Rolling Thunder I did basically the same thing to my Duramax. I have upgraded the exhaust, turbos, intercooler & after cooler, injectors and I can't hear the engine or exhaust and less I roll the windows down. I also have two peerless 15's on a Orion 8K. I didn't use any brand name sound deadener, I basically did what you did. It's never fallen off, it doesn't stink and it's been on there for 12 years, 4 layers of it

One thing I've noticed over the years that seriously helps reduce rattles and vibrations is simply picking a lower crossover point (LPF) for subwoofers. If guys would quit crossing their subs so high at around 80-100 HZ and instead from 50-65 HZ 24DB alot of the obnoxious panel rattles and vibrations you typically associate with a teenager's car are significantly minamized. Also going the extra distance to create a dedicated enclosure for midbass drivers either in doors or kick panels makes a big improvement too than just throwing a speaker in a big leaky door infinite baffle. Doing that will absolutely improve midbass clarity, response, and overall improve blending the subs in better with the front drivers. No amount of that crap that these companies sell thrown in some doors will offer the benefit of making a .3-.4 cubic foot sealed enclosure for a 6.5 inch midbass...
I did noico sound treatment in bulty and closed foam on top and its covering 80% of the interior. I dont hear any feedback from the cabin at 4K watts. No rattles, no nothing. And If i didnt do this treatment It would not be the same by a mile. I have a SQL system and prefer to only hear the music and not any resonance.
I use and recommend to everyone to use frost king duct insulation foam and foil. It’s like 15 bucks a roll at Home Depot. It’s rated for hot and cold I’ve had it in trunk of my camaro for like 5 years and it hasn’t moved an inch.
I had a 2016 Chrysler 300 that rattled like crazy. I got two bulk ballistics kill mat from Best buy and did the trunk head to tow side to side. It did stop the vibration and rattles A LOT! but one thing I did not know was guna happen that did happen was my bass got harder and deeper! I listened to the same few songs that I always bump and ya they were hitting harder and deeper also.always had my seats down. I don't know if the waves weren't able to "break up" as much through the trunk and panels and went forward ? But it was definitely louder with a tighter hard bass hit.
I've used the asphalt based stuff..wouldn't recommend it in a hot place like mesa Arizona..however , you can go down to home depot and buy some aluminum foil tape for ductwork and that stuff works well too. If you want sound dampening and bonding properties between your wood panels you can use polymer based construction glue. Eliminating noises effectively raises your decibel to the ear....your brain perceives the sound as louder because your not filtering out the noises from rattles...so. in effect, it is louder.

