I just got fitted for a set of these. Amazing, the ball literally jumps off the face. They were the longest clubs i tested by 10 yards and the 2nd most accurate overall. Hit about 9 or 10 different iron sets. Ping knocked it out of the park with these.
I never had Pings up until last year when I got a set of i230's, and fell in love with them. I did also pickup 7-PW of the Blueprint T's and that is such a perfect mix for my game, but these 530's look really great. I wouldnt mind building out a long 3 iron of the 530 to add to the top end of the bag. Great review, James!
from someone that just left the i500s, theres alot of club there. felt like looking down at a grain shovel lol. I bought them when I was only getting out 2-4 times a year. Not enough golf to try and play old nike VR pro combos lol
I just pick mine up today .. can’t even hit them yet because they were just made this morning.. I was fit into them a few weeks ago … hit them amazingly
Been playing for years 790/770 combo !! Just swapt to srixon zx7/zx5 absolutely amazing such a different feel so buttery soft and alot more playable !!
Good timing James I’m off to Ping on Friday to get fitted for the Ping i530 irons. My handicap is11,great food for thought prior to my fitting . Hope your cold gets better.
got fitted for these few weeks ago was between these and 790s these just felt and performed way better, only took a week for them to arrive, red dot graphite shaft recoil dart half inch longer at reg flex , went out with them on our links course here 2 days ago ,the fun is back in golf ,love them
Great Video James! Would like to see a Head to Head between the Ping´s and the P790. I already hit the P790 and it felt amazing. But visualy i like the clean simple look from the Ping more.
Just played my first round yesterday with these irons, 9 holes, shot 3 over.. awesome irons! I had the i525s. I'm glad I upgraded to the i530s.. they're sweet irons
I tested these and was like WOW! The dispersion was incredible front to back. Can’t wait for some head to head competition as these appear to be the ones to beat.
I've played golf for 56 years and iron lofts have decreased incremently over the last few years. I'mnow 66 years old and hit my P790's as far if not further than any other set of irons i've owned. The i530's still look mighty fine!
If I buy this set I'm going to get them in the retro spec which as you know is still very strong lofted as compared to irons we played just 5-10 years ago. I've dropped my 3,4, and now 5 iron because of the gap at the bottom end of the bag requires me to carry 4 wedges.
Actually if you look back over the last 60 years, it’s been happening the entire time. 60 years ago a 7 iron was 40 degrees, in the 90s they were around 36-36 and today we are seeing 27-30 in most sets. The only time you’re getting a 35 degree 7 iron today is buying blades that none of us can hit. I find it totally ridiculous, but the reality is, they sets now start at 4-5 rather than 2-3 and everyone uses 4 wedges instead of 2 or 3. It’s basically just marketing to say they have the furthest hitting 7 iron, but it’s really a 5-6 iron stamped 7if we are only looking back 25 years. But if you really look at the progression since the 60s they been strengthing lofts by 1-2 degrees every decade. It’s just gotten so ridiculous now, that people are now noticing
@BB-pg5kl It would be interesting to see. I only went i525 as I can still get 6500 spin out of the 7 iron whilst getting 180yds carry due to my swing speed. Looks like i230 or blueprints will be my next clubs.
Never thought I'd ever hear anyone say that they don't want anymore distance from their clubs but that's where we are with clubs today. If I buy these I will definitely get them in retro spec. I certainly don't want anything with stronger lofts.
@waywardwest at a certain point, distance becomes irrelevant if you sacrifice accuracy. I'm a fast swing, big hitter, but I'd definitely take more control over distance. Currently, I can generate enough spin with the standard loft i525, and they are forgiving enough for my swing speed. But I definitely think as I dial things in, I'd take something like a BP T/S or i230. But that won't be for a few years. I've only just bought these!
Just bought these with the alta quick 35gm shaft attached, I’m 67 and disabled so with an average swing speed of 65-70 with a 7 iron, I’m getting somewhere in the region of 130 yards which I’m really happy with.
The biggest problem us average golfers face is trying to get height and a good descent angle with these new lofts. My current 7 iron is 35 degrees and I tried the Ping G730's and that 7 iron is 28 degrees. Yes, I gained about 27 more total yards but the descent angle was like a rocket hitting the green. I couldn't get it into the 40's and the height was also much lower. I'm now going to have to look at some of the high launch clubs.
James, every club you put in your hands you seem to hit great (except those Ricky Fowler blades - and even those weren't that bad). I'd like to suggest a future video; "If you could only play one set of golf clubs for the rest of your life, what would they be?" I truly enjoy your content and watch your videos every day. Cheers.
I’ve been given 1 by my fitter to test on outdoor range because for some reason, I can’t adjust to the simulator on command. I’m racing to the spot to try this baby
No go I love how they look, but they don’t outperform my current set. This is strike two on Fitters for me but I did like my guy as a person only he wanted to chat more than hit lol. The kid at golf tec before that was a moron and did even less work to help me. Took 15 minutes to switch heads and get me clubs to swing. I’m honestly thinking fitting isn’t as important as the guy holing the club. If you can hit it pure you’ll do so w any club given enough time w it. But guys who just can’t center the face won’t do it any better w a new club that’s slightly different w minor tweaks. Clubs do have to stay w in a certain exact parameter.. just sayin or im just not good enough to play blueprints lol
PW wedges in the hollow body irons are a bit of a problem with those hotter faces. I should go back and watch your PXG 0317T review to see how that PW worked for you. I think that Mizuno might do a better job too with their 245 irons.
Have to admit... they sound a bit duller (=better) than my i525's, and yes, the PW is hot for delicate shots. I could not get it to work for me consistently on chip shots, so got me a S23-47 degree wedge, effectively a second PW.. works well for me
You’re clearly misinformed if you’re vaguely implying that Ping irons are in the same category as Mizuno in terms of feel or that players have left because of a lack of feel. Mizuno remains one of the largest and valuable golf brands in the world and their clubs are sold and played at all levels, certainly more so than Ping. The question is why? Why are they that much better? I can tell you that the reason it isn’t marketing.
Hi, i hope you see this! I am gonna get fit into some new Irons soon. I have played my Taylormade M4s for one year and a half now, and have grown to really dislike them. The complete lack of feel whether I hit it flush or off center is unbearable. I am deciding between the i530s, Mizuno JPX 921s and Titleist 200s. I have currently not tried the i530s. How have they been for you?
James, where’s your flash grey Oggio bag? Have you fallen out of love with it? I’m currently playing Cobra Powertech X and they go well enough to not warrant lashing out on the new Pings.
Ordered i230 6 -PW along with an i530 6i. With 4 degrees of loft difference between the i230 and i530 6 irons the i530 6i is actually my 5i. The i530 6i should be more accurate than a 5i because of its shorter shaft length.
Well yep basically got wrong numbers on the bottom . Traditionally a 7 iron is 34 degrees and standard on these is 29.5 degrees . The 5 iron is 22 degrees which as you know is a traditional 4 iron … I just bought these today and gone from Ben Hogan ptx pro irons with sftiff shaft to a reg shaft to get more stopping power .. plus easier to swing . Yes they go further but easier to hit for sure which is surely what we all want. 😊😊👍🏼
One reason I decided against getting the Ping i530 was because the lofts are jacked an entire club worth. You sound excited that the 4 iron goes as the P790 UDI iron. The loft is only 2 degrees different between the 2 clubs. I wish club reviewers would stop comparing "7 irons" and start comparing "31*" clubs.
Everyone forgets about the i230s sure they have a little less forgiveness but they look better they are not hollow construction and feel better and sound better. Get the i230s
James, I love your content. However, I'm not a big fan of the new video editing. All of these little pictures and such that are added are distracting and, in my opinion, don't add anything to the overall enjoyment of the video. I've been holding my opinion on this, hoping that it would grow on me, but sadly, it hasn't. I hope you have a blessed day.
I just got fitted for a set of these. Amazing, the ball literally jumps off the face. They were the longest clubs i tested by 10 yards and the 2nd most accurate overall. Hit about 9 or 10 different iron sets. Ping knocked it out of the park with these.
Yeah, and next year there will be a new latest and greatest. Wash, rinse, repeat…. LOL 😀
@@ivanboesky1520nope! Ping don’t replace models annually!

