Watched this video before Father's Day, and my children decided to buy it for my husband. We're now watching it again with him to play it for the first time today, and while watching we were wondering if Jen ever watches back your videos, such as this one, turns to you and says something along the lines of, "Richard, you know I wouldn't have made that move?!" lol Inquiring minds want to know. :D Thanks for another great video!
Hey Rahdo at the end of the second round, about 39:50, you grabbed the wrong card from the discard pile. You originally drew a card with a base on it. What you could've done with your fuel was play the base card first, scoring a Level 3 Upgrade, then play an energy crystal card and score a Level 2 upgrade with the end of round bonus
Yes, at 39:18 if you had played the base you could upgrade then play another crystal so at the end of the round when you get the base card you could have scored again.
38:40 Richard put the whale care on top of another card. Richard discarded a card with a base on it at 39:25, then when he realized he could play 2 cards and retrieved the card again , at 39:49, he pick the wrong card that did not have a base on it.
You could have played the base first and then the crystal so you would have "crystal crystal base crystal" then with the "end of round" base you would have the other one
39:20 shows the card you originally discarded, when you remembered you were playing two card this round you pick up the wrong one at 39:47. If you had the original card, you could play the base card first, followed by a crystal. This would allow you to upgrade once for the first base and a second upgrade for the free base (assuming that is allowed).
So if you've already placed a diver, and you put another treasure card under it, if you place a second diver on that treasure, they don't score for the ones above it a second time?
hello! i have a question regarding the 2 player drafting mechanism. say it's the 3rd round and the first turn of that round. i have 3 periscopes, and my opponent has 1. i draw 4 cards, my opponent draws 2. i keep 1 card and give my opponent 3, he keeps 1 card and gives me 1 card. now, at the start of the second turn, i have 1 card in my hand and i draw another 3 cards so that i have 4 in my hand (because i have 3 periscopes), but my opponent has 3 cards in his hand and he has only 1 periscope. is he forced to burn a card to the discard pile so that he has 2 in his hand?
sometimes you can give them a card that you know is not good for them, so better to give them that one, rather than them drawing blind and maybe getting something perfect
do you mean upgrade to the bigger aquarium? any of the upgrades are equally good if you can pull them off. i just went with propulsion because it was the simplest guaranteed points :)
That's correct. I wonder if Rahdo was working off an earlier iteration of the rule book. All the while watching this I realized it didn't make sense to draft for something that would happen AFTER revealing cards. It's unfortunate that that clarification somewhat invalidates this runthrough 😞

she never watches my videos actually :)
My husband and I played, and it was so much fun, we played a 2nd time. Thanks again. :)
At 37:34 he notes that the only lower level upgrade Jen can do is the divers, but she also has the fuel tanks available to go up to level 2.

@32:00 Jen couldn't have known of the shark, as that was 1 of the 3 cards he is 'about to play' this turn ;).

noted... thanks
Glad to see another decent drafting game for 2 without a dummy player.
Also, it looks like the game name in the description for both this and the Final Thoughts videos are messed up.
fixed! :)
at 37:36 Gen can also Level up her fuel.
noted... thanks
The propeller upgrade seems inferior to the others if you don't do it early.
ideally you want to get the lvl1 and the lvl2 done in the first round to really get the most out of it
39:47 he picked up the wrong card; he could have done a level 2 upgrade and a level 1 upgrade (the original card had a base on it)
i don't remember what happened at that moment, but you're only allowed to make one upgrade per base :)
You could have played the base first and then the crystal so you would have "crystal crystal base crystal" then with the "end of round" base you would have the other one

yup, that would have been a great call! :)

nope, each treasure can only be scored once...

you get to draw up to your hand size if you didn't get enough cards from other players
***** i know that. but what if i get too many cards? :(
ah, sorry. basically you get to keep the extra cards, so you can benefit from the investment other players have made in their periscopes :)
ok thank you! :)
Whats the downfall to trashing a card? Like why would you ever give the opponent a card in that case... or did I miss that part?
sometimes you can give them a card that you know is not good for them, so better to give them that one, rather than them drawing blind and maybe getting something perfect
Would it not have been better to upgrade to 5 instead for first round
do you mean upgrade to the bigger aquarium? any of the upgrades are equally good if you can pull them off. i just went with propulsion because it was the simplest guaranteed points :)
reminds me of the game deep sea adventure
Was that an Ursula reference from the little mermaid at 28:40? How apt :-)
good ear! i wouldn't expect anyone other than jen to get that reference! :)
Don't both players reveal their cards BEFORE choosing to discard and pass your cards?
That's correct. I wonder if Rahdo was working off an earlier iteration of the rule book. All the while watching this I realized it didn't make sense to draft for something that would happen AFTER revealing cards. It's unfortunate that that clarification somewhat invalidates this runthrough 😞
Please kids don't try to shuffle your cards like this at home
you can give only 1 card to the opponent, not two
timestamp please
