Ok, so this is the very last time I will address this. I did not know before doing this reaction that Bambi Thug identifies as they/them. I only knew Bambi Thug is Irish, a singer and gothy/witchy. I respect people’s preferred pronouns and do my best. I am not psychic so how could I know?
I do not do research before my videos to ensure I have no biases or preconceptions. I go in blind.
In fairness to me, I just went off how they present in this video with their costume.
What I really don’t appreciate is the bullying manner in which people are berating me for this mistake. After the first person told me about Bambi Thug’s pronouns preference I henceforth referred to Bambi Thug as they/them and yet people continued to point it out and some weren’t polite about it. The insinuation that I did it on purpose is so insulting.
So, as I always ask, please be kind in the comments.
Oh and please stop with the satanism stuff, if this was a video about Ticketmaster I’d understand you commenting about the devil, but this is an amazing and empowering song from an artist that preaches love, so quit it!

You shouldn't change your vocabulary because someone calls themselves by different gender or undefined one. This is the downfall of our society. Why should you change your beliefs just because someone else need psychiatric help. You're just helping them in their delusion.
everyone who does that has so much hate in their hearts, you'll see them doing the same thing to other creators who made reactions to bambie. you didn't do anything wrong & your reaction was great 🤍
@@juhraa_ 🥲🥹
Don’t worry about it!! People who actually identify as non binary, from my experience, don’t get offended and start yelling curses at being misgendered initially. Many people actually expect that (misgendering) to happen! Adapting new gender perspectives is absolutely not abnormal, but is definitely not something people are used to openly talking about and practicing. Mistakes are bound to happen. What would’ve been wrong is you continuing to misuse pronouns after you found out. But that is not the case, and as someone who isn’t non binary but belongs to the LGBT+ community, I thank you for your kindness. People can be so extreme in their woke-ness that they can’t see past their own shortcomings, such as spewing hatred on the internet while “defending” someone else. That is bullying and is wrong. You handled this well and I hope you understand that LGBT people who genuinely have suffered relentless hatred from conservative parties appreciate you and your compassion and understanding. Now I wanna get back to the reaction and gushing over how BOMB this song was 😌
I hope you have a good day and don’t see the LGBT community as a bunch of rotten eggs. That’s just a minority.
@@madhatter7328 Thank you! I’d never do it on purpose. I believe firmly in treating others with kindness and respect. 🙏

The directors/cameramen were MVP here
👍 agree
Agreed but Bambie's input isn't insignificant. The camerawork is astonishing.
Bambie and their dancer and choreographer, Matt Williams, worked closely with the staging director, Sergio Jaen to create the performance. Sergio has worked mainly on short films and music videos, and it shows with the excellent tableaus, camera cuts and angles
Goosebumps everytime i watch it. A history-making performance

Agreed, never experinced that with another performance.
I've never seen a Eurovision performance with so many ideas in it. Some one needs to do a video on all the references.

I heard netenyahu had a dream that God visited him and told him " stop this madness. Stop this genocide. Stop killing now."
Netenyahu looked at God and said "You're an anti-Semite".
I can't believe how this performance was not at top 3, the choreography was full of surprise beginning to the end.
👍👍
dull pop ballads (e.g. France) always do well with the juries and televote + Israeli manipulated the televote (buying politicians to promote voting for Israel). Meanwhile, Ukraine and Croatia had been firm favourites since the beginning and delivered incredible performances. Ireland, Ukraine and Switzerland all deserved standing ovations for their performances/staging and should have been the top 4 with Croatia.
@@Beckford4000France was great too.
@@tonyttt31 ... the performance was horribly pretentious (similar to Austria and Greece). The song was quite good, however.
Bambie is spectacular, and listen to that crowd reaction..
Very true!
Consider that Ireland was not a favourite to do well and was ranked pretty low by most of the Eurovision UA-camrs and pretty much everyone else, beside a few people (I backed Bambie since they won the Irish selection). But.... that performance was so commanding, electrifying, bewitching, that Bambie forced even their biggest detractors to sit up and take notice. A massive round of applause Bambie. Now add in a horrifying detail, Bambie was massively bullied by the Israeli delegation throughout Eurovision week, to the point where the Irish delegation lodged a serious complaint to the EBU and a massive investigation is currently ongoing. The Dutch, performer was also bullied by the Israeli delegation. Furthermore, Ireland, the UK, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal and Norway almost withdrew from the contest 25 minutes before the final began due to the way the Israeli delegation had systematically threatened and harassed those delegations. Furthermore, the delegations from France, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Lithuania also lodged complaints with the EBU because of the Israeli behaviour. It was a toxic shitshow.
your face during all the Bambie Thug performance was priceless!!! Thats not my kind of music, but when I saw the performance in the first semi-final, I automatically became a fan!! one of the best perfomance in the entire history of Eurovision
It’s a really stark contrast to all the others. ❤️
Many performances this year were very proffesionals, the visuals on the screens were extrordinary, like you watch a videoclip, not a live performance. Kudos to the cameramen-technicians etc too!
💯💯💯
Bambie was training to be a ballerina when young but after an injury had to stop that and transferred to studying theatrical performance then went on to become a singer/songwriter. Bambie also cowrote this song, also had a professional 'scream coach' for the song performance, and the video producer for the staging is from Spain and also produced the music video which you she see as well as Bambie's cover of 'Zombie'
Their scream was awesome!