100% agree. If someone really wants to buy sound deadener many was to find it cheap online or make your own. Definitely makes a difference with road noise. On the topic of does it gain spl, if done right with right material it 100% can but most average consumers using a single layer of whatever won't notice much if any spl gain by ear. Been doing spl competition for almost 20 years and deadening done right with right mater can have a substantial gain. All our spl cars over the years on average gain 3-4db from sound deadening before and after. But talking about 200-300 sf of deadening an entire car and sealing with multiple layers. Way more than the average consumer will do. For spl competition deadening is one of the most important steps if you want to be competitive. Most popular materials in spl competition is Vibraflex because its asphalt based and is more rigid and expanding foam and other materials like sand mixed with a hardening material is most popular in spl "street" competition classes where vehicles sound deadening is the only thing allowed. Butyl aluminum based sound deadeners can work for spl comp just not as good as it still flexes regardless of the amount of layers.
I've used peel and stick from lowes on 6 cars now never had one issue with falling off . Prep with scotch bright clean with acetone wood roller On a day 70° or higher end goal sound deadening
What are you using so I can pick some up. I have an 03 Land Rover Discovery and the roof rattles big time! None of my other ones did this. I guess hecause this one has no sunroof. Trying to get rid of this with some sort of sound deadener but they are so over priced.
good video i was just telling some of the local young guys about ways they can save money and still dampen/deaden their system. kids running a 90s tercel thats falling apart dont need to spend a ton on sundown deadener i cant remember the name of the product but in the flooring section of lowes or the homeless despot theres his liquid mastic that works great for paint on. throw a little sand in it too and you got yourself some cheap deadener.
I have Nvx sound deadening in my truck, NVX triple layer, with an additional acoustic foam layer ... Now that is good for noise.. It's what recording studios use..i have that in my truck.. And holy shit it works.. triple layer= One layer for temperature control.... one is for the annoying noises. and last, the acoustic layer is to keep out more of the annoying noises coming inside or going out.. Music, road noise, etc . Of course if your window is down your going to introduce noise into your environment and if it's up, well you still can't put a foam later on that either.... So either way you're not 100% secured because of windows... lol 🤣🤣
Frost King ... They sell it at Lowe's home Depot and Amazon also carries it for about 10 more cents it averages 18 to $20 a roll.. y'all can thank me later...
Dynamats work. In hi end home audio, it is used to avoid enclosures from the dreaded " panel talk". Imagine a violin or guitar, with a characteristic sound, and you start damping the "enclosure". That sonic characteristic will be obvious. It's the very reason why there are different types of wood that are simply preferable. Musicians will "know". Protect your Ears, how do we expect a perfect subjective listening, if all you are hearing are ruinous to your capacity to Hear. Imagine building a piano, using MDF. LOL.
Well, that's what an electric piano is or an electric guitar. They realize now that you don't have to use the piano or guitar body as an instrument. You can do that in post or with processing.
Informative. Will sound deadening material increase or decrease SPL and/or SQ? Hmm.. well the way I understand it is (even if only a ⅒dB).. • reducing panel vibration increases SPL + SQ (similar to why it's effective to brace enclosure and roof/windshield) • reducing road noise ultimately increases SPL + SQ • reduces SPL losses (which is like saying increases SPL) by covering up voids & holes in the vehicle's body's metal inner skin as well as the foil skin used on most sound deadening helps the flow/movement of sound waves due to the smoother surface and less areas for the waves to become trapped. • besides imo SILESS all BLACK 80mil (Amazon) material looks better in my build where I've removed my SUVs interior trim panels. To be clear, I'm not disagreeing. I'm mentioning (possibly questioning) my understanding of automotive sound deadening benefits. I'm only familiar with SILESS and the similar but inferior KilMat which never again. Not that it matters but.. Initially I had a bad first impression bcuz the first couple vids I saw of yours you spent most of the time belittling fellow car audio companies and fanatics which in business is well known to mostly hurt the one doing the trash talking more so in the longrun than those he or she is talking bad about. In attempt to help out a fellow car audio fellow.. 🤔 ..As you know, but likely don't care and have every right to but truth is, generally speaking, people don't like those who consistently talk bad about (or talk down to) others. Just what I was taught at my years at contributing to the success of a Fortune 500 company helping them achieve Fortune's Most Admired Company list every year I was there as they grew into the world's largest hotel, resort, hospitality, resort exchange, and travel rewards company. 🚫📯 My point to sharing that snippet was solely to attempt to gain just a sliver of credibility, (hence "attempt"), whereas far too many "know-it-alls" present their own Dunning Krueger common sense as "facts". Right? Thankfully I'm not quick to judge someone based on first impressions and continued to watch your content, and I'm pleasantly surprised I'm glad I did because I found a good one (like this video!) that is EXACTLY the type of informative content I seek and I wish I could provide on my small car audio YT channel. Lastly, (finally almost fricken done) I'll admit, you're one of a few in the industry I actually want to discuss with and learn from regardless of our differences. EMF owner, and Dean @ Five Star Car Stereo, etc to just name just a few because I want to LEARN IT ALL from HUMBLE know-it-alls. Would you be okay if I ask you an occasional car audio question? If so, I have a few ideas how to mutually benefit our channels, as I have my sights on monetizing this summer bcuz I'm sitting on a dozen hours of car audio footage I NEED to edit. (more like NEED to stop dreading the editing process)! DM to discuss further collaboration and/or Q&A: m.me/BrandonJLee24 tinyurl.com/Slamology-2021

And then there are those products that perform really well but if you just spend another couple thousand dollars you might get the good version of it? that got old really fast. however the thought of rebadging someone else's stuff? I know it's a standard industry practice but it just doesn't sit right with me. I'd rather make things that people will enjoy for a lifetime and understand that it's basically unique product from my company. also that I can hold my head up high and say yeah it's actually mine. that just seems kind of dishonest

There phantom 12 claims 1125 watts on some stuff rms which absolutely no chance it will do that at all and even then it has a higher fs shitty materials shitty design and there stereo one of them is like 90 and is a single din and lacks any features pioneer may have sold to China which I hate and I've only ever liked 2 subs from them and they were over priced but sounded good but they sell a stereo that's about 80 or 90 and has all the features I could ever want besides like a dsp mic eq thingy or something give it a little flatter and a slight u shape flat to me just doesn't sound that great tho it depends on speakers but it would be nice for it to eq it to the speakers I have but at its price and fo it's features set and reasonable quality its a good deal in my opinion

Butyl aluminum based sound deadeners can work for spl comp just not as good as it still flexes regardless of the amount of layers.
Is there a vibraflex alternative? I've been looking in to bitumen for flat roofs.
I've used peel and stick from lowes on 6 cars now never had one issue with falling off . Prep with scotch bright clean with acetone wood roller On a day 70° or higher end goal sound deadening
You are correct sir!
What are you using so I can pick some up. I have an 03 Land Rover Discovery and the roof rattles big time! None of my other ones did this. I guess hecause this one has no sunroof. Trying to get rid of this with some sort of sound deadener but they are so over priced.
What exactly is the peel and stick product you’re referring to?
Just use Roofing tape clean the surface and then apply it with a roller?
Whatever adds mass.
good video i was just telling some of the local young guys about ways they can save money and still dampen/deaden their system. kids running a 90s tercel thats falling apart dont need to spend a ton on sundown deadener
i cant remember the name of the product but in the flooring section of lowes or the homeless despot theres his liquid mastic that works great for paint on. throw a little sand in it too and you got yourself some cheap deadener.
lots of good products available for this sorta thing from mcmaster carr as well
They have everything!
We already knew that though. Thanks anyways
Mann I Wana start a home business wit amps need more info😍😍
Start small with the stuff in your area.
You think I can convince my gf that car audio is my religion and that I must keep spending money upgrading my stereo to appease my God? Lol
You don't have to convince her of the truth. Listen to your heart. Our Lord and Savior GONZO is the reality.
Where you located? Lol

