Even after buying this game I was little skeptical with one read of the rules. But wow, this game is fun! alot of interesting decision s to make. Very worthwhile, family weight game. Glad I purchased it!
I played it once and I was quite disappointed considering that Antoine Bauza designed 7 Wonders. The components are beautiful but the gameplay is weak in my opinion.
Thanks for the review, Zee. Helpful as always. Definite pass on this one, though. I have 7 Wonders, Takenoko and Ghost Stories and love all these from Mr Bauza very much but this new one doesn't appeal to me. Zee's enthusiastic final sales pitch usually helps me get at least curious if not thrilled about a game but I just felt nothing watching this gameplay description.
treasure hunters 100% . i owned and played both, oceanos is very disappointing experience. Treasure hunter: you choose from 10 or so cards, looking at the constantly changing targets.... Oceanos: choose from 2~3 cards each time (what ?), every round and game the same exact goals ( boring)

Looks like a great game to play casually.
Very clean design. Players power up themselves without complex text-heavy special abilities.
@Zee This looks great! Do you feel it replaces 7 wonders or is there room for both in your collection?
About the only game to grab my attention this year! Way to go Zee, amazing review! This ones going on my Cool Stuff inc. wishlist.
This game looks amazing. I'm going to buy it. Thanks
Any eta on release date for this?
So, a twist on 7 Wonders drafting with a spacial cards placement. But i think this theme will not appeal 7 Wonders fans. But may be good for families.
so theres no interaction at all in this game other than the drafting?
This one is in my wheelhouse, looks good
The box looks pretty beat up, what happened there? :D
The game looks cool. Every submarine looks different?
Maybe the box is another victim of Zee's car.
It was our one-and-only prototype. It's traveled a lot :)

Zee explained it correctly. Players reveal their cards before the Expedition Captain chooses a card.
Indeed, I was taught this rule wrong and checked the rulebook too fast.
Thanks

I wonder how it plays with 2 players. Drafting games sometimes don't work so great with just two players.
Check out Rahdo's runthrough. It's a 2 player run through so you can see how it plays with 2 players :)
Amanda Wong Oh I'm so glad he decided to runthrough this! I just saw it in my sub box. :)
How has this game held up over the years?
I have never played it, but Zee has dropped his rating to a 7 on BGG.
Wow, I looked at it before watching this review and it look quite confusing and boring...maybe I was wrong. I'll take a new look at it.
Funny this game just seemed to disappear - never hear about it any more
This or Treasure Hunter?

@@ks3333 ummm does Treasure Hunters let you build & level up submarines?
Love 7 Wonders...not feeling this one though.
O-SAY-ANOS (Océanos) ;)
Ack my wallet!
