    You had me at sleepy kitty tokens.

    I cringed when you "tossed the kitten away" and loved your little dialogue with Jen there. Sending the kittens back to the crazy cat lady would work for me. :)

      We just say we are "shooing them out of the garden." Rahdo is an evil dog person, it seems.

    My OCD is firing like crazy here. The score track is neither the width (too wide) nor the length (too short) of the combined garden plots. That said, the game looks like fun. Thx Richard.

    22:35 Jen didn't completed the garden, there are 2 empty spots left ;)

    @18:20, you should take the 2 piece. In 3 turns, you get the cloche(?sp), not that you probably care about a 4yo video. :) Thanks for making it

    Phenomenal production. Just got my copy a few days ago and looking forward to playing it. I got a feeling this will be a very effective gateway game for noobs.

    28:14 In scoring the second garden, Richard counts 4 cloches (sp?). It's actually 2 cloches and 3 kittens.

    wow i bought patch work for me my wife to play and we just enjoy it. Now this game looks incredibly fun to play. I may have do the same and give away patchwork.
    Just add worker placement and you will have a feast for odin.

    You skipped over the diagonal space. You can collect garden tiles on diagonals too.

    LOL leave it to Uwe to include a die and NOT use it as a randomizer!

    Thanks for the runthrough!
    Trying to think if this is worth owning in addition to patchworks... It does seem more forgiving, with the most 'interactive' move being choosing tiles such that it won't trigger a refill for your opponent. I would say the most interesting part is how scoring works, though not sure if that's enough to differentiate it from Patchwork as a 2p game...

      Sea i was wandering the same thing but hey it's uwe so i probably end up buying it anyway...

    • @jaxommm
      @jaxommm 7 років тому +1

      I absolutely think it is worth owning. We've played it almost a dozen times, and there is more to it than Radho lets on. I do think it is at its best at four players though. Rahdo probably didn't experience it at that number.

    • @alienslysly
      @alienslysly 7 років тому

      jaxommm Owh? What other subtleties have you found? Unfortunately like Rahdo most of my plays would be 2p, though once in a while I'd have more though for those I've always resort to KoT & other lighter games.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  7 років тому +1

      correct, i only played it 2p. i can certainly appreciate that it would be more engaging with more at the table :)

    • @jaxommm
      @jaxommm 7 років тому

      For one thing, if I am the first player in a 4p game I always land on the single arrow space on the board (including at the corner, which means I will take a tile on the diagonal) and we just felt a lot more tension wondering if, as we planned ahead for our move, it would pan out. There was more of race to acquire the beehives. It was also much more likely that someone would spend a cat token in order to fill up the Gardener Row if only 1 or 2 spaces were empty. We don't feel any need to do that in the 2 player. The 2P feels a lot more forgiving. I can see why Rahdo considers it lighter than Patchwork. I think it benefits from having more players in the race, and it definitely is a racing game. I think it will be my gateway game of choice for years to come when I want to introduce non-gamers to something more modern. It's refined and beautiful. We liked it a lot more than the bloated monstrosity that is Feast for Odin.

    Rahdo, another EXCELLENT review, can't wait to get my hands on this one! Love Patchwork but this just takes to another level! Any idea when it may be available on Amazon? I just checked and it's not there yet.

      There isnt't a plan for U.S distribution yet. Your best shot is to get it imported. Funagain.com may have it in stock atm, ridiculously overpriced though.

      Peter Ratcliffe Very true. I had someone pick it up for me from the Essen convention. I have played it 4 times now and I think it's a blast. Not as good as Patchwork imo, but soo smooth and soothing. My girlfriend is in love with it though so that's a huge plus.

    "If you can see in a queue, that one of these pieces is PERFECT for you (...) toss a kitty away, get this out on a board and claim them instead"
    That's harsh men. Not cool.
    And then Jen just pointed it out after i wrote this comment, not cool x2.

      @rahdo  7 років тому +1

      yup

    • @jaxommm
      @jaxommm 7 років тому

      I was being polite/rhetorical. Read the rules again..."At the end of the game, each beehive is worth 1 point" (7).

    • @jaxommm
      @jaxommm 7 років тому

      The double beehive acts as a tie-breaker.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  7 років тому

      right, so since there's 2 beehives on the card, it's worth 2 points...

      I am going by how I was taught the rule at Essen, so maybe they taught it to me wrong. I dunno.