@catrionacolville2192 that's what she said
I want to say as a pagan that I felt very proud to see a performance about paganism in Eurovision. Even though they call her a satanic and don't understand how paganism works, she went with the banner of I'm a witch and I'm proud of it. It's been centuries since one of our sisters was able to do it. Our winner without a doubt.
🧙♀️ love it! Everything is santanism these days 👀
It might make me sound mean but I got a slight bit of satisfaction from seeing the ultra-religious panic and rage about this entry on TV calling it satan worship. 😅 They can feel uncomfortable for once and we can enjoy
For someone who doesn't know anything about paganism but would be interested in learning more about it, where would you suggest I start researching from? Books, websites etc

That was easily the best performance in Eurovision ever
I voted for Ireland! I loved them.

Hey from Belgium (well, Thailand right now). I was at Eurovision this year, and also at the Irish national selection where Bambie was selected by the Irish public and jury. At the beginning, outside Ireland nobody really thought this had much of a chance - people often talked about it potentially not qualifying for the final (which, to be fair, is often the case for Ireland - Bambie was our second qualifier from the semis to the final in 10 yeaars). But that night in Dublin you could tell there was something special in the air - the whole afterparty bar erupted when Bambie won. They were seen as a break form the past, of our stale entries that hadn't moved on from the 1990s. They challenged societal norms from the beginning - in the Irish national final Bambie emphasised how important their non-binary identity was to them. At the pub after they performed this song, Tsunami and Egregore (all great tracks, but highly recommend Tsunami for you).
At Eurovision I was lucky enough to go as press, and as soon as the first pictures and clips of this came out it generated such hype. No longer was it a discussion about qualification, but about whether Ireland could win the semi (They didn't - came third behind Croatia (Baby Lasagne 1st) and Ukraine (Jerry Heil & Alyona Alyona 2nd). In the final, the songs above Ireland were: 1. Switzerland - Nemo (the Code) - Also a non-binary act but more accessible to the general public in terms of musical style -combines pop, rap, opera with althelticism on stage - a bundle of energy and a deserving winner. Won the Jury vote. All season I was flipping between Nemo and Bambie as my favs, and the two of them are very close as wel. 2. Croatia (Baby Lasagna - Rim Tim Tagi Dim) - More of a stadium anthem, fan favourite, won the Televote . 3. Ukraine - 3rd in Televote and 5th in Jury - haunting, but a beautiful song, with rap elements - I imagine not your style of song. 4. France - 2nd in Jury and 4th in Televote (1 point ahead of Switz in televote). Male ballad - very French. Not my song at all, but the artist himself is amazing - kindhearted and a magnificent vocalist. 5. Israel (2nd in televote for obviousr reasons, 12th in Jury) - nothing special about the song. And then came 6. Ireland - Televote and Jury scores very cloe to each other at around 140 each. Italy were 7th with a feel-good summer anthem.
Other songs you may be interested in - Ethno-rock from Norway (came last in the final - totally undeserved), Ethno-rap mix from Estonia (again, the result wasn;t very fair for them - 20th (out of 25 in the final). You may enjoy the aesthetics of Slovenia - Raiven singing Veronika. That came 23rd.
Of the non-qualifiers, you've got 2000s British indie with the Czech republic - Aiko, and punk by Spanish band Megara (they represented San Marino....yes Eurovision is complicated and confusing :D ).
