Just a slight correction @13:25 you state that “plasmids are consumed and absorbed through the stomach, while vigors are injected.” It’s the other way around. Though I think Suchong began the plasmid experiments as digestible but they weren’t producing the desired effects he wanted(these experiments were the ones Fink saw glimpses of through the rifts in Columbia). So Suchong began testing ADAM intravenously known as Plasmid which were more successful. Though somehow Fink was able to get the Vigor designs he stole from Suchong’s research to work thus he didn’t have to spend all his extra time stealing Suchong’s plasmid research via Multiverse Corporate Espionage anymore. Great video though. Fink is the quintessential mid-to-late-1800’s big shot businessman of high standing in the community he lives in but is really just a lucky snake-oil salesman whose most successful products are really just someone else’s product that he added just enough cocaine or heroin into to make the product “different” and his own “secret family recipe passed down to him from his great-grandmother’s brother’s girlfriend’s Dad’s sister-mother(you read that right. And yes it’s what you’re thinking) friend’s boss’s son who just so happened to be in town at the same time Fink and offered him the recipe and wagon for whatever pocket change and lint Fink had in his chest pocket of the inner-lining of his blazer jacket.
You to mention that in the after credits, Booker is back in 1893 in his office knowing that he never went to baptism and that hopefully Anna is with him or who knows. Meaning that our Booker is still alive and back in New York
Just replayed BioShock Infinite after more than 10 years of not playing a Bioshock game and this video helped a gigantic ton to make sense of the whole plot. Thank you. awesome work!
Just wanna say, this is probably my favorite video about Bioshock on YT! It’s so pleasant to listen to and genuinely deepened my love for the game. I’ve probably listened to it 5 times through since finding it like 2 months ago lol thanks for the amazing video! ❤️
The ending to Elizabeths story made me so sad when i first played the dlc when it had first released, it hit me hard dude lol i loved her character and her journey.
If the armorer goes crazy in another world because he died in the previous world, then wouldn't Booker/Comstock, the Lutess', and Elizabeth have gone crazy as well? Bit of a plot hole or plot armor there.
Well, they do in a way, at least for Booker and Comstock. See when they start to sense somthing is off and their head gets fuzzy and nose bleeds. The reason why the Amoror gets crazy is bc he remembers his past/alternate self and KNOWS (feels) he is dead. Booker and everyone looses their memories so they don’t realize it till later. Also the luteses are dead, but live in the tears just like Elizabeth in the last part of this video
The one thing that never made sense is how the Bioshock: Infinite DLC is even possible. The Elizabeths drowned Booker at his baptism, destroying all the Bookers and Comstocks at once, but the event where Booker sells Anna to Comstock happens after his baptism. That Booker and Comstock should have both been erased from all the realities when Booker was drowned at the Baptism.
Absolutely amazing work! Just stumbled upon your channel looking for lore videos around Horizon Zero Dawn, and i have now watched 4 of your videos haha, Keep up the amazing work!
When u talked about how many times the luteces have sent booker to columbia, it reminded me about how I was flabbergasted by the theory that the explanation that every time u die and come back u r not playing as the same booker but an entirely different booker from another dimension as a replacement while the booker u played is forever dead. I mean Jesus at least the explanation in rapture is just that there are chambers that bring the players back due to their genetic code. Side note: loved all the little comments u made throughout each explanation.
Just wanted to say this was incredibly well done - And damn it, now I want to go back and play all the Bioshock games all over again! Probably my favourite series of all time. I didn't think much of Infinite when I first started playing it back on release, but as the story revealed itself, I appreciated just how well written it all is
Wow not only did you do some hellacious research for this video but you executed it perfectly, easily digestible and full of facts I had no idea about so thank you!
Between this and your lore video on Prey, injecting a bit of your own gaming personality in these lore videos makes them way more entertaining to watch. Definitely very deserving of a sub.
As someone who never had the chance to play these games, this channel and Suggestive Gaming is my go to whenever I want to learn about games. So thank you😊
37:15 "The Killing of Daisy really served a purpose..." Black women have the shortest stick in terms of representation in games. I think of the Last of Us, and Bioshock and can't think of a single black woman (or person for that matter) that doesn't get humiliated/shot needlessly/murdered as part of a developing plot point for a white counterpart. Video game narratives still have so, so, much more ground to go--and it only happens when more women and people of color are let into writing rooms and management roles.
