Been waiting for this review. And great to hear that it’s such an improvement over i525. Would really love to see this put up against the other best-in-category this year: T200 and MP245. I think a lot of people are looking at those clubs and would enjoy that comparison video.

I don’t often ask for anything in particular, but Ping has put temptation in my way. RIP Solheim God bless Ping.
Just got fit into these last weekend. Went 1 up retro spec with nippon modus3 120 tour and standard +3 golf pride cp2 wraps. I’m more than a little excited
Great review..glad to see it out.. Ian thanks again for fitting me into these i530s..have played them several times so far..love them...still working on the right tempo for with these with graphite shafts...little different them my old steel shafts..
The i530’s are the first irons to get into my bag in 5 years, replacing Callaway Apex. Every year I test the new irons and for 5 years never thought anything was better, for me, than my Apex’s. Ping has knocked it out of the park with the i530’s! I also feel the same with the g430 hybrid, hands down the best hybrid I ever hit, scored my first albatross with that club, holed 2nd shot into a par 5 at 220yds with a g430 4 hybrid! Now if Ping could just get rid of those turbulators, I would game their driver! Great review Fraz and Mikey!
Tried this out for the heck of it when I was testing the Blueprint S and subconsciously said “holy sh*t” after my first swing. Couldn’t believe the pop, feel and consistency. Gonna have to figure out if they’re something I can game with the lofts how they are as a guy who swings driver 118-120 mph on course but wow was I impressed.
Ended up buying these in 4 to UW after going in to get fitted for Blueprint S intending to buy 3-pw, loft range is 19 to 47 instead of 20 to 45 so the gapping is slightly wider but the ease of use and forgiveness is outstanding on i530 and the long iron offset is easily forgotten when you see an easy 4i flying 220+ carry.
Hi Ian and Mike! How would you rank these four iron models in terms of forgiveness, ball speed retention across the face/ front to back shot dispersion and spin and landing angle in order hold greens and feel and control in the wedges? P790, i530, T200 and Pro 245. Great review as always! Thank you guys!!
Im in total agreement I game the i230 just ridiculously good club but these with height, Spin distance they pack a punch and who would ignore a club extra distance with same numbers. I still can't see me giving up the i230 for a while though!
I tried the i230 vs i530 at a Ping demo night. The i230 still had the goods IMO. They felt a little softer and better strike. Would love to try the i230 vs Blue Print S.
Probably not the best place to post this but any chance we could get a battle of the "HL" irons with a more moderate swing speed player (say 70 mph 7i swing speed)? Test the Smoke HL, Qi10 HL, G430 HL, JPX 923 HL
I would love to see that as well, I got fit into the JPX 923 HL about two months ago, I tried a lot of the other irons but the Mizuno worked better for accuracy and consistency, the Taylormades were longer but not nearly as accurate
I had a set of i500 a few years ago and I absolutely hated the sound and feel of them. What have Ping done in this model to change the acoustics? The specs don't mention anything in the way of internal sound dampening - no foam or rubber inserts... So how have they made it feel and sound softer while using the same material for the face?
Can someone that plays AI Smokes play these? Went from ping g430 to smokes but want to go back to pings. Love the callaway butt. Would the power spec be similar to the smokes? Or completely different category?
Great video, and Mikey is right, they are miles better than the i525s especially in terms of sound and feel. I gamed the i525s and that was the one thing I did not like about them. I was apprehensive to try the i530s because of my experience with the i525s but I’m glad I did. Better turf interaction as well and a couple of extra yards and surprisingly forgiving for an iron of this size. A real home run by Ping with this set.
Great review guys. I’m a high handicapper, just retired and looking to get back into the game with a retirement gift to myself. Any thoughts on how these compare to the MP 245, Titleist T200 and new Apex Pro would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work! 🍺
I have Blueprint S up to 5 iron and was looking for an easy to launch 4 iron and tried the i530. Way too low launch and spin for my swing. Get fit for sure. Was spinning it at around 2200. Looks amazing, though. The finish on these irons has a great silver luster to it that looks super premium.
I had the same issue. as a lower spin, lower launch player with a slower swing speed, I couldn't make anything happen with them. Which was a bummer because I am a Ping fan and had money in my pocket.
I just purchased these with kbs 110 stiff tour vee. What ball would you recommend for this iron? I've been playing with a Taylormade Tour Response. Thinking of switching to a titleist ball. My 6iron speed avg is 86mph
Wow, thank you for this video! Im at the point in age to really start thinking about a senior set of irons. Currently playing Miura TC 201’s with 950 GH, 5 -PW. Awesome irons but a wee bit much in the 5 iron. Would i be off base to do a Ping 530 in 5 and 6 iron and see what happens Ian and Mike?? Thanks!
Been very curious recently as to if the 4 iron from this set (or other similar ones) could work at the top end of a bag. I have a 20 degree hybrid and an 18 degree driving hybrid that I bounce back and forth with as my gap between my 4 iron and 3-wood. Driving iron isn't versitile enoungh at times, and I have a hard time hitting hybrids. I see a 19 degree 4 iron from a set like this, and it really makes my mind wonder. What would a head to head look like between say a Ping i530 4 iron and a Ping Crossover 19 degree driving iron?
I get people saying loft is irrelevant with the club design, but how do you blend these irons into specialist wedges, or if avoiding specialist wedges, what does that end of the bag look like? Say you have your PW at 42degrees flying 131 yards, the UW at 47degrees flying 117yards, what lofted Vokey will slot in next to carry 105 yards at that swing speed? Would love be in interesting vid aiming to put to bed the 'jacked lofts' debate.
This is essentially the exact issue I'm working through right now. I just got fit for i530s, 5-PW,UW with standard lofts. With 5 degree gaps, I think you go 52 degree for 105 carry and 56 degree for 90 yards. Just got to get the appropriate bounce and sole grind for your conditions.
curious to know if in the power spec if the higher launch and better descent angle is still a thing in these irons. I saw the i500 loft spec review and it blew my mind! Just wondering if that still holds true for these irons!
The CG is so low, it launches the ball really high so it needs the loft to offset it. I just fitted for these last week. I was gaming Miura TC 201s and it's so much easier to hit the ball high and SUPER forgiving. My slight misses had 90% of the ball speed instead of a huge drop off. I went with retro spec and they'll still be a full club longer than my old set.
@@edwinchan6521 yes! Definitely test and fit for them. They spin a bit less so you'll want a shaft that has more spin. I switched from 130x $ taper to 115x Modus and they were money. 7 iron carry went from 172yard avg to 199yard avg on the standard spec.

Went and tested both t200, t350, and i530 today. i530 felt, sounded, and played better. These are incredible irons.

this is a good test
And dialing back speed for more control. I can’t see how he needs to hit a 7i 180 yards to break par.
And with some Axiom shafts too!
I can confirm t200 feels like cheating. 190 doesn’t feel far away and I can go for 200 yard pin and not have to swing hard
These are amazing. Hit these and the p790s and these won by a long shot.
Same.
Really glad to hear Ian mention the importance of the golf ball with the iron, people tend to overlook this
