Follow these steps for exterior paint removal and preparation:
    1. Pressure wash the exterior to remove dirt, mold and pollutants. During this process you will also remove loose paint.
    2. Scrape and pound in loose nails. We prefer a replaceable carbide blade with a handle for pounding loose nails.
    3. Sand the surface to remove dead wood and feather out old paint.
    4. Blow off the surface to remove dust.
    5. Caulk expansion joints, making sure to wait the required dry time before priming.
    6. Mask the windows, lights, etc.
    7. Prime where needed. In our case we used peel bond primer.
    8. Top coat. In our case we used Duration.

Almost 10 years old and still one of the best videos on this subject that I found on UA-cam - thanks.

Is there a dust shroud you recommend? And does it work? I have the GV5000 and have a tongue and Groove wood house w/lead. I already have the HEPA vacuum from a previous part of the house(I used a paint shaver before but this part of the house is not that bad)...also trying out both Peel Bond and Peel Stop to see which works better. Also I was testing some MH ready patch for the peeled areas of paint, but if the peel bond fills then I will back of that..just testing one area for now...

Have you used a paint eater at all? I see a fair amount of guys in my area using them. Just curious on your feedback.

It seems like all the pros are using Sherwin Williams. Does anybody know what their fascination with it is?

We need more workers like you in America. Most cut corners

Really nice job. However, I've used Duration by Sherwin Williams and I find it fades badly in the sun and simply can't handle salt air. I've since switched to using either Old Village or Behr Ultra and have had vastly superior results here in New England on the coast where paint takes a beating year round. I can only imagine it would last that much longer in less harsh conditions. I don't typically like to rag on a product but after many fails by duration I rate it as junk paint at best.

Been searching and watching then searching and this video is no BS right to the point w/ product and tool info. Wish I found this an hour ago. Now I can share with my boys to see what type of work we'll be doing this spring. Excellent video. Thanks so much.

Well done. This was exactly the information I was looking for. Clearly communicated. I have been having a difficult time finding a product like Peel Bond.

Great video. Do It Yourself (DIY) is fraught with fear and insecurity when you take on a task that you have never done before. Videos such as this one helps to quiet the fear and uncertainty in a DIY project.

I’m painting my house for the first time. I never heard of peel bond so your video was very helpful.