this is probably weird to say and I know this isn't about me in any way but I just want to say I'm really glad you said this and made me really think about the larger implications of killing Daisy. I was ready to agree with the idea that her death "served a purpose" because I failed to take the time to actually think about it outside of myself and my experiences, so I really needed to be called out. because you're absolutely right like, people talk about "fridging" all the time and how shitty it is to kill off a woman for a man's character development/motivation, but there's not nearly enough discussion about how the exact same thing happens to characters of color (especially women and queer characters). if we agree it's wrong to treat [white] women as objects or plot devices or whatever then how in the fuck is it ok when we turn around and do exactly that to so many non-white characters all the goddamn time?? and I say "we" to call out my fellow white people because we are *all* guilty of this-I know I am-, whether we're creating the content or supporting it without stopping to think about who is being impacted. just because it's not happening to us doesn't mean it's not happening or that it's not a problem. and fuck, this isn't even touching on where race intersects with gender and sexuality and able-bodiedness and so much more sure, things have improved, but there is still so, so far to go and if the teams behind content remain as homogeneous as they are now then things are never gonna get better and we're gonna see these same issues over and over again. I mean, BIPOC have been pointing all this out as long as it's gone on, so pretty much forever. there's no argument: BIPOC should always be included in the "conversation" (in this specific case, the creation of video games) and the rest of us need to recognize that part of actually having that conversation means we need to shut the fuck up and listen so thank you for reminding me I need to shut the fuck up and listen
And painting both the resistances against Columbia and Rapture's overlords as intrinsically flawed/violent or led by an evil imposter is also an example of a popular media narrative
I am so torn about Infinite. It's visually stunning and offers a tantalizing world and story, but the plot holes are bothersome once the twists are revealed. I also didn't quite like the gameplay; the fights are mostly arena battles with enemies spawning á la horde mode. It's also a bit disturbing to me that most of the enemies you kill are normal people doing their job, as compared to the mad beasts of Rapture.
@@MrsRollercoastergirl right like oh no shooting at racist fanatic police who are trying to kill you... Like in the latter half of the game I felt bad killing the rebels but mostly because of the narrative hurdle they had to do by literally making the leader kill a child to make her seem worse than her actual ideology would let on
@@thesauceisme yeah that was really bad. The narrative gymnastics to paint both sides of that conflict as "having good parts and bad parts" when the founders were pelting interracial couples with baseballs for a fun, pretty sure I dont feel bad for them being brutally murdered as recourse (not children, or course).
@@thesauceisme think about it this way Booker and Elizabeth are only motivated by their own goals , for a time those motivations ally with The Vox populi, but daisy fitzroy and the vox will kill anyone that they deem to be against their goals and we can infer from the Voxphones that Fitzroy will kill them when she’s done with them
I hate to nitpick, but you got the plasmids and vigors reversed. Plasmids are the ones injected, and the vigors are the ones that are ingested. Aside from that one mistake, your video is top notch, and I adore your narration.
"The city of Columbia in VR, minus the religion, racism and propaganda." But if you took those out then would it _really_ still be the Columbia we hate to love?
34:00 I love how the Songbird has a massive hole in the roof it caused and then while holding who it needs to protect ignores that and punches a new hole in the side wall for no reason besides to look cool. That could have hurt the poor girl instead of just flying up…
This was so well narrated, I got chills when Elizabeth was being imprisoned, and the way everything was threaded together blew my mind! I only played infinite and rapture gave me nightmares. I'm so glad I could learn of the whole story without the playthrough 😂
This video was well done. One thing I never understood about late bioshock 1 and bioshock 2. Why was fontaine and Sofia Lamb trying to take over rapture? I mean, what was left? If there's one thing I didn't understand. If they take over it after 1958 or 1968 they would be rulers of rubble. I can understand Elizabeth's need to rectify old wrongs by rescuing the little sisters. That sounds good. Yeah rapture it self was highly advanced, it was also incredibly self sustaining. After planting a EMP at it's core, many parts of it are still running. However, it's left over inhabitants are supposed to by absolute psychotic Adam addicts, who probably turned and killed what ever sane population was left. Maybe it's was fontaines ego that wanted to be a ruler of nothing. I dunno.
Now that I remember. Fontaine at one point said in bioshock, that he didn’t care that rapture was a pile of crumbling garbage. He fought so hard and long for it, that he wanted it anyway.
My only wish is for the last thing Elizabeth sees before she died was Booker. Whilst Booker is her father and the reason for her torment, they both have been through so much together and their friendship is something I really love about Bioshock Infinite. It would be a great closure for her character to embrace Booker as enemy, friend, and father. I cried so much at the end of the games. Urghhh the feels.
As just about everybody seems to be saying in the comments, amazing video. Seriously well done pulling the stories together and making them streamlined, understandable, and compelling
I remember the ending of the Burial at Sea episode 1 disgusted me so much, I skipped the second part. The problem with Elizabeth is not that she shouldn't walk away from the little girl broiling alive; she shouldn't devise a plan that includes broiling alive little girls in the first place. And for what she included that in her plan? To deliver some psychological torture to the broken old man in his final seconds? To make revenge more revengeous? Ew. She is not better than her father not even for an inch, why did I even save her in the base game
Constants and variables. Each Booker was slightly different from each other in their morality, same can be said of the Elizabeths. Also that Booker was in actuality a Comstock that simply forgot what he did. Does forgetting what he did absolve him of his crime? It seems that even in the end, Elizabeth held Booker in high regard. That man was not Booker. It was Comstock.
