Love watching you work. My late dad was time served painter & Decorater. We where going to be & daughter as opposed to & son. I wanted to work along side him he was a perfectionist. Sadly just after I passed my exams & got into college at 17, my dad at just 47 died of a massive heart attack. I went on to be a nurse instead.
Thank you... and sorry to hear your dad passed so young. I think being a nurse is really great and so under estimated on how hard a job it is. I can imagine the stress is a lot higher in nursing. Thanks for all your hard work.
Another great clip. The Skill Sander looks a great little tool for those tight areas, done a little research on it but cant find those replacement finger sanding sheet - where are they available from?
I have sheets that have that finger inset as a pice you can rip but I means you don’t have the whole sheet for the rest of the sander so a bit of a rubbish design - not to mention it has a rip for a multi tool sanding attachment and one that I believe is just what would be left o If you took it for the multi tool - rubbish design all round
Hi , I’m look to turn varnished woodwork (doors, facings, skirtings) into white gloss paint, what would be the correct 1st coat of paint to use after I’ve sanded the woodwork …. Many thanks
All depends on the wood... scrapers are better for hardwood. Electrical sanders are a must especially on certain surfaces it saves time and money. Thanks
Great video & one I’ve been waiting for as I’m about to do the house timber facias and soffits. What is the make & model number of that sander please ? Cheers
Biggest problem is the back of the boards was likely never primed hence absorbing moisture and then blowing the likely cheap standard contract gloss. Atleast with proper preparation and quality exterior gloss and undercoat the paint stands half a chance.
@@PaintingandDecorating that is a factory primer intended to keep the wood dry and sealed during shipping and storage. It's not intended to be painted directly over.

What was the first step you did? Painted with clear liquid? Peelstop? Fungicidal wash?
It was just warm soapy water to clean the gutter down.. thanks

That was from B&Q but I'm sure you can get them from a few places. thanks

Any bare wood needs a wood primer if no bare wood then wipe over with methylated spirits and two undercoat then gloss. thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating … thank you so much for the advice 👍
No scraper for this one? I've got to do something similar to my wooden garage doors.

Was that sandex aluminium wood primer or just grey undercoat?
Great job.. What primer and top coat did you use?👍☘️
Thanks... Sandtex primer/ undercoat.. then Exterior Dulux undercoat finished using gloss.
Great video & one I’ve been waiting for as I’m about to do the house timber facias and soffits.

Thank you... sander is SKIL 7242 AA Multi sander
@@PaintingandDecorating nice one - many thanks, although I can’t anyone who sell it 😔
how many coats of paint?
Prime, undercoat gloss, sometimes two gloss. When it comes to protecting the more coats the better. Thanks
Wasn't this a new build you did in December 2019? Why did it fail so quickly?
Sorry for late reply... pre primed timber and the primer failed.
What liquid were you brushing on at the beginning of the video?
That was just water and some washing up liquid just to clean down.. thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating Cheers.
very nice
Thank you.
Following your videos. Shall I ask you how much do you charging for this kind of small job?
Kind regards,
Csongor

Thanks.. I think the wood was pre-primed with some cheap stuff.
