. There's not a magical formula that I know of. Most designs, mine included, have to do with what's available.
Surely enough I have 2 of the first gen sp4s and I'm in Australia so these are most probably the only 2 here.. unfortunately they have no soft parts so I am currently sourcing parts and what not just real hard from here, lord of bass won't ship to me and I have tried a few places but no matches on coil

@@RobotUnderground i live on buffalo. Could be 90 degrees 80% humidity. Then September comes. 70 degrees 50% humidity then January 15 degrees 5% humidity. Air density changes so much.

Box raise is where the subwoofers feed back there own current to the amp and this changes from box to box .....where this is basically charging the performance specs for the subwoofers do to the air resistance or lack of. Example: My amps are 2ohm 5k amps but when I wire 4 subs to 2ohm I get a large ohm raise to almost 8 ohm but when I was wired with 3 subs at 2.67ohm I was only raising to 4ish. So to off set the raise we over power the subs so that they see the power they were supposed to handle, or reduce the amount of subs on the amp reducing the subwoofers feed back. ..I am a novice but you seemed dismissive on the idea that this is a thing.. why ? Try not to be to mean lol as I'm asking for guidance..
Box rise is not a thing when using for daily bass. Always look at the impedance min and then note the frequency. You can do impedance sweeps both free air, in the box and then the box in the vehicle and note them but again, you don't need to, "compensate", for any impedance rise for daily vehicles.

I'll try to get the most out of what I got.. luckily my amps wouldn't allow me to lower my ohms any lower than recommended or at least I was told that ..I have a soundigital evo 5k 2ohm version on bench its a beast but real world I'm not getting but maybe 1/2 .. I haven't clamped it yet because I was only 1/2 way through the build and I'm not sure why but I'm not as happy as I thought I'd be. Thank you for the reply I know your busy
Why not use a ring with a few clamps instead of a million
Because the clamp ring needs to fit perfect. I don't have access to a CNC machine right now so clamps still work and cost me nothing.
I'm sure scott is copying you🤦♂️, you use 4-ferrite engines at an 8-inch sub damn man, scott on several models puts a ferrite capable of running the same power as a 3-ferrite engine and the people who use the subwoofers know exactly how much Fi subwoofers are good
Fi is good, not saying he copied me. I still think they're a bit expensive but that's just my opinion. Now replaceable covers for amps, yeah that was my idea and this douche at RF stole the idea, executed poorly and failed. The idea of non badged equipment for you guys to resell is out of their game as well.