You know it didn't occur to me but if we really wanted to fix the timeline without killing Booker couldn't we just have killed the in the past? I mean I know they exist in a Quantum state now but if they never invented the things they did a potential collapse of Space and Time would never have become a danger. If my understanding of what removing Booker did to the timeline are correct, you could remove the twins from the timeline without killing them due to their quantum state and without destroying all those alternate timelines. The only change would be Anna wouldn't ever become Elizabeth which means while Columbia could still end up existing in some form Comstock wouldn't ever be able to raise it to the status he did and never would become as popular as he did. I think if this did succeed this would just end up creating a reality that was about 90% identical to ours as none of the Rapture crap would happen as quickly as it did.
This was awsome! I've never played a Bioshock game but was enthralled by this fantastic storytelling and narrative. It's a shame I couldn't follow the names thus failing to understand something bellow 30% of this. Still watched this till the end and loved!

like, people talk about "fridging" all the time and how shitty it is to kill off a woman for a man's character development/motivation, but there's not nearly enough discussion about how the exact same thing happens to characters of color (especially women and queer characters). if we agree it's wrong to treat [white] women as objects or plot devices or whatever then how in the fuck is it ok when we turn around and do exactly that to so many non-white characters all the goddamn time?? and I say "we" to call out my fellow white people because we are *all* guilty of this-I know I am-, whether we're creating the content or supporting it without stopping to think about who is being impacted. just because it's not happening to us doesn't mean it's not happening or that it's not a problem. and fuck, this isn't even touching on where race intersects with gender and sexuality and able-bodiedness and so much more
sure, things have improved, but there is still so, so far to go and if the teams behind content remain as homogeneous as they are now then things are never gonna get better and we're gonna see these same issues over and over again. I mean, BIPOC have been pointing all this out as long as it's gone on, so pretty much forever. there's no argument: BIPOC should always be included in the "conversation" (in this specific case, the creation of video games) and the rest of us need to recognize that part of actually having that conversation means we need to shut the fuck up and listen
so thank you for reminding me I need to shut the fuck up and listen
All of this.
And painting both the resistances against Columbia and Rapture's overlords as intrinsically flawed/violent or led by an evil imposter is also an example of a popular media narrative
@ingenuity2217 you thinking theyre good people is also an example of popular narrative 🤣
I am so torn about Infinite. It's visually stunning and offers a tantalizing world and story, but the plot holes are bothersome once the twists are revealed. I also didn't quite like the gameplay; the fights are mostly arena battles with enemies spawning á la horde mode. It's also a bit disturbing to me that most of the enemies you kill are normal people doing their job, as compared to the mad beasts of Rapture.
most of the people you kill in the first half are literally white supremacist
@@thesauceisme hahaha yes i was about to reply with the same
@@MrsRollercoastergirl right like oh no shooting at racist fanatic police who are trying to kill you...
@@thesauceisme think about it this way Booker and Elizabeth are only motivated by their own goals , for a time those motivations ally with The Vox populi, but daisy fitzroy and the vox will kill anyone that they deem to be against their goals and we can infer from the Voxphones that Fitzroy will kill them when she’s done with them
I played these games to death and know the story inside out and still found this a great watch. Very well done.
I've been pouring through your videos, and absolutely love the humor and info throughout. Thank you so much! ✌️
I hate to nitpick, but you got the plasmids and vigors reversed. Plasmids are the ones injected, and the vigors are the ones that are ingested. Aside from that one mistake, your video is top notch, and I adore your narration.
"The city of Columbia in VR, minus the religion, racism and propaganda."
But if you took those out then would it _really_ still be the Columbia we hate to love?

I love how the Songbird has a massive hole in the roof it caused and then while holding who it needs to protect ignores that and punches a new hole in the side wall for no reason besides to look cool.
A comprehensive and cogent synopsis of the winding BioShock saga. Well done!
Wow. This is some great work. Needs more recognition/views
I love that I found your channel, I’ve been loving it as of late!!!
Honestly? While playing these games a long time ago, I didn't understand a lot of this! This video right here changed that, finally! Great work!

Thanks for helping me make more sense of this series! I love your dictation.
Wow this is really good stuff. Great work.
32:10 "this is not the actual lady comstalk"
Shoots it anyway, just to be sure
I forgot most of this, I enjoyed listening while I was working. Aside from a hiccup or 2 its pretty solid.
Seriously well done pulling the stories together and making them streamlined, understandable, and compelling
one of the best lore videos for this classic game series can't wait for next game
This is awesome, you’re awesome! Thank you for this great content!
wow. I enjoyed so much watching this video.
The ending of all 3 games is amazing
Thanks I really appreciate this I fully understand bio shock no matter how many times I play it i learn something new
I love you, sis!! You make everything so cool!! Also? Understandable. Bioshock confused me to no end. Lol.
"You see where this is going?" Me, who's never played a Bioshock game and thought this would be covering both of them: I do not :(
You know it didn't occur to me but if we really wanted to fix the timeline without killing Booker couldn't we just have killed the in the past?
Thanks for reminding me of Booker's background, I was accidentally starting to like him.
This was awsome! I've never played a Bioshock game but was enthralled by this fantastic storytelling and narrative. It's a shame I couldn't follow the names thus failing to understand something bellow 30% of this. Still watched this till the end and loved!
Love these video essays, thank you.
