My family always said “I love you” whether we were getting off the phone with each other or leaving the house. I lost my sister to cancer last July and she was the last of my original family members. My mom and dad have already passed away. I feel I never hear anyone say “I love you” to me anymore. I’ve been depressed ever since my sister died but hearing “I love you” again just lifts my spirits and makes me feel better!! Thank you, Emily!!
I agree. I never get to see them till late on Saturday, but it is my end of the day ritual. I lay down after working my tail off all day...and Emily is so relaxing to listen to and she makes everything fun and a bit educational. I've learned a lot about applying my makeup better, just by watching her!
I love that you continue to do drugstore and a wider spectrum of brands. I'm getting so tired of always seeing the same brands as if there's nothing else out there. And even more the weird snobbism and plain lack of information of people that push luxury and high end who pretend every boring mediocre release is amazing and such high quality and so worth the money 🙄So many lower price brands have the same or better performance than high end or luxury. Lots of underrated brands like Violet Voss, TheBalm, PUR or Stila do have great products even if no one talks about them. Not even talking about Kbeauty which constantly has their skincare and make up formulas duped by Western brands who act like they're doing something new. And most super hyped high end eye shadow has nothing on indie which is so much more affordable.... Consumers are missing out on a lot of brands they may love because its always the same handful of brands pushed
I blame whatever new movement the TikTok generations are following like sheep. Vegan, cruelty free, paraben free, gluten free but the products they're promoting isn't usually cheap and whoever is promoting them usually aren't disclosing that their vid is an ad. 👀
@@LoveABun I mean the different indie brands. There are quite a few out selling single shadows and palettes. Quite a bit cheaper than let's say PMG, CT, ND or Danessa Myricks. Especially if you're in the USA shipping isn't bad either.
I used to use the Maybelline stick foundation in middle school, I bought it the other day for the nostalgia. I was actually really impressed! It’s my go to everyday foundation now. 😊

So much of what I love about the drugstore makeup I own is that it was almost always an "Emily Approved" product. The older I get the more I am now appreciating the makeup at the drugstore...although I do still love my Pat McGrath blushes and Natasha Denona palettes! Hey Emily! Quite a few of the products you're promoting today have been members of my collection for a long time. The CoverGirl Instant Cheekbones blush kit beats my Estee Lauder singles every day. I'm on a third Rimmel bronzer, which leaves my new Too Faced Milk Chocolate looking lovely but lonely. And that Elf 10 pan eyeshadow kit has been replaced twice now, so why am I so smug about finding NARS duos, Natasha Denona Baby trios and Pat McGrath singles at TJMaxx for super discount prices that are still more expensive than the Elf that I truly love? I guess you can take me out of the drugstore, but I'm still a drugstore makeup girl at heart! BTW, I think maybe you have underrated your influence - Rimmel's Stay Matte pressed powder and Milani's eyelid primer did not become popular until YOU found them. Give yourself credit where it's due! It’s the shiny, weighty packaging that attracts me to the expensive stuff. But it’s my Maybelline vanilla eyeshadow that gets paired with fancy palettes, so it’s the real winner.
Theory-how much of this is no longer talked about because it is considered “old” or simply part of a brand’s “standard” line? I have known about the Covergirl Instant Cheekbones since 1980 or 81 because my mom used it and I used it in HS. I am so old I remember when it had a CONTOUR shade in there and there used to be a graphic showing you where to put all the steps. InLOVE my Milani palette and still use it. Maybe this stuff is meant more for the average consumer? Not a bad thing at all I think.
Not only old but it doesn't fit whatever makes things go 'viral' nowadays. If it's not promoted by a mega influencer in a billion platforms with whatever new hip movement the youngsters are hooked on right now like vegan, clean beauty, cruelty free, whatever free. 👀

The Cover Girl Instant Cheekbones blushes are IT. I wore the Peach Perfection shade back in high school (mid-90s) and it made my eyes pop like crazy. I tried the blush again last year after 20+ years and while the frost is pretty dated, the color, pigmentation, blendability and wear power are insanely good. The beauty community is sleeping on this vintage blush!!!