There was quite a bit of musical diversity this year from many genres, and a lot of risquee productions (basically gay porn - UK, Spanish male dancers in corset/thong things, and a naked man emerging from a denim egg and running around ass-cheeks out saying random things into his mic while another guy sang a 90s stlye song - Finland - Windows 95 Man.
It's great entertainment all in all.
From previous years I'd recommend Hatari (2019 - Iceland) and Blind Channel (2021 - Finland) ro have a gander at.
Thanks again for the Bambie reaction - they had a tough final week of Eurovision after being targetted by the EBU that organises Eurovision and the Israeli delegation (they verbally harassed a large number of contestants, including those of Greece, Portugal, Switzerland through the week, and there was very little support for those artists getting directlty targettted by the Israeli broadcaster and some sections of the Israeli media - not all by any means, but enough that those 4 in particular were getting threats from Israelis online due to the coverage. They also targetted the Dutch participant, who was ultimately disqualified for a verbal altercation backstage with a photographer (we don't know the full details, just that the photographer was worknig with the organiser and not the Israeli delegation, but the delegation had been taking photos and videos of the artists without their consent and putting nasty stories online about those artists. Unacceptable behaviour from any broadcaster, yet we haven't seen any consequences as yet - watch this space but don't hold your breath.
Sp uea....lots of drama, tension and lack of support for artists backstage during Eurovision week.
Nevertheless, still worth watching some of the performances mentioned above :)
Oh wow I didn’t know they had such a rough time of it, I tend to not get into the drama or politics of Eurovision, ever since “my lovely horse” didn’t win I’ve known it’s rigged 🤣🤣🤣 for anyone reading this who doesn’t know Father Ted keep clam it’s a joke, google “My Lovely horse” 🐎
Amazing summary. So happy to see others also supporting Bambie and Nemo, they get so much hate simply because are not comforming to standard gender norms. I absolutely loved both entries way before learning they were non binary (which I am not myself) and I genuinely believe they were two of the best Eurovision entries of all time, so quirky and different and artistic, both of them, and both performances absolutely stunning, both in terms of vocal and show. I've been watching Eurovision for many years and I honestly think the contest nowadays has just gotten too popular for its own good. It used to be a safe haven for LGBTQ people, a place where they can shine as themselves with no one judging. Now I feel like there is too much hatred, people are too competitive and take it too personally when their favorite entry doesn't win. It's really sad and I hope they will do something to correct this in the following years because it's really not OK.
As you know, the sponsors of the competition are Israel, I think they reduced the jury's votes to prevent Ireland.
@@themetalmuse ❤️ One of my favourite episodes of Father Ted ever. That and The Hairy Baby episode. Comedy Gold 😂
Neil Hannon from an excellent band at the time called The Devine Comedy, wrote My Lovely Horse especially for that episode. Which makes it even funnier 🤣 He still sings it at gigs for the laugh. Bambie was one of my favs this year. They performed so very well and I love watching that on repeat. The staging and „acting“ was so good. I loved it

Also, the winning entry (The Code by Nemo for Switzerland) is definitely listen worthy :)

The one you watched was their final peformance. I think Bambie’s semifinal performance was even more intense and ”give-it-all”, very unforgettable! My all time fav Esc performance!

