People seem to be surprised that Ireland would send a song like this to Eurovision, dont forget Ireland were the 1st country to celebrate Halloween , as a child many the story i listened to were witches and horror stories combined to frighten the shit out of you
but you also have to factor in that most people are incredible stupid and have an out dated view of Ireland e.g poverty, deeply religious and conservative, potatoes, alcohol etc excuse me now i have to slide down a rainbow to dig for potatoes in ditches because im so incredibly poor.
The best I have ever seen and tells a story within. My question is some people say they are religious?? What's that got to do with this performance ?? Is it because the boyfriend created looks looks devil like?
You can't compare it to previous years. Songs like Rock and Roll kids as a song are far more timeless that this as the song itself is just so beautiful. Bambi clearly realised what it takes to win ESC nowadays. You literally have to put on a massive performance. The song is far from the best ESC has ever had, but from a theatrics point of view, its the best in the history,
To be Fair, Ireland has been a pagan country for longer and way before christianity ever came to our shores. Even our flavour of Catholicism is steep in pagan roots. Including Bridget, Yule, bonfires, faeries and Samhain etc. to name a few. The spiritual connection to nature has very much been blended into our christian traditions. But I reckon at this time you'd find more staunch Irish Catholics in the states than in Ireland. They have somehow confused their Irish heritage with being catholic. js.
As lithuanian, I fully understand you. Lithuania was the last pagan country in Europe, we officially became christins first in 1387. We have many pagan traditions, even for Christmas, there are many pagan music groups. Love, love, love this song and performance!
We grew up Catholic with a understanding of the dark mythology from our past here in Ireland. Stories of Banshees, witches and satanic circles, and pagan rituals were common. Well done to Bambi Thug for celebrating that tradition.
This year I decided not to watch all entries before watching the festival itself and boy did this one surprise me because of it. Loved every second of it though, and the ending, with the scream and the slogan, gave me chills.
Anything that is different from the standard generic euro-fare that we usually get (UK - I'm looking at you) has got to be good, and this has got it in pentacles! That is one extremely well-constructed and performed song - they've got my vote!
Great reaction... love everything about this performance - the song, the design, the vocal, the dancing and flawless execution. Seriously one of the best Eurovision performances ever.
It's not a song you want to just hear. You need to see the performance cause the song and the visuals blends together perfectly. It's unique experience which is what Eurovision is all about.
Great reaction, your face radiated happiness when Bambie started to scream. Totally agree, this performance was on another level! I hope Ireland will keep on sending such talents in the coming years. 💚🤍🧡
The Symbols that she has, like the star on the ground and the symbol on her forehead and some of her tattoos represent Druid symbols...Ancient Ireland. They are not satanic. I'm not sure, but I think her hair represents Antlers not devil horns...what druids would have worn. If the elderly irish people have a problem with it, they really should look up their ancient Irish history. Also her pink and blue outfit is a nod to the Trans flag. I think its amazing. Very theatrical. Amazing performance. If it doesn't win...Ireland will still be a very proud country. 🇮🇪
Yeah the artist is actually non binary I believe they are the first to perform on euro vision it truly is amazing to see the trans rep in dark times for trans people
Ive been watching eurovision for 25+ years now, and this is by far the best sceneshow, song, singer, everything. it was pure art!. Loved their performance. Bambie Thug is fecking amazing. And i cant get the picture out of The Morrigan from Irish mythos out of my head when i see their performance. :D
This is groundbreaking stuff! I’m so thrilled to see acts like these getting some recognition, praise and air time! And she didn’t have to get naked and sexual to get this attention. Brilliant! Very strong and confident performance. 👏
Just to point out that until last year Ireland had won the Contest more times than anyone else-7 times. Sweden caught us last year. And that includes winning it three times in a row including four times in five years. And we staged it every time after winning.
@@theeggtimertictic1136 Especially as most countries would give anything to win and host it because that’s a huge way of showcasing your country to hundreds of millions of people. I think that there are now people who have never heard of the Eurovision Song Contest coming across it on social media and trying to comment with no understanding of how and why it came about and how over the past 68 years it has become part of the European narrative (plus of course the non European but members of the EBU participants). They regard it as some sort of “….’s Got Talent’ show. I even heard Simon Cowell’s name being mentioned in one review ☹️.
I'll tell you one thing, this entry to Eurovision is the only one in my Eurovision history for that went from rock bottom in my ears when I heard it for the first time to my personal top 5 after seeing that performance ! We really need amazing stuff like this on the stage, bravo Ireland !
I think Ireland won it so many times and packed it in. As soon as Sweden come along and match Irelands wins, the Irish are like ‘ugh… ok we need one more, let’s pop Bambi over’. 😂
Win ,loss or draw ..it doesn't matter one bit! You're review is top class in my opinion..clearly knowledgeable about the history of the Eurovision but you also have an extremely professional musical background and knowledge which is brilliant . Delighted to listen to your opinion , it's top class.
His information is really inaccurate about ireland . Ok your information is completely inaccurate , ireland is currently THIRD richest in the world per capita, and is an expensive country. Ireland have hosted seven times as they won 7 and actually won THREE In a row. Really disappointing ignorant comment,; their is rich countries outside of America and currently America is trillions in debt. I can’t believe you would just say that so casually
This was the performance that grabbed my soul, shook it and put it back in with a mark left on it. Wow, what an insanely captivating performance. And the breakdown was both the hottest thing I've ever seen and the most epic start to the climax of the song. I took this as a celebration of the weirds and wonderfuls of this world. Dip it all into a big ol' bowl of confidence, and tada! Fantastic.
I'm liking how unique this is. But I'm feeling it's missing a catchier hook or chorus. All the pieces are pretty much there, it just feels like it's missing something. If it did I think I could see this winning.
I think you’re probably right. I’ve listened to it a couple of times… and after a while I can’t recall a single melody that I could sing now. Still… brilliantly entertaining.
If you can appreciate art and theatrical performance .. even if you don’t like gothic rock metal you have to admit that chorus melody is sang beautiful and she works between the different styles of vocals all while dancing .. wow how talented… she is out of this world.
It's true Ireland is a massively Catholic country now but to say this is not a very Irish song is massively incorrect. The Irish were a powerhouse of Paganism a long time ago. Fun fact. Ireland had no witch trial while the reat of Europe was busy
They decided there would be no women left.
Not true. The last witch trial in Ireland was in Islandmagee, near Carrickfergus. It resulted in one man being executed.
The first trial , and one of the most famous , was that of Dame Alice Kyteler , who hailed from County Kilkenny .
I'm not sure why this old fashioned view of Ireland prevails. Bambi Thug is a fantastic representation of modern Ireland and they did us proud.
