I completely changed my life in the last 6 weeks. I was lazy, out of shape, and had a job I bludged at 90% of the time. Im going to the gym, changed my diet, joined a maraphon, doing more at work. Looking for a new career. Reading more and so on. Trying different types of relief. Seeing a therapist, and now learning to spin my life from negative to a positive one, Trying chiropractor tomorrow as after a night of headbanging i woke up 6weeks ago with bad Tinnitus. I paid $7500au for a hearing aid that can mask my T some of the time. But my goal is to completely train my brain to turn down the sound to 0. Only people who give up, will always suffer from the T These goals to get us on the road to recovery are great! Thank you Lately I went from a constant 8 to a 6. Goal is for a 0 all the time
I think my biggest challenge with anxiety and tinnitus is going to sleep. I’ve been trying out a Spotify playlist called ‘calming music for anxious cats’ so far it’s helping ❤
I find the way to reduce anxiety is to have a predetermined plan to deal with the T in advance for each situation. In this way you are not anxious as you already know what to do.
I think the hardest part for me is when I am distracted, the reminder happens and I have to try and train to say.. okay, it's there, it's not going to destroy me, I'm injured, there's hope, and I can get distracted again.
I always remind myself thst it can be ignored just like a dirty spot on a windshield, it's annoying when you focus on it, but for the most part you can ignore it and continue the task
You're amazing Glenn and give so many little people with tinnitus help and very importantly hope. I personally am habituating but get days when its one step backwards so listening to your advice and reading your book 'Rewiring Tinnitus' has been an absolute godsend..hence my comment suggesting the book is the Tinnitus bible. Thank you.
Excellent...and from having worked with you Glenn, your message encapsulates a lot of what tinnitus suffers need to conceptualize to begin to habituate; and for those of us that are well on our way with habitations, this is a great reminder and reinforcer. Thanks for sharing.
I trust this video helped some. Personally I don't have difficult moments: it's permanent. Although, yes, under most circumstances I'm distracted and not noticing it. However, if I get reminded if it, such as seeing there's a recommended tinnitus video on UA-cam, then I hear it loud & clear.
Feels like mines comes and goes mostly when I’m sleeping it comes. But it’ll pop up throughout the week during the day start high in one ear lower in frequency then fade away. I just can’t confirm if I have tinnitus or if I do it’s just a mild case right now. My problem is I always suffered from anxiety specifically health anxiety thinking I always have something I don’t or believe I have something I don’t cause little things here and there my worry overtakes me. But that ring that comes and goes is real I just don’t know if it’s cause for concern just yet and I’m scared of it
For me the masking is a last resort so if I'm using it when I'm not having a tinnitus panic attack then I will constantly think if it gets bad even with this, what will I do then???
When I first had tinnitus i would have thoughts like these and one thing that helped was to write them down and 1) point out the flaws in my thinking (often, the worry includes some exaggeration and a common one was "catastrophising" - i.e., believing a worst case scenario was inevitable when it actually wasn't) and 2) writing out corresponding positive thoughts (like "there's so many things I haven't tried yet so we'll just add another technique & just go from there"). When Panic Attacks by Dr. Burns gives a whole worksheet/process for doing this whenever you need it. I used that a lot along with Glenn's meditations (would even incorporate my worksheet positive thoughts into the meditations) and eventually I didn't need it anymore as I habituated
Unless your tinnitus is massively loud it should always work. But I see what your saying you don’t want your only source of hope to die out and be left with it and the panic alone. Don’t worry tho that will never happen to you. Keep the masking sounds at your side on the ready should you need it and get yourself relief. Feel calm and relax

I find some drops of Lavendar oil on my pillow at night helps me sleep.
Great advice makes sense to me!

What should the people who get worse permanently from sounds as low as the tv do?
Thanks
No problem! 😊
