You are SO correct in this! I have been meditating for around 4 months now for tinnitus and am beginning to get better at it. I have always been bothered by the stray thoughts entering my thinking during the process and thinking this meant I was not meditating correctly but you have reassured me that this means I am actually getting things right. You have given me a real confidence boost...thanks. Alan U.K.

Tinnitus made me thinking life over. I had to make choices I avoided so long. It brought me closer to myself. You cannot hate tinnitus (or chronic pain, or, or...) it is you. Love yourself. Meditation is a great way of 'getting rid of the daily crap', bringing you closer to who you really are. Excellent thoughts here, Carl. Very useful.

In Raja yoga book by vivekananda.... When u r practicing meditation/prana yama.... (prana means life breadth or liveliness ) If u move into cosmic state u will hear a bell ringing continuous sound .... It is a sign that ur meditation is giving good results....
Next comes other peoples thought readings and next comes etc etc.... These r all extra ordinary powers ... Which if we dont get entangled in them and move on..... Then u will enlighten , then u will know what is what,. Existence, salvation, god, angels, creation....
There r many things which most of them not know and they guide as per thier knowledge and experience or ignorance..... If u care for truth god will embrace u and directs u to the what lies beyond our sphere.

    Hi Carl...
    Thank you for your tips...
Ive had Tinnitus for over 2 years now...
And my tip is learning to ignore it...
When i lay down to go to sleep at night i have an air purifier...
    A cool mist humidifier...
And of course i play rain sound on my phone near my bed...
So..all those sounds create a good distraction from the ringing in my ears...
I focus on hearing those sounds which are relaxing sounds...
    Then i fall asleep...
Hopefully with some type of Miracle this Tinnitus will go away...
But if not..I will deal with it..
Wishing you & everyone with Tinnitus the best!!

By far the biggest struggle of my life right now putting me in a dark mental state. Watching your video was very inspiring. I've been trying to practice meditation but haven't been successful to this point. Who did you think was the most helpful in teaching you to meditate. Thanks again for your inspiring video.

Now to apply this thinking to my daily practice, meditation is such a beautiful and powerful tool I use as one of my daily elevators. Thank you for explaining it in such a way that would make people new to it, more comfortable with the amazingness of being present ❤️🙏

Sorry to hear about your tinnitus problem Carl but glad to hear you've found ways of managing the pain.
You mentioned on here about breathe work some time ago and at the time there was no way I could breathe in and out over that time period. With work, I'm now very conscious over my breath work, specifically nasal breathing. I wouldn't say I meditate but by listening to yourself, James Nestor and lastly, Patrick McKeown who has featured on School of Calisthenics podcast a couple of times, it has improved my health and my sleep no end.
I hope that you can continue to fix these problems.

Thank you so much Carl. I too am worried with my condition as I seem to be having an onset of tinnitus which manifests in the form of a spasmodic buzz in my left ear when my surroundings are quite - like late at night before going to bed and early in the morning after waking. This problem first appeared towards the end of 2019 when I caught a cold. i didnt report this to the doctor thinking that it might be due to the cold and would pass away once the cold was cured and it really did in about 2-3 months time. It resurfaced in the middle of 2020 when I was very stressed with problems with my vocal cords and my voice therapist told me that these things often happen due to increased mental stress and subside when the stress reduces and it did disappear again. It has now reappeared. I am having to work late nights for the past several months and am being deprived of sleep. I will follow your advice and see if it goes away. I am yet to consult a doctor. I am interested to know if you ever took medicines or underwent any other therapy for this problem and if so, if you have been able to do away with medication/therapies with the help of this practice of meditation.
    Thanking you in advance

Thank you for this video, I will start today with this, I just noticed this ring in my ear a month ago, and had a hearing test too, came out perfect. Usually my negative thoughts make it worse, and scary thoughts that is a signal of a bad disease. It’s annoying, but I will try the meditation 🧘‍♀️ I comes and goes, some mornings I don’t even hear it than others all day long.

Hi Jeff. Question. You mentioned raising our hands and looking at them with our eyes. The next phase was to close our eyes and mentally see them and feel them. When I close my eyes can I lower my hands instead of holding them up?
I've had this high, thin pitch hissing tinnitus for many years. About a week ago, I was lying on my bed about to go to sleep but I felt I wanted a snack and drink. I was at that time trying to do the keto diet but I ate some chocolate covered biscuits. I felt guilty I was putting in sugar into my system. I then went to sleep. I woke up a few hours later in the middle of the night with a much louder hissing sound ringing from my ears! I asked myself was this due to the sugar increase from the chocolate biscuits? Days went by and I felt that the hissing reduced to a lower volume. Again, few days later, prior to going to bed, I ate a large bunch of grapes - not knowing that grapes have a high glucose/sugar content. I was woken up with a much louder hissing sound again! Was this a coincidence or was it truly related to the increase of sugar levels in my blood stream? I am now beginning to believe there is a connection with sugar and tinnitus.
According to Dr. Eric Berg, sugar destroys the nervous system and destroys the inner ear which causes ringing.
According to Dr. Eric Berg, a study found that 84% of individuals who have tinnitus have high levels of insulin.
There is a correlation between sugar(glucose) levels and insulin. The more sugar in the blood, the more insulin is produced. Hence, high levels of insulin means you are eating a lot of foods containing sugar.
I pass this info below on to you and others in case it helps.
In this video, ua-cam.com/video/Cbylubjzhhg/v-deo.html, Dr. Berg discusses the relation between high insulin and tinnitus.
Can blood sugar cause ringing in the ears?
Yes! The inner ear and the brain have no glycogen storage unit, they depend on sugar in the blood.
When you have high levels of sugar, four areas of the body could be destroyed: the heart, the kidney, the brain, and the nervous system.
That’s why you get peripheral neuropathy and start to feel numbness. So, high blood sugar can destroy the nerves of the inner ear, you get ringing, which is called tinnitus.
Also, high blood sugar depletes nutrients, especially vitamin B1, then you start getting these symptoms.
Can insulin cause ringing in the ears?
A study showed that around 84% of tinnitus cases have high insulin but they never check for it.
What do we do about tinnitus?
    • Find a good source of a fat-soluble B vitamin called Benfotiamine. It innervates the nerves to help them heal from high sugar or high insulin.
    • Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting

But now, the intensity has gone down that I don't even think about it or notice it. Yes, I have it but not as loud as it came that one evening which lasted for some days. There may be several reasons for tinnitus, stress, diet, lack of sleep, too much sexual release etc. I would recomment looking up Qigong under the Master Chunyi Lin - Founder and Creator of Spring Forest Qigong - which is all about healing and getting all of your energy centres flowing and working again which increases and repairs the organs of the body.

Thanks for the video. I’ve had Tinnitus for some years but it became worse a few weeks ago until I was obsessing about it all the time. Like you I had used meditation but started doing it more regularly and personally I think it is the key to understanding what tinnitus is and being able to live with it. And as you said it almost seems like a marker in life if something is out of balance - emotional stress, relationships, worry generally etc. To see tinnitus as something almost useful rather than scary and isolating is challenging at first but eventually very valuable.

Hey there Carl! First time I see one of your videos. I'm dealing with some tinnitus right now. So my main question would be, how can you focus on sth else but the ringing, or the noise in your ears? Thank you!

    • @iamcarlpaoli
      @iamcarlpaoli  Рік тому +2

When it comes to Tinnitus, the first thing to manage is your relationship with it. It's not dangerous, and you don't need it if it's not serving you. This new perspective and mindset changes everything for the better.
My suggestion is that you sit or lay down, listen to the ringing in your ears, and notice what emotions surround it. If you start getting upset or stressed from focusing on the ringing, move away from paying attention to it and focus on other parts of your body that are feeling good, and when ready, come back to the ringing. If you do this a few times and for a while, you will notice a subtle shift in your state of being and feel slightly better.
Start with the exercise, and let's see where it goes.

The tone that is played, is that what you hear? If it is, you're lucky. Mine is high pitched bilateral ringing for the last 29 years of my life.
I've tried meditating, but can't stand silence. Silence means one thing for me: PAIN
Silence is a guaranteed means of giving myself a monster migraine...at least compared to my normal ones, which I get on a regular basis and have been for 33 years, since I was 12.
Closest I can get to any meditative state is listening to Days of the New (green cd). It's one of the few cds I can just let my mind wander and get to at least a half relaxed state. Jars of Clay (with flood) used to do the same thing for me, till the tape got eaten by the player.
Not too fond of Celtic music to relax with, but if anyone else relaxes or meditated with music lemme know so I can try some new things. Any help would be appreciated, ty

The way that I think about it, is that the tinnitus is like a frequency. I imagine it being like tuning into an old radio channel. And within that channel within that frequency I simply listen. When I listen I have the sense that the tinnitus moves from the air where it’s usually present into my entire head and eventually my whole awareness. When the ring in is part of my whole awareness I imagine a volume knob and I turn the volume knob towards zero And thus silencing the ring.

It was all over my head and now just a little left in my right ear. I had literally 30 days of silence then set of my trigger which is mobile phones, certain foods and not sleeping. I stay away from loud noises and spend my time outside and fasting. Guys if you want to reverse it it is possible, just need to sacrifice the things that trigger it off.

@@iamcarlpaoli I have had T for 1.5 years and initially it was 7-8 different sounds and I couldn't hear my own breath because of it. I had a year of debilitating anxiety because of it, I contemplated suicide. I couldn't eat, I slept 45 min-2h a night. Even so the sounds went lower and despite the most stressful time in my life I now only hear it at night and when I wake in the morning. I mostly I sleep ok. I have experimented with food, caffeine, alcohol, exercise etc and cannot find any coincidences with how the T is. Confusing. @@Reroluelisre Hi, sorry I didn't see this post! I too spent tens of thousands of dollars on treatments. As I mentioned in another thread I felt like Julian Cowan Hill's relaxing exercises were what helped me most.
The sounds went dowb very gradually, but not in a linear line and with lots of spikes. I still get spikes and it's very loud but now I relax through them as I know the worst ones pass quickly and the not so loud ones last only a day or two. Then I usually have a headset listening to funny podcasts or music or try to preoccupy myself with exercise and family/dog.
I also wanted to say I forgot to mention I did CBD oil for many months. I stopped because I didn't feel any relief in anxiety/insomnia but who knows, maybe it helped. I don't know tbh. I am going to order it again now as I hope to have an effect on what remains of anxiety. 🌻

Gawd, if that's the case, I must be really blessed as I have like 2- 3 frequencies of tinnitus going on in my ear.
Though you know it became this way with a person screaming directly in my ear at a concert, working at a grocery store with the ring up sound WAY too high and a dog barking point blank in my ear. My right ear has had quite the abuse. Not to mention me, myself abusing myself by being so upset with the ringing that I turned the volume all the way up to the most loud and obnoxious things I could find on the internet as well as punching myself in the head multiple times where I probably gave myself a slight concussion...tinnitus can mess with you mentally and emotionally if you aren't prepared for it. I had it where I could turn it off and on and it's was no problem, I lived with it, but when the dog barked in my ear and the tinnitus became layered, that's when I lost it.
It is definitely an experience. I've come to terms with the multi layered ringing more or less, but there are some days where it is so aggressively loud.
