I got the I530 really like the feel. One thing that was odd though I ordered them in Senior Graphite and the guy in hitting bay looked at me like why would anybody not get steel in these. I guess it’s not supposed to be for 68 year olds with slow swing. Like I said felt great to me and hit them very straight
Clubs such as the i530s show just how far the power bats have come in the last 10 years. I remember testing the Taylor Made M2s around 2016-7, impossible to stop on a green with a 7i, with the i530s there would be no issues. In terms of the i530s it is classic Ping. Their original hollow bodied iron, the i500s were completely outclassed by the competition, the next generation the i525s caught up with the competition and now the i530s moves that a little bit more. It is a great iron and suitable for a very wide handicap range. The G730s are interesting. There is something about the shape of the iron that to my eyes harks back to some of the original Ping irons - I really like it. The sound though is horrendous, but over time I suspect you would get used to it. I play a Ping G425 5w and when I first got it, it was to my eyes incredibly loud (it is!), but now I just tune it out. Would like to see a high handicapper try these out
I have the 530’s and man they’re rocketships. I would like to emphasize that in a simulator they sound like a solid iron and hooks you immediately. Hitting outside, definitely have a click/ faint ting sound with the lower irons so it’s something I need to get used to. Give them a try but try to do an outside demo for the full experience. Cheers to more birdies and thanks for the video sir!
Good to see you back & I hope your hearing is ok after that test - it sounded horrific and for me, even if they offered better performance, I would not be putting them in the bag & strangely both clubs appeared on the loud side!
Just been fitted with the Blueprint s irons by Mr Newton, I did try the i530, and they are a very good iron. However, I would strongly suggest trying out the Blueprint s. They are no more difficult to hit than the i530, but feel off the face is so much softer.
years ago, tour edge had an iron with polymer.in the head. it had a great springy feel on impact, and the sound wasn't noticeable. wonder if ping's next model might go retro and squirt a little polymer in there to dampen that sound. i doubt it.
I plan on blending (4,5,6 irons) i530 irons with the (7,8,9,PW) Blueprint S. The i530 long irons were incredible during an outdoor demo, even tried an iffy lie in the rough with the 4 iron and was very impressed. Hats off to Carls Golfland in Michigan for having full iron sets available to demo EVEN IN LEFT HANDED!
I've got the blueprint S and I think you're going to have a big gap with that blend set. I suppose that doesn't really matter if you know what your expected results are going to be.
@@bretts7037 i agree that the stock lofts have a big gap. Probably The blended set will have a blend of retro and power spec lofts so there is a good transition between lofts.
I tried the i530. Although I loved the look, the feel, and sound, I hit a VERY hot one. It went nearly 20 yards further than the rest. Unfortunately, it put me off them. I'm getting a set of Srixons now.
I got an old set of Srixons that are pretty similar design. You dont get much dirt in the back of it. Think ive only ever cleaned them once when i was thinking of selling them
Curious. Which set would be better for a high handicapper (18ish) ? I like the looks of the i530 but the forgiveness of the g730 is appealing. The noise of the g730 isn't a deal breaker but not too keen on the cavity being so deep. I agree that if dirt/grass gets down there, it's going to be a pain to clean out.
I play I500, don’t care about the sound, it’s when I look at my game card and see great scores, I am happy about my clubs… if I ever change my clubs I would go I530 or I230 , I am 63 yrs old and am a 4 hcp
@MichaelNewtonGolf just an idea for a video… how about testing one length 5 irons of different models, Cobra forged tec vs tec X vs Ltdx vs Darkspeed vs some of their one length hybrids…. Just a thought. Thanks
The “sound” is inaccurate, since it’s coming from an enclosed area. These sound great on the course. More importantly, they feel great and perform great. Ended up going with these with a blind test during fitting. Based on the above factors, they out-performed t200s, callaway smoke, and barely the Taylormade p790. I loved the heavy head of the p790 but ended up going with ping with their equal “feel” and results.
Hey Michael, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
I can understand the look of club not fitting someone's eye. But the sound? If it works for me I don't care what it sounds like. Additionally, the G425 3W & 5W get them ASAP these are the best clubs ever made.
Hmm. Not my cup of tea, Michael. TBH, they sound pretty dreadful. When are you reviewing the 2024 Wilson Staff irons? I saw Rick Shiels drooling over them a few days ago and I'm keen for your reaction to them. Really I'm just seeking more external validation of my recent purchase 😉😊
It’s odd when we hear how much effort is put into making these clubs that no one in Ping HQ notices the sound is dreadful before they produce the finished article.
@@andybt3989 of course not. But given the choice of 2 equally useful/suitable clubs, then it will be the deciding factor. And there are others out there that perform similarly to G730 but sound and feel much better
@@cameronloveless1751I wouldn’t know as I’ve not tried them. I never use looks or sound to select a club. Always results. I know people who’ve selected clubs because they look nice and they pay the price. My driver, a G425 Max is loud! It pi55es off my mate! I don’t care because it performs.
Thei530 is nice but with lofts too strong. Won’t replace my I 525. Those to me feel sound and perform great for me. They did better in my fitting as I was sure would get Mizuno 525 or Srixon. Stopping power and look at top way better
The strong lofts are a marketing technique that fool some players into thinking they are hitting the ball further. In reality, slapping a 6-iron number on a club that has a 5-iron loft isn’t “increasing” your distance.

When I was fitted for the 730, I just didn't hear the sound. Maybe I was concentrating so much on the club result that sound never became an issue.
Nice to have you back.
Thank you ☺️
As an average golfer I could care less about the look or the sound . It’s the results !!!!
You could care less?

@@sylvandude1if you’re trying the Blueprints you should also try the Wilson Staff blades and CB’s
Good to see you back Mike 👍
Spin numbers like a blade on the 530. Id game these as a cat 1 golfer. Absolutely 💯
Yeah it's nutty how they get that spin and lauch combined with a strong loft. I am turfing my Blueprint S for them.
@@bretts7037 I game the old mp32, forged semi blade, but of cavity on it. These pings have just as good spin numbers.
I've been waiting on this i530 review from you! Thanks again!

Down to the Srixon zx5 mark ii or the ping i530 which I have yet to hit, but hear wonders. Trust you Michael. Which one do you prefer?
I absolutely love my G425 Max driver, but I have to agree. It is noisy, especially indoors.

I tried the 730 they performed well but couldn’t get past the sound……such a shame
I do not like that cavity on the back of the G730 lots of irons like that hard to clean i have ping 525 irons thanks for the video mike

I agree with you. Then again, PING have never been scared to make offensively loud clubs. I mean, it’s how they got their name! 😅
Sound doesn’t equal low scores!

Most people using the G730s aren't swinging anywhere this quickly, for the slower swing speed likely won't be quite as offensive!?

Ping drivers have sounded that loud from the beginning of time.

🤦 these guys talking about sound while hitting balls indoors 😂😂
Jacked up lofts making people think they are better than they are. Worst mistake ever.