@@stevenwilliams436 wow the VR Pro Combos take me back what a fun iron they were!
They don’t do a 3
I want to hit the like button multiple times! The video editing quality and content are really top notch
I just pick mine up today .. can’t even hit them yet because they were just made this morning.. I was fit into them a few weeks ago … hit them amazingly
I would like to use 4,5,6 in i530 with my i230 irons. It just would need a lot of loft tweaking to make the gaps up.
Been playing for years 790/770 combo !! Just swapt to srixon zx7/zx5 absolutely amazing such a different feel so buttery soft and alot more playable !!
LOL
Good timing James I’m off to Ping on Friday to get fitted for the Ping i530 irons. My handicap is11,great food for thought prior to my fitting . Hope your cold gets better.
When you review clubs like this, it would be nice to share the listed lofts of the clubs.

Fantastic looking set of irons and a fantastic review James
Just played my first round yesterday with these irons, 9 holes, shot 3 over.. awesome irons! I had the i525s. I'm glad I upgraded to the i530s.. they're sweet irons
what differences did you notice?? Feel? Performance?
@benjaminstephan3978 I'd say they're more responsive, forgiven, a tad longer, and accurate. They sound great too!
I tried a set of these irons, and I shot a 59! And even more amazing is that I only have one arm!
If you have a curry the night before a round do you have issues with follow through the next day ?
I tested these and was like WOW! The dispersion was incredible front to back. Can’t wait for some head to head competition as these appear to be the ones to beat.

I gave an old set of DCI blacks to a kid I know getting into golf and we looked up the lofts of my PXG gen 3 and there us a 6 deg difference.
swing looks a lot more on plane James - haven’t watched for a while and much simpler looking - good job
The i530 are pretty much the power loft on the i525. Glad I got the i525 when I did. Don't need even more distance!
Exactly my thoughts. I've yet to see the comparison between i530 standard and i525 power spec.
@BB-pg5kl It would be interesting to see. I only went i525 as I can still get 6500 spin out of the 7 iron whilst getting 180yds carry due to my swing speed. Looks like i230 or blueprints will be my next clubs.