Just stop the trunk rattle, is what i use it for. Definitely a price gouging, pay for a name that you 100% of the time you cover up.
Informative. Will sound deadening material increase or decrease SPL and/or SQ? Hmm.. well the way I understand it is (even if only a ⅒dB)..
• reducing panel vibration increases SPL + SQ (similar to why it's effective to brace enclosure and roof/windshield)
• reducing road noise ultimately increases SPL + SQ
• reduces SPL losses (which is like saying increases SPL) by covering up voids & holes in the vehicle's body's metal inner skin as well as the foil skin used on most sound deadening helps the flow/movement of sound waves due to the smoother surface and less areas for the waves to become trapped.
..As you know, but likely don't care and have every right to but truth is, generally speaking, people don't like those who consistently talk bad about (or talk down to) others.
DM to discuss further collaboration and/or Q&A: m.me/BrandonJLee24

I'm aware that it's taboo to talk trash... But it's not trash if it's true.
Why would u put it in the enclosure?! Now putting it on your truck lid so the rest of the world don't have to listen to the annoying rattling it's worth it. But the mark up on the cost is crazy
Same issues. To deaden the enclosure. "Audiophile".
Sound deadening is for gaining sound quality not decibels
as far as SQL.. i give +positive points for truck rattle.....man up kids....
I agree that it really sucks when these "audio experts" sell snake oil to people because of ignorance.
Like you have that rich uncle that molests your kids.
Ed at showtime put it to the test and he metered less after he installed it. I mean my roof flex has to add some dB gain. Yukon roof flex equals large passive radiator
That can sometimes be true. I've done that with bass shakers in a unibody truck. Like a Mazda B2000
"Grace" Ice and water shield
You do know, as the head admin of CACI, I put ant in his place trying to corner the market with the abuse of his Capitol by exposing his backroom forum threads
I know. That's why we're friends. They shit the other mods did to me when that douche killed himself wasn't right.
👀
💪💪💪💪
LOL "government portrait of Abraham Lincoln" five bucks and they send you penny which has his portrait on it OMG.
Screw best buy. X100.
Come on. Dynamite, etc works . Is it abused? Sure. Does it lower resonance of a panel? Absolutely. Does it benefit most car audio? For sure.
Yes, it works. That's why car makers use it... Just don't pay a lot for it. Buy the materials from Home Depot and DIY.
@@RobotUnderground
Thin closed cell foam yoga mats or play mats spray glued on a layer of peel n stick has always made my interiors very quiet.
@@jeffneedstogivejakeaturnon1083 Don't tell Ant. He'll come after you.
Haha just go to home depot !
you know that time you know somebody's right but you just don't want to agree with it because of principle? and then most of that principal is basically just bias?
it took me a long time to get over the fact that some things just don't make sense and are in fact Audio Snake oil.
then there are those products that just simply look nice however they just don't perform.
Just do it for yourself then to save money.
Well I don't see the point until u hit about 3k true power.. when u can hear the waves bounce off the body panels. Then it helps.
My dumb ass payed over 300 dollars on the shit.. did make it sound extremely better on the outside. Only thing rattling now is the rear wiper and my tag.. still can't figure them out haha
And it might not make it gain.. but it holds pressure alot more in the cab now. Kept blowing out my passenger 6.5 had to wrap the back in sound deadner. Pressure from the sub was busting it.
Don't feel bad. There are plenty of kids that spend $65k to become baristas.
If we are talking boss audio I think they are shit in every category on all there products and USALLY over priced for there performance and quality.
Great Stuff expanding foam
Super cheap now too. Like $3 a can at HD.
Fuck ant he ruined a lot of good forums. People following his lead are why fb groups suck even more than the forums now.
Kinda weird you bring this up though noticed a lot of people posting hey lets talk about deadening posts in some groups. They seem to get very mad when I mention cheaper options.
Is noise killer a latex polymer?
Really funny to see guys talk shit about asphalt based deadener. Especially when you ask them what theyre using and it turns out to be bitumen.
Well yeah I mean why wait for Black Rock and vanguard too start a forum that is a subversive commercial for their benefit when you can do it for yourself
@@RobotUnderground didnt realize this was an older video that ive already commented on. Fb and youtube be colluding to serve me content. Fb just pushed out some new code to fight against the anti tracking plugins I used and the developer hasnt found a workaround yet. Anyways right after seeing those threads on fb this is at the top of my youtube feed.