I purchased that NYX Epic Smoke Liner in Nude Haze because of your recommendation and I love it! I used to use those Covergirl Cheekers and then Instand Cheekbones in High School. I will definitely have to go back to those! I have hazel eyes that lean green and I used to love the Almay eye makeup line that was designed to highlight each eye color. The plum mascara for green eyes was my go-to in high school; it was awesome!
Something I find underrated that nobody ever talks about, not technically drugstore but often drug store prices, is Sephora eyeshadow pallets! I think they are so good and have collected a bunch of them since they often go on sale for under $10! They are great quality, most options have a nice combination of shimmer/matte and light/dark and are perfect for when you are traveling. I’d love to see beauty influencers try these and share thoughts because I use mine more than any drugstore pallets.
OMG, you are SO right! I bought one of their palettes in 2019 that was recommended by Dominique Sachse. It was a large one with like 15-20 shades. Those powders stayed in place for a good 10 hours!!! Incredible pigment. And they went on so easily and smoothly. I’ve still got it and use it. I’d love to know what cosmetic company makes their palettes-or at least did back then. Really impressive.

_Before highlighter was cool_ I remember myself feeling terribly guilty for using "THE OBSCENE EXPENSIVE STUFF EXCLUSIVE FOR THE STAGE" (I was a ballet dancer who saved money for MAC 😅). A touch of Nylon eyeshadow on top of the cheekbones in real life and I felt like a mythological creature ✨ NGL, still one of my favs of all time for a non subtle look. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
I love eyeshadow as highlighter! So many highlighters, IMO, are too subtle and that's fine sometimes. But, majority of the time I want "glitter boococky" as Theresa Is Dead would call it. 😁 I want "meat sweats" shine but with sparkle. 💚🖤

I bought the Maybelline Fit Me powder the other day in pressed form and I was shocked how blurring it is without looking powdery or making the skin dry! I thought it would be awful because it actually is quite powdery but it’s fabulous! I use a brush to apply! I will caution I bought the translucent shade and it is very light! It works for me because I am fair but if your skin is darker try to match your shade!!!
I agree 100% with the covergirl instant cheek bones, I have the exact same shade you used and I use it every single day. That is saying a lot considering I have a huge amount of blush both high end and drug store but there is just something about the formula and the ease of application.. it goes on smooth and even every time and looks flawless.
I love the Physicians Formula diamond lip plumper, a nice minty feel, not sticky and perfect for a quick lip application. One of my favorites that I always go back to, is the Maybelline volume Express plush mascara, in the turquoise tube, gives my lashes the volume and lift I like.
The CG blush trio has been around since the late 70s, early 80s. It was my favorite blush when I was in high school. I got the pink one and there was a plum color too. I also used them for eyeshadows because I've always loved a monochromatic look. I need to go out and get me a couple.
I still have The mad for matte palette and I use it everyday for my eyes, my brows and my nose contour ! Each time I apply my shadows I can't stop thinking : what a great palette !
Wow!! If you’ve been able to go through a hole tube of that primer with all the stuff you get including PR then it MUST be good! I’m going to have to order online. My stores around me haven’t sold Hard Candy in probably 15 years!