I saw various videos by another person reacting and they reacted only to semi final videos. I noticed that those videos seem to be less "polished" soundwise, which personally I prefer. It made me feel "closer" to the artists, if that makes sense.
6th in Eurovision is acc good our best result in 24 years
I remember when you guys kept winning so much you entered with My Lovely Horse and got robbed.
i’m so proud to be Irish right now

Why? Because of this creepy ghoul?
I'm with you - So so so damn proud!! This is Ireland getting with the times. Amazing effort from Bambie's whole team, and also the RTE team, especially Michael Kealy (HoD) who gave Bambie and their team so much creative and expressive freedom, as well as huge support when the negative stuff was going on in the background, despite such a limited budget. Love love love!!
One of the best all round Eurovision performances of all time. It will be remembered for years to come - it was the talk of Malmo during Eurovision week - I was with Greeks, Norwegians, Germans, Bulgarians, Brits, Dutch, Armenians, Spanish, Latvians and more, and every single one, including those who didn't even like the song at all, wanted Ireland to win after seeing the first rehearsal and the first semi final - both in the arena and watching on screen.
More of this please Ireland - love how many references to our pagan roots there are in the song and the symbolism.
We want our 8th win and this is a huge step in the right direction :) 💚🤍🧡

G'day, Dom. Just curious to know if you've sussed out Australia's Eurovision song from a few years back... by a synthpop/progressive-metal band named Voyager?
Voyager's frontman, Danny Estrin, had loved Bambie Thug's performance that much of the night of Eurovision's final (giving the track a full-on twelve points), but it unfortunately didn't get there - although Doomsday Blue did well in Australia's soul - mine, in particular.
Anyway, Voyager had composed a classic upbeat/borderline metal piece for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023, named 'Promise'. The band finished up strongly in ninth position.

One of my best friends said to me, before the first semi final started, that he figured the Irish entry would be on my list of faves, and boy howdy was he right. Not knowing at all what to expect, from literally the opening notes of the instrumental, I was going “👀😀 okayyyy…” and then the lyrics kicked in and those visuals, and I was on pins and needles freaking out like “HOLY SHIT, THIS IS AMAZING”. Their vocals were admittedly not the best vocal performance of this year, but considering the choreo, that’s understandable, and also, I think the somewhat shaky vocals in the chorus and bridge worked super well for the lyrical content. I just… GAH, I love Bambie Thug’s entry so much, it never gets old, and you should definitely check out their other music if you haven’t already, it’s so good 😁
Im seeing them live this year 🤘
Ty for watching this me irish so i am so proud that u like that music video❤
Oh honey, I didn’t like this video. I loved it.
I loved it... but there were lots of people protesting against it , specifically, religious people found it offensive, it seems they don't get it, it is just fictional lore and fun, not to be taken seriously ...
I don't get it either. We watch far worse things in movies and tv shows, not to mention ACTUAL horrors happening in the world by ACTUAL humans. People really need to burst the bubble they are livining in.
Really?
So weird this upset people?
The extreme religious people, or even non-extreme but have strong faith in their own specific, most likely organised ,religion to the extent that any other religion or belief system seems false or illegitimate to them, were against for, in my view, misguided reasons.
The song, particularly the symbols, visual aspects etc, are rooted in Celtic paganism, which in a lot of respects has similarities to Christianity, and indeed in order for Celts to be converted to Christianity a number of symbols had to be carried over from paganism to increase acceptance of Christianity in the first place. Many of the symbols in Ireland that we have for jewellery, even gravestinesm crosses etc are originally pagan symbols. It's not even anti-Christian, it just pre-dates Christianity and does not believe in the same Christian figures on an island where belief systems were rooted in nature and the natural world.
People who believe it's satanism and consider it negatively because of this:
1. Don't understand the song, the symbols in the visuals, the aesthetics and the meaning of the lyrics
2. Don't understand that paganism is part of many different cultures pre-dating organised religion, specifically Christianity in this case, and is displayed in many different ways or under different names, Christians will often use the term 'pagan' or 'satanist' interchangeably to demonise the 'other' or an 'adversary' because they can't relate or understand that person's belief (or sometimes non-belief) system, and
3. Don't seem to understand that pre-christianity belief systems of all different kinds and types have fed into a lot of Christian beliefs, e.g. celebrating those who have died at certain times of the year, often falling into the period when the earth itself seems to be dying (e.g. autumn, leaves falling off trees, darkness arriving earlier etc). The three leafed clover (shamrock), which they take as three pillars of Christianity, when in fact they were representative to Celtic pagans as protection, luck and love, or faith, hope and love depending on the intepretation.
In general, if we look at religions across the world, many of them have roots in ancient belief systems of ancestors which they used to understand the world around them when there were seemingly no explanations for phenomena that occurred in different parts of the globe.
Bambie has just announced a tour. Check it out.
🙌👍
Bambie uses they/them by the way and the song tells the story of their gender identity and queerness journey, hence the trans flag costume reveal!
Didn’t even clock it was the trans flag. Thanks for pointing that out. 👍
Isn't the song about how she was sexually abused? And the guy embodies both the person who did it, and her trauma she is exorcising?
The Nemo song was about being non-binary right? But they were also misgendered by everyone.
@@Prometheus4096 🤷🏻♀️
@@Prometheus4096 it can have multiple meanings, but from what I gathered , the “demon” is the embodiment of the hate and the struggles they went through as a non binary /queer person. Bambie then kills the demon, to go on and live their true life. And Bambie has said the song itself is about them as a queer person being under estimated and their potential being ignored. the “you’d rather have a star than the moon” is the constant comparison us queer people make to our heteronormative society. And the “I know you’re living a lie” is calling themselves out when they were once closeted and afraid.
Just like you misgendered Bambi?@@Prometheus4096
Out of all ESC 2024 songs, you can also check Slovenian's entry - "Veronika" by Raiven. It is a song about a Slovenian woman who was (falsely) accused of witchcraft in the Middle Ages. Also Czech entry had a lot of 80s goth-rock vibes.
At the quick run through of all the songs at the live show, Ireland delegation chose the bit with the diabolical scream at the end. Loved that. 😂
This song was so scary and awesome at the same time

