She would *HATE* the Beldam too much to help her in any way.
I always thought that Wybie's grandma decided to finally allow a child to live at the Pink Palace when she noticed that Wybie was getting to be the right age/level of curiosity to become a target himself, and she was hoping to offer the Other Mother another child as a sacrifice to protect him.
My theory is: Wybie’s grandmother and great aunt when through the door together because twins are always together especially when there young. They only needed one doll because they look the same and were always together and Wybie’s grandmother was the only one that made it out alive. That’s why Wybie knows about the bottom of the well and how he says if you reach the bottom and look up you can see 1000 stars, his grandmother maybe saw all the stars. Because I think the well is another portal to the other world,like the door.

While Wybie doesn't make a physical appearance in the book, a character with the same surname is mentioned by Miss Spink in chapter 13: "Mr. Lovat who was here before your time, said that he thought it [the old well] might go down for half a mile or more". So at the end when the family and friends are having lemonade in the ground you can see the belldams face in the garden at the closing shot of the film meaning coraline never actually escaped and she is still trapped. Another theory is that the last scene where the cat is going through the portal. The portal is only open if the belldam is alive meaning she is still out there

I SWEAR I remember Coraline getting along with Wybie in the beginning! I have this really vivid memory of them getting along until wybie makes a joke abt coralline’s parents not loving her. At first, I thought that if the Beldam makes a dool of someone, she can control and see them. So, I thought when Coraline threw the doll in the fire, she burnt her parents. I kind of find this funny. As a kid I used to watch this movie at my grandma’s house all the time, I never really knew the story about it and how creepy it really was.
The only thing that has been bothering me, is if the other mother's control is only around the pink palace. How was she able to get the doll back? As where the grandma and Wybie lives is further away. Her power shouldn't be able to reach that far unless she used up a good amount in order to do so. Also the fact that she knew what Coraline looked like, throws it off as well. Considering the doll was more than likely locked up in a old chest in an attic. So the chances of it seeing any picture of Coraline was impossible.
Theory the Beldam can see through any of her creations with button eyes which is why other Wybie wears a mask when he goes to rescue her and when Coraline takes off his mask he immediately covers his eyes. But since he saw Coraline for a split second so did the Beldam which is why she immediately starts coming down the stairs at that moment.
Still can’t fully get behind this movie. I LOVE the book so much. So it’s really hard for me to accept this as a movie adaptation that can hold a candle to the book. Movie Coraline doesn’t seem like the same girl from the book. The one takeaway I had from the movie was the use of 3D when the door between the worlds opened and the tunnel extended. That’s the only time 3D in a movie actually made me say “Wow.”

As where the grandma and Wybie lives is further away. Her power shouldn't be able to reach that far unless she used up a good amount in order to do so. Also the fact that she knew what Coraline looked like, throws it off as well. Considering the doll was more than likely locked up in a old chest in an attic. So the chances of it seeing any picture of Coraline was impossible.
Theory the Beldam can see through any of her creations with button eyes which is why other Wybie wears a mask when he goes to rescue her and when Coraline takes off his mask he immediately covers his eyes. But since he saw Coraline for a split second so did the Beldam which is why she immediately starts coming down the stairs at that moment.
Still can’t fully get behind this movie. I LOVE the book so much. So it’s really hard for me to accept this as a movie adaptation that can hold a candle to the book. Movie Coraline doesn’t seem like the same girl from the book. The one takeaway I had from the movie was the use of 3D when the door between the worlds opened and the tunnel extended. That’s the only time 3D in a movie actually made me say “Wow.”

I remember being in 7th grade adoring the Coraline movie so much that I stole the book out of my school’s library and I was so pissed after reading the book and finding out Wybie was an only movie character. I shipped him and coraline so hard. 🥺

I just a thought of why the other Wybie specifically couldn't go to Coraline's world, What I thought was The other Wybie doesn't have the specific fabric skin like the dolls do... Why I think that? Because I think the other mother didn't want the Other Wybie to go to Coraline's world like the dolls can.. because of course he willing to help her and the other mother doesn't want that. So I believe she some how put the sand inside the clothes and thats how he was made.. but its a little weird how the clothes stays unless he or the other mother take the clothes off the sand and blows the sand.. also so its easy to rid of him if he done anything "bad". But! What about his head? I think its a rubber head mask.. not a fabric skin like the dolls have.
