Nicholas Hamilton is one of the best child actors I've ever seen. His intense and unhinged portrayal of Henry Bowers is almost as terrifying as Pennywise himself.
@Magnus Tjønn Same, I think the reason is because Pennywise is just a movie monster in the end of the day. But Patrick is a lot like real life Serial Killers like Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer. It's that element of realism that makes Patrick so much scarier than Pennywise in my in my opinion.
In the original book Patrick gets attacked by a swarm of flying leeches. And the book describes how one of his eyes gets deflated by them. Patrick's death was horrifying

Henry was abused by his dad and had hitherto connected love with bullying others (his first memory of affection from his dad was when his dad rewarded him with beer for killing Mike's dog). When It gets into his mind, he sees murder as the natural next step in attaining an even higher love (he had believed that It would take care of and protect him after killing the Losers; he dreamed of going home and drinking his Dad's beer while listening to rock and roll, and that everything would be "okey dokey" after he finished the Losers off) But he was also afraid of It as well. Fear, abuse, and love as a cycle is what made Henry a bully, and then a would-be murderer. That was what made Henry such an interesting and sympathetic villain. Deep down, every hateful thing he ever did was just driven by his need to feel loved in some way, even if he didn't fully realize it. which may also explain why Henry let Patrick touch him; he was just happy to be shown some tenderness from someone else, and couldn't help but be "stunned" or mesmerized by it at first. But then Henry suddenly realized he wasn't supposed to like "queer stuff", and he hit Patrick before it went further. That's also why he tried to sexually assault Bev. It doesn't make him likable, but definitely sympathetic.
He's one of those villains that I love to hate and hate to love. His Daddy issues are the root of the problem (which I can sympathize heavily with because of my Daddy issues) and he probably could've been a good/better person had he not been so misguided.

It's funny that Steven King wrote a character named Koontz, and the character is attacked by a dog. Dean Koontz is a horror contemporary of King, and almost all of his books feature dogs in them.
The actor who plays Henry Bowers in 1990 was actually bullied in high school and he was even able to stand up to his own bully which is interesting because that probably how he was able to channel his own character.
Had to deal with bullies for most of my school life and I thought they are mental but compared to Henry they are more like mischiefous pranksters than anything else.

The backstory to the Bowers gang wasn't included in the miniseries, so Henry's eventual madness goes unexplained and the reason behind his hatred for Mike Hanlon and the Losers gang is lost. Also in King's book, the racism of Henry's father ties back into the evil fabric of the town. Good to see that most if this has been restored in the new movies.
In mini-series they show Henry's white going completely white in scene where he sees Pennywise's true form in sewers. I think they never made Henry racist in mini-series was because it was made for TV so it would never pass censors, while remake was made specifically for theatrical release, so they could get away with lot more, such as having actual gore. I mean, movie was quite violent and gory at times, especially around climax.

Good video, but one correction. There was in fact evidence that implicated Henry in the deaths that summer. He had personal items from both Belch and Vic that he just borrowed but they used it against him. The damning evidence was one of ITs female victims' panties tucked into the slit of his mattress. IT planted it there so Henry would take the fall for all the murders and he did. This is spelled out in the novel and I just thought I'd let you know since you always do such a good job

The only thing I don’t understand from all of the IT movies and novel is: Why would Pennywise control Henry into killing the Losers? I mean, he doesn’t benefit unless he is directly killing them, so why would he have someone else kill them? Was he afraid the Losers were going to defeat him or was it another way to scare the Losers before he eats them?
Pennywise couldn’t really go after The Losers because they weren’t afraid anymore. Henry could go after them no matter if they were afraid or not. Pennywise only has power over them through their fear.
Because It / Pennywise was starting to become afraid of The Losers because they were standing up to him and weren't scared of him anymore. So he basically brainwashed Henry into trying to kill them.

I thought in the book adult Bev told the losers about a day when the Bowers gang caressed her cheek and played with her hair against her will near where she lived. An old man saw it, but did nothing. Her dad came home from work and she tells the boys that that's the only time she was happy to see her dad. She was happy because her dad coming home made the bowers gang run away.

It’s both. Patrick is just okay with it and Henry can’t admit to it yet. Patrick gives Henry a handy, which Henry is into, and offers to blow him and that’s what sets Henry off, exclaiming that he’s not gay.

Good video, but one correction. There was in fact evidence that implicated Henry in the deaths that summer. He had personal items from both Belch and Vic that he just borrowed but they used it against him. The damning evidence was one of ITs female victims' panties tucked into the slit of his mattress. IT planted it there so Henry would take the fall for all the murders and he did. This is spelled out in the novel and I just thought I'd let you know since you always do such a good job
I always had a soft spot for Henry. He was a 100% tragic character and showed how a f-cked up upbringing can scar you for life

The only thing I don’t understand from all of the IT movies and novel is:
Why would Pennywise control Henry into killing the Losers?
I mean, he doesn’t benefit unless he is directly killing them, so why would he have someone else kill them?
Was he afraid the Losers were going to defeat him or was it another way to scare the Losers before he eats them?
They were in the way.
I would say it’s a mix of both.
The Losers were in the way. With them gone, It could continue eating kids and literally no one else would stop him.
Pennywise couldn’t really go after The Losers because they weren’t afraid anymore. Henry could go after them no matter if they were afraid or not. Pennywise only has power over them through their fear.
Because It / Pennywise was starting to become afraid of The Losers because they were standing up to him and weren't scared of him anymore. So he basically brainwashed Henry into trying to kill them.
I'd give it to Henry though, he gave Bill a break when his brother died.

I honestly feel for Bowers. He was put through a lot growing up because of his father. I know it’s not an excuse for his actions, absolutely not but it’s sad to think about if Henry just had a better father and family, he wouldn’t have turned out so bad.

I admire and appreciate the time and effort you put into these! I've read the book and watched both films. It's not easy keeping track with all of the info even after highlighting quotes and putting book marks in certain places. Yes, the films sum things up but they don't give you everything the book does like you do. Thank you!!! Can't wait to see more!

I thought in the book adult Bev told the losers about a day when the Bowers gang caressed her cheek and played with her hair against her will near where she lived. An old man saw it, but did nothing. Her dad came home from work and she tells the boys that that's the only time she was happy to see her dad. She was happy because her dad coming home made the bowers gang run away.