Getting into the top ten in Eurovision is like really good placement, and this year was a really strong.
Other rock/metal entries that did really well in Eurovision in the past I would love to see you check out:
Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah (2006 Winner)
Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra (2019 10th place)
Måneskin - Zitti E Buoni (2021 Winner)

As a Eurovision fan that enjoys multiple genres I'm really happy to see increasing variety in genres there are a lot of songs outside the pop mould that do really well.
They.
Something sort of like this you potentially could like is Justyna from Poland’s National Final this year.
You should also listen to Tsunami (11:11) and Egregore by Bambie!! They are both equally good if not better than Doomsday Blue.
I will ❤️
ah, bambie thug has just announced 2024 tour dates!!
6th out of 37 songs is good enough for me.
Metal is my favourite genre, but I love Eurovision too. I wanted Gothminister to win the Norwegian national final even though We Come Alive isn't one of their best songs. The winner of the Norwegian final was a folk metal group who really deserved to win. They're called Gåte & their song was Ulveham. Bambie Thug was my winner this year however.
The winner was Nemo from Switzerland who reminds me of Klaus Nomi, if you know who he was.

Baby Lasagna came second, & both he & Nemo had great songs.

Baby Lasagna's song is more rock than metal. Last year, Lord of the Lost represented Germany with the title track from the album Blood & Glitter. If you're into metal & goth, then you'll no doubt have heard of them. It's not their best track, but anything from them is gratefully accepted. lol

I recommend you listen to Iceland's entry in 2019, a group called Hatari who sang Hatrið mun sigra (hate will prevail), my favourite Eurovision entry ever. I'd love to hear what you think about it.