Change your shaft weight - it was a game changer for me
Are those standard lofts or power spec?
I love the sound effects Bobby!
Love butter soft irons so I carry ping eye2 BECU irons. I do like the i530 though.

I honestly think it would be the 0317T’s you know. Best of every world
I tried the i530s a couple of weeks ago, I'm seriously considering replacing my P770s Taylor Made irons with them, they're very good.
Would love to see a mizuno pro 245 review and then compared to these PINGs
I’ve been given 1 by my fitter to test on outdoor range because for some reason, I can’t adjust to the simulator on command. I’m racing to the spot to try this baby

What brand is the carry bag your using?
I had the i525s, they weren't bad, but I much prefer the feel and turf interaction of my ZX5 MKii irons.
All irons should be named with their loft not the old iron numbers.
Have to admit... they sound a bit duller (=better) than my i525's, and yes, the PW is hot for delicate shots. I could not get it to work for me consistently on chip shots, so got me a S23-47 degree wedge, effectively a second PW.. works well for me
Got the i525 in my bag, very happy with them.
What has happened to Mizuno and the saying, "nothing feels like a Mizuno." You just don't hear anything about Mizuno irons anymore.
That only means they have less of a marketing budget to pay these people to talk about them. Thats why you aren’t hearing about them more.
“Nothing feels like a Mizuno” = marketing spin 😀
They’re just not spending as much money on marketing. In tests, they still beat out competitors in feel.
I definitely hear comments from actual players always defending and sticking with their mizunos
You’re clearly misinformed if you’re vaguely implying that Ping irons are in the same category as Mizuno in terms of feel or that players have left because of a lack of feel. No matter what they do, a hollow iron is never going to feel as good as a one-piece forged iron.
Hope that spring cold doesn't linger too long mate.

There's nothing worse than being called buddy as a grown man. 😂
is this like the 0317 T?
Great content
Appreciate the videos
I tested and I didn’t see or feel much difference from my i525. The lofts are stronger so was not as much a fan. But they look and feel great.
I still want to see these compared to the i525 power spec because they are the same lofts then. Let's see if this is a true technology thing...
Ordered i230 6 -PW along with an i530 6i. With 4 degrees of loft difference between the i230 and i530 6 irons the i530 6i is actually my 5i. The i530 6i should be more accurate than a 5i because of its shorter shaft length.
The temu tracers. But well done on the rest of the video, very informative.
Not sure they will get many buyers for these as you can get the Cobra forged tec for a lot less price - which are just as good
Well yep basically got wrong numbers on the bottom .
Traditionally a 7 iron is 34 degrees and standard on these is 29.5 degrees .

All hollow body iron lofts are jacked lmao and ping doesn’t retro loft so it’s not like you couldn’t of got them
With less loft
I wanna see a review of Bryson DeChambeau's irons.
They are like $10000 or something insane.
Club Champion did a review
He was playing ping i230s
@james, just curious what your height is?
Ping sure has come a long way in looks.
Looks like that 150-yard shot might have been a 9-iron with the i530.
Are those orange dot?
Cobra Forge tech, jimmy
I got my i530s 10 days ago, fan-bloody-tastic.
They look mint 👍. Hope I hit em decent in a fitting🤷♂️
Great vid as always
Everyone forgets about the i230s sure they have a little less forgiveness but they look better they are not hollow construction and feel better and sound better. Get the i230s
i game the 425s rocket batts ❤ them
James, explain forged please.
Save yourself some money…Sub70, Caley, Takomo…same clubs for $500 and you can customize to your specs
PW - 42°
9 iron - 37°
8 iron - 33°
7 iron - 29°
6 iron - 25.5 °
5 iron - 22°
Retro lofts available 👍
That distance gap between the 8i and 7i is too wide, which is the key problem with these clubs
James, we got to see it… Ping i530 vs Takomo 101. We all want to see it… you want to do it… it’s a win - win
And next year there will be a new iron that’s perfect for golfers. Wash. Rinse, repeat……. 😀
Cost way too much, are they really much better than takomo 100
Spin is good heights are good whats not to like 🤷
Just an honest opinion on feel really aside from that I feel the title says it all
You got a cold James?
They look like my Takomo 101
James what's in your bag? Never seen a video of your bag... can we see that?...
“The better you strike them the better they feel “ …….who woulda thunk
A lot of ping clubs the feel exactly the same. Don’t be that guy
I tried them. They're really good. Way too expensive
Lit 💪 💪
I'll keep my D9 forged
Cost is a disgrace the PXG effect
Yep ..I heard them jokingly call the PingXGs 😆
You're not gonna say what? 🤔
Every irons perfect for the right golfer 🙄 , Ping i230’s are great but far too expensive

Do people still buy new , I tested some new irons against my brothers 30 year old ones and there was no difference at all .