emily, when i first discovered youtube, many many many years ago, u were my first beauty subscription. now i follow many and thru there years i gravitated toward the people talking more about the high end beauty products. WHAT A FOOL I WAS! i recently had to travel to Los Angeles for a medical emergency, had no time to pack, and didnt bring my usual pre packed beauty case bc no room, just wanted to get on plane and get off with carryon. after the emergency was basically over and i had time to settle in for the next few weeks I needed to purchase makeup so decided to buy drugstore and needed guidance. found your video and purchased the Mad for Matte Nude Mood by ELF. UM… i have every damn eyeshadow pallette made, Pat McGrath, Natasha Denona, Tom ford, charlotte, Mario etc but that ELF pallette is now my favorite! 😂 Thank you and i’m back watching every video you put out again. I’m also enjoying their impossible primer, and the essence glow serum primer (the glow recipe dupe) Also I am recently loving maybelline fit me matte and poreless liquid foundation - which I swear rivals my armani luminous silk and dior forever matte foundations. Ive used high end products exclusively for years and just started trying drug store products- so impressed! Because of your past videos, I am now a die hard fan of the instant cheek bones and the L’Oréal lumi glow palette in moonkissed. I had forgot all about the instant cheekbones and I now have them all! Also I found the L’Oréal pallet in CVS. The incognito concealer is nice too. My daughter also loves that physician’s formula gloss. These brands should be thanking you!! 😊
I totally agree about the Hard Candy primer! I don't understand why the Elf Power Grip gets all the hype, when it looked terrible on me every way I tried it, but the hard candy comes through every time. So underrated!
The charcoal shade in Mad for Matte is the ONLY color on earth I have found that makes sense in my very dark brows! I got it when it was new and kept it longer than I should have for that reason, lol.
I literally reach for my Incognito concealer over all the other ones I own! I love using it with the Wet n Wild Tinted hydrator, or underneath the Elf powder foundation. I can't thank you enough for talking about these products because I use so many of them. AND, I'm adding the rest to my wish list!!!❤ PS I never used to use an eyeshadow primer until you introduced me to the one from Milani. It is the ONLY one I own!!
My underrated makeup product is a brow pencil I found at the Dollar Tree. I thought it’s from the Dollar Tree so it’s probably going to suck but since it was only $1.25 I bought it anyway and I’m so glad that I did!! It’s the perfect color for my brows and it gives me those hair like strokes and it literally last all day and it doesn’t smudge. I want to go get a couple more of them. I usually use the Benefit Precisely Brow but I am constantly reaching for my new brow pencil from Dollar Tree. I think I might even like it better then the Benefit one.
We all have cut our "teeth" on drugstore make-up unless your mother has expensive taste in high end make-up. We want to feel our best selves and that doesn't mean breaking the bank to do it. I started out using Cover Girl, Maybelline and Wet n Wild. I purchased the Nyx eye pencil on your recommendation and it's fantastic !!! Thank you for always keeping it real and realistically priced for the average hardworking person !!!
The Rimmel bronzer is the best for equestrians and other outdoor athletes! It's not as sweatproof and waterproof as it thinks it is (there's definitely some brown transfer on the inside of my riding helmet) but there's still some on my face after hours of riding or working out (I even use it as a transition shade on my eyes for August in the Deep South)
This morning I wanted to be minimal so I used NYX wonder contour stick for both contour, highlight AND on my eyes with the darker shade as a crease and outer corner and the highlight in the center. It would be a good way to travel to avoid liquids on a plane.
I love the Milani eye primer and Cover Girl Instant Cheekbones that you recommended, so I definitely want to try a few of these not talked about products. Thank you for highlighting affordable makeup.
Cover Girl Instant Cheekbones is a wonderful blush/highlight!! I've got Sophisticated Sable, and the peach toned one...Can't wait to extend the collection, and buy your recommendation today! Agreed 💯 on the Milani all inclusive palette, I pack that one palette when I travel..so convenient! Another great underrated product are Essence Extreme Last eye pencils.. I've got all the neutral shades, they just glide on, and actually remain on my waterline! And I've got watery eyes + an oil slick for skin, and it's the only one that doesn't run down my face 😆 and they're under $5.00 at Ulta. Love you too!

Elf Mad for Matte, Yes! Love that palette. Well rounded and performs spectacularly. Can't be without my Milani eye primer. I just recently bought a fresh tube a few weeks ago. The Walmart tag said $7.98 which I didn't bat an eye at, I know, inflation. But my receipt said $3.98 when I got home. And I kind of got worried because I thought oh no it's going on clearance and is going to be discontinued I thought, my heart began racing. I sure hope it's not. Thanks for the info on the Cover Girl cheek products. I have a lot of Tarte Amazonian clay cheek blushes that I need to get through first but Cover Girl blushes are going to be my next purchase.

I have refused to use it for years, as the products in the 1990's were awful! Nice to hear they're making a good blush. I used the rose in the 80's and lived it! The reason the packaging on the press powders from rimmel is so basic is because they are meant to be depotted and placed on makeup compacts. All of them have a tiny hole on the back to take the pans out and transfer. The reason I don’t like the milani all in one palette is because the bronzer is soooo orange/yellow that doesn’t work for me, I wish they would put the silky matte bronzer shades in them instead. I feel the maybelline eyeshadow quad in “chi latte” is really good and looks great on the eyes, same with their face sculpt pallettes.

I am shocked you mentioned the Revlon colorstay pressed powder!! I have never seen it mentioned and I have been through probably 100 or more of them. It's what I compare all other powders to. It's so good 👍
I just got the foundation stick since I can always use quick and easy products for the mornings I’m feeling rushed. Can’t wait to test it out. The Ulta face palette is my number one. Just bought another as I’ve used up the bronzer. I don’t work through products too fast since I have choices but that is something I can’t leave alone. I can banish my pallor in no time! Mad for matte is my favourite, just bought another a few months so I could the cream and light pink shades back. It’s soooo good, I’ve been using it for years. The Elf The New Classic pallet is forever my most used as well! Have you tried Hard Candy’s sheer envy colour corrector (the peach one… I must have the old packaging but just bought it) it’s so good and affordable!!

