Anti-viral pill molnupiravir shows promise against COVID, other viruses

- Molnupiravir, a pill that could stop coronavirus in its tracks, is being tested in clinical trials and, so far, the results look promising -- and not just for COVID-19. Researchers hope it will be able to treat other viruses, as well.
It's not yet approved for use in the general public, but early results from clinical trials have researchers hopeful it'll succeed.
Molnupiravir was developed by Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics. It's intended to be taken as early as the first day someone tests positive for COVID-19, essentially freezing the virus from multiplying and, ultimately, mitigating the symptoms.

Molnupiravir is i guess similar to Ivermectin only a different name and packaging. Ivermectin is a cheap drug. Am just wondering how come Merck does not take seriously the reports of doctors regarding the good result of treating Covid 19 with Ivermectin .
Different meds, they have different binding sites on the virus, but both reduce viral load, and replication, this is how Antiviral work, if they can find the right type of antiviral that does the best job of suppressing the virus from replicating it could be very helpful. Part of the problem is timing and most of the time they are given too late in the course of treatment! Example giving Remdesivir when a patient is on a ventilator is just ridiculous, using this product outpatient is key and hopefully that will "Prevent" people from getting too sick.
Yes, this is similar to ivermectin. The only difference is ivermectin is cheap and this one is very expensive.
they took it seriously enough to change the formula a little get a new name and new patent and promote it as the newest life saving treatment for covid. merk owned the ivermectin patent so you know they want to cash in cause they knew the anecdotal evidence about ivermectin cutting covid wasn't going to go away no matter how much these money hungry crooks spoke out against it.

Depends where you live. Here in Australia is between $7 and $40, if you live in some uncivilised country that doesn't have universal healthcare, its close to $800 I believe.

This is the medication that is similar to ivermecin only more expensive and not available yet. It is also made by the same company that lost its patent on ivermecin recently, Merck. Ivermectin has multiple mechanisms of action against covid whereas molnupiravir has only one. Ivermectin is a known antiviral against other viruses as well
I've had Covid, it was like I had a really bad Flu, took me 2 weeks to recover.
You want to be taking Ivermectin. The website of the FLCCC Has doctors who will prescribe it to you.

I was tested positive on Friday.and prescribed molnupiravir and now it's Sunday and I'm feeling much better.... I would recommend it. I had already had 2 shots of the Pfizer vaccine in late spring of 2021.
Can I ask if your symptoms on the day of testing positive were mild or moderate? I am presenting a research topic on Molnupiravir for my class and wanted to get some input from the general public of their experience.
@TBZ BTS moderate to severe. My head hurt so bad...my temp was 102.4 and had been higher during the night. I finished my meds last night and although I don't have much energy, I feel like I'm going to get well. I still have congestion, but it is mild.

It's good to hear that your symptoms are improving and you are adhering to the regimen! My husband had been to the same clinic 3 days before and received one of the last 2 infusions of monoclonal antibodies...he is 67 and has several comorbidities...COPD and PAD as well as past open heart surgeries.
I am very appreciative to have received this medication. We both were already taking the recommended vitamin regimine as our daily routine. My husband works part time and has returned to work (masks required) . I hope I gave you ample information for your paper.
I consider myself lucky to have received molnupiravir....it seemed to have helped me a lot.
I live in a small town, and had to send my cousin to another nearby town to get my medication. Maybe that is why we were chosen for the trials?? I'm just guessing.

They are advertising it so I am very interested to know the price. I suspected that it is very expensive, unlike the dirt cheap but effective Ivermectin, but like all expectations we need to actually find out the factual truth on it.

I believe the non-subsidised cost, that you need to pay if you're in an uncivilized country without universal healthcare, is somewhere near $800.

I received it under emergency use....it seemed to help me within a couple of days.
I hope this will encourage others. I miss the old normal. The nightlife in the Philippines you guys had when you took your vacation here is long gone. 24/7 convenience store are closed except for 7-11. Atleast this is best for the people who dislike vaccine but into pills. This is the best solution

So here's a no-brainer thought: why don't they do exactly the same study with Ivermectin and settle the issue; probably because it will have the same outcome with no income for the drug company.

Cheap drugs like fluvoxamine and ivermectin... there is no money to be made. It is bizarre how they are saying ivermectin and fluvoxamine should not be used due to lack of safety data when these drugs have pretty good safety profiles and have been used for the past few decades. Yet now they want to only allow this new experimental drug, which its safety profile is unknown. According to wikipedia Molnupiravir article (see it before they censor it), a whistleblower had warned that similar drugs have mutagenic properties... which means they can alter DNA. So how can anybody in good faith say this drug is safer than the likes of ivermectin or fluvoxamine when these drugs have been around for decades yet this has been tested for months.