I love we come alive 🥲 I reacted to it.
Ulveham was definitely leagues better than We Come Alive, but sadly neither song would be appreciated at Eurovision. Gates robbery was on another level :(
@@neontricity As a song, I much prefer We Come Alive.l as Goth metal is more my cup of tea. As a Eurovision performance, I prefer Ulveham. I doubt I'll listen to it again, however I won't skip it if it cones on, whereas We Come Alive is a regular, along with GM's back catalogue.
I thought u were from Ireland then u realised your from beautiful Scotland ❤️
❤❤❤
Hi ! Bambie Thug did a wonderful performance! They are *chef's kiss*.
Also, you should react to Lordi "Hard Rock Hallelujah", they won Eurovision with a Hard Rock song !!
Just found you because I'm a massive fan of Ireland's entry this year.. I backed Bambie right from the beginning and so glad they came through with a stage show like nothing ever seen in Eurovision before (you should also check Hatari "Hatrið mun sigra" which represented Iceland in 2019. It has similarities to Bambie). I'm a long time Eurovision fan, I love a nice bit of pop, but give me metal too and I'm so glad to see the likes of Bambie Thug, Hatari, Blind Channel, Maneskin and other rock/metal artists making it to Eurovision and doing well. Side notes, Matt Williams (the demon) choreographed that performance (he's gay btw) and Bambie is non-binary and the "reveal" showed the bikini in the colours of the Trans flag.
👍👍👍🫶
It’s outstanding. They were a massive fan favorite. It’s heartbreaking though they had a really hard time there because the israeli delegation was bullying them. They literally wished them to die, it was awful
I didn’t know that. I am not on top of anything Eurovision TBH.
Hey Dom, hope you're well.
Just a quick FYI in case you didn't know,
Nightwish released the first single off their new album "Yesterwynde", pronounced yesterwind, to be released September 20th.
The song is called "Perfume of the Timeless" and the video was uploaded on the 21st.
Hope to see your reaction to it. ❤️
I do and have reacted but the video is being edited 😅
@@themetalmuse Gotcha!
I'll be looking out for it. ❤️
Bambie Thug was an absolute force of nature, my heart's torm between them and (because I have different tastes to you) the Armenian lead singer who is absolutely adorable.
I do get the feeling that if that Irish dancer was to walk into your room looking like that you'd be all "...what husband...? ...what boyfriend...? I... I'm... single me I am!"
I do wish Portugal had sent Maria João with Dia to Malmo. That song was a delightful mix of Bjork, Nina Hagen and the sort of joyful insanity that makes Eurovision for me!
Also, a shame Norway came last with a song that you might like but Bambie Thug stole all the thunder from.
Great reaction. If you want to check out other works of Bambie, there's a live performance of Tsunami 11 : 11 at the London Eurovision Party, and the MVs for Tsunami, Egregore, Love Bites are great, too.
Thank you I will
Check out the music video!
I will
You should also check bambie thug - tsunami 11 : 11 @ Londong Eurovision Party. Incredible live performance , very- metal song with electro elements .
Still can't get enough of their LEP performance 😍

There has been metal before at Eurovision, there maNga with We Could Be the Same, Lordi with Hard Rock Hallelujah (which straddles the rock/metal border), Dark Side by Blind Channel, Blood and Glitter by Lord of the Lost, Zitti e Buoni by Maneskin (border of glam metal and rock), Viszlat Nyar by AWS, Apocalyptica was an interval act at one point, In Your Dreams by Wig Wam was definitely more on the Glam Metal side, Hatrið mun sigra by Hatari was more industrial metal, Higher Ground by Rasmussen, even Rasmus turned up with Jezebel (which deserved far better than it got). There's usually at least one rock or metal act per year and it usually does well
Yeah but what’s better than some metal? MORE METAL 🤘
BT used real ritual in this perfomance, ..Many wicca , witch or pagan rituals historically started with drawn pentagram and circle around it After spell you can break the circle if you want. Pentagram and circle has meaning of highes protection but also highes vibrational power. It is some kind of shield for person who do the spell. after you did spell you can break the circle. Breaking the circle means that spell should be now released and realised in 3 D but also that all called entititis from another realms should go "home" after ritual is done and not staying on earth,.BT is great, very talented artist, awesome perfomance
🤘🫶 that’s awesome
I think you'd enjoy Scarlet - Cirkus X that was a contender for the swedish eurovision this year, but they didn't even make it to the swedish finals, which is a bloody atrocity. They were so good, also right up ur alley!
Peace from swe
Druidress 💚💚💚💚
🙌
Now i'm reaaly interested in what you think of baby lasagne and what you think of blind channel in eurovision 2021 :D I'm a metalhead but Eurovision is my guilty pleasure :D There are often a couple of rock or metal songs in it.
Also, have you seen lord of the losts performance last year? Personally i think blood and glitter was great
Please check out Careless, I know what you did last summer, Love Bites, Ritual, Headbang!! All different and brilliant. Loved your reaction
какая красивая женщина🤩 музыкальный номер потрясающе красив и крут ! с любовью из 🇺🇦
If you want a random industrial "this went to eurovision?!" thing to check out, I recommend Iceland's 2019 entry, Hatari. One of my all time favourites.
It’s on my to do. Lots of people keep telling me to do it ❤️❤️❤️
Can you check out iceland in Eurovision in 2019?