And even more the weird snobbism and plain lack of information of people that push luxury and high end who pretend every boring mediocre release is amazing and such high quality and so worth the money 🙄So many lower price brands have the same or better performance than high end or luxury. Lots of underrated brands like Violet Voss, TheBalm, PUR or Stila do have great products even if no one talks about them. Not even talking about Kbeauty which constantly has their skincare and make up formulas duped by Western brands who act like they're doing something new.
And most super hyped high end eye shadow has nothing on indie which is so much more affordable.... Consumers are missing out on a lot of brands they may love because its always the same handful of brands pushed
I blame whatever new movement the TikTok generations are following like sheep. Vegan, cruelty free, paraben free, gluten free but the products they're promoting isn't usually cheap and whoever is promoting them usually aren't disclosing that their vid is an ad. 👀

Hey Emily! Quite a few of the products you're promoting today have been members of my collection for a long time. The CoverGirl Instant Cheekbones blush kit beats my Estee Lauder singles every day. I'm on a third Rimmel bronzer, which leaves my new Too Faced Milk Chocolate looking lovely but lonely. And that Elf 10 pan eyeshadow kit has been replaced twice now, so why am I so smug about finding NARS duos, Natasha Denona Baby trios and Pat McGrath singles at TJMaxx for super discount prices that are still more expensive than the Elf that I truly love? I guess you can take me out of the drugstore, but I'm still a drugstore makeup girl at heart! BTW, I think maybe you have underrated your influence - Rimmel's Stay Matte pressed powder and Milani's eyelid primer did not become popular until YOU found them. Give yourself credit where it's due! Theory-how much of this is no longer talked about because it is considered “old” or simply part of a brand’s “standard” line? I have known about the Covergirl Instant Cheekbones since 1980 or 81 because my mom used it and I used it in HS. I am so old I remember when it had a CONTOUR shade in there and there used to be a graphic showing you where to put all the steps. InLOVE my Milani palette and still use it. Maybe this stuff is meant more for the average consumer? Not a bad thing at all I think.

The Cover Girl Instant Cheekbones blushes are IT. I wore the Peach Perfection shade back in high school (mid-90s) and it made my eyes pop like crazy. I tried the blush again last year after 20+ years and while the frost is pretty dated, the color, pigmentation, blendability and wear power are insanely good. The beauty community is sleeping on this vintage blush!!!

I purchased that NYX Epic Smoke Liner in Nude Haze because of your recommendation and I love it! I used to use those Covergirl Cheekers and then Instand Cheekbones in High School. I will definitely have to go back to those!
I have hazel eyes that lean green and I used to love the Almay eye makeup line that was designed to highlight each eye color. The plum mascara for green eyes was my go-to in high school; it was awesome!
Something I find underrated that nobody ever talks about, not technically drugstore but often drug store prices, is Sephora eyeshadow pallets! I think they are so good and have collected a bunch of them since they often go on sale for under $10! They are great quality, most options have a nice combination of shimmer/matte and light/dark and are perfect for when you are traveling. I’d love to see beauty influencers try these and share thoughts because I use mine more than any drugstore pallets.
OMG, you are SO right! I bought one of their palettes in 2019 that was recommended by Dominique Sachse. It was a large one with like 15-20 shades. Those powders stayed in place for a good 10 hours!!! Incredible pigment. And they went on so easily and smoothly. I’ve still got it and use it. I’d love to know what cosmetic company makes their palettes-or at least did back then. Really impressive.

I bought the Maybelline Fit Me powder the other day in pressed form and I was shocked how blurring it is without looking powdery or making the skin dry! I thought it would be awful because it actually is quite powdery but it’s fabulous! I use a brush to apply! I will caution I bought the translucent shade and it is very light! It works for me because I am fair but if your skin is darker try to match your shade!!!

I agree 100% with the covergirl instant cheek bones, I have the exact same shade you used and I use it every single day. That is saying a lot considering I have a huge amount of blush both high end and drug store but there is just something about the formula and the ease of application.. it goes on smooth and even every time and looks flawless.

I love the Physicians Formula diamond lip plumper, a nice minty feel, not sticky and perfect for a quick lip application. One of my favorites that I always go back to, is the Maybelline volume Express plush mascara, in the turquoise tube, gives my lashes the volume and lift I like.
The CG blush trio has been around since the late 70s, early 80s. It was my favorite blush when I was in high school. I got the pink one and there was a plum color too. I also used them for eyeshadows because I've always loved a monochromatic look. I need to go out and get me a couple.
I still have The mad for matte palette and I use it everyday for my eyes, my brows and my nose contour ! Each time I apply my shadows I can't stop thinking : what a great palette !

I’m also enjoying their impossible primer, and the essence glow serum primer (the glow recipe dupe) Also I am recently loving maybelline fit me matte and poreless liquid foundation - which I swear rivals my armani luminous silk and dior forever matte foundations. Ive used high end products exclusively for years and just started trying drug store products- so impressed! Because of your past videos, I am now a die hard fan of the instant cheek bones and the L’Oréal lumi glow palette in moonkissed. I had forgot all about the instant cheekbones and I now have them all! Also I found the L’Oréal pallet in CVS. The incognito concealer is nice too. My daughter also loves that physician’s formula gloss. These brands should be thanking you!! 😊

I totally agree about the Hard Candy primer! I don't understand why the Elf Power Grip gets all the hype, when it looked terrible on me every way I tried it, but the hard candy comes through every time. So underrated!
The charcoal shade in Mad for Matte is the ONLY color on earth I have found that makes sense in my very dark brows! I got it when it was new and kept it longer than I should have for that reason, lol.

My underrated makeup product is a brow pencil I found at the Dollar Tree. I thought it’s from the Dollar Tree so it’s probably going to suck but since it was only $1.25 I bought it anyway and I’m so glad that I did!! It’s the perfect color for my brows and it gives me those hair like strokes and it literally last all day and it doesn’t smudge. I want to go get a couple more of them. I usually use the Benefit Precisely Brow but I am constantly reaching for my new brow pencil from Dollar Tree. I think I might even like it better then the Benefit one.
We all have cut our "teeth" on drugstore make-up unless your mother has expensive taste in high end make-up.

The Rimmel bronzer is the best for equestrians and other outdoor athletes! It's not as sweatproof and waterproof as it thinks it is (there's definitely some brown transfer on the inside of my riding helmet) but there's still some on my face after hours of riding or working out (I even use it as a transition shade on my eyes for August in the Deep South)
This morning I wanted to be minimal so I used NYX wonder contour stick for both contour, highlight AND on my eyes with the darker shade as a crease and outer corner and the highlight in the center. It would be a good way to travel to avoid liquids on a plane.
I love the Milani eye primer and Cover Girl Instant Cheekbones that you recommended, so I definitely want to try a few of these not talked about products. Thank you for highlighting affordable makeup.
Cover Girl Instant Cheekbones is a wonderful blush/highlight!! I've got Sophisticated Sable, and the peach toned one...Can't wait to extend the collection, and buy your recommendation today! Agreed 💯 on the Milani all inclusive palette, I pack that one palette when I travel..so convenient! Another great underrated product are Essence Extreme Last eye pencils.. I've got all the neutral shades, they just glide on, and actually remain on my waterline! And I've got watery eyes + an oil slick for skin, and it's the only one that doesn't run down my face 😆 and they're under $5.00 at Ulta. Love you too!

Elf Mad for Matte, Yes! Love that palette. Well rounded and performs spectacularly. Can't be without my Milani eye primer. I just recently bought a fresh tube a few weeks ago. The Walmart tag said $7.98 which I didn't bat an eye at, I know, inflation. But my receipt said $3.98 when I got home. And I kind of got worried because I thought oh no it's going on clearance and is going to be discontinued I thought, my heart began racing. I sure hope it's not. Thanks for the info on the Cover Girl cheek products. I have a lot of Tarte Amazonian clay cheek blushes that I need to get through first but Cover Girl blushes are going to be my next purchase.
I loved this video, and hearing about all the poor unloved, but great products out there! I used to use Cover Girl everything in the early 80's as a teenager, lol! I have refused to use it for years, as the products in the 1990's were awful! Nice to hear they're making a good blush. I used the rose in the 80's and lived it!

The reason the packaging on the press powders from rimmel is so basic is because they are meant to be depotted and placed on makeup compacts. All of them have a tiny hole on the back to take the pans out and transfer. The reason I don’t like the milani all in one palette is because the bronzer is soooo orange/yellow that doesn’t work for me, I wish they would put the silky matte bronzer shades in them instead. I feel the maybelline eyeshadow quad in “chi latte” is really good and looks great on the eyes, same with their face sculpt pallettes.

Mad for matte is my favourite, just bought another a few months so I could the cream and light pink shades back. It’s soooo good, I’ve been using it for years. The Elf The New Classic pallet is forever my most used as well!
