I have always done the cable cast on. That's how I was taught to knit. I was taught to cast on with needles one size larger than I will be knitting with to make up for the tighter tension of the cast o .
Exciting! I think you will find that the pattern is extremely well written and if you're familiar with crocheting amigurumi it will help! Good luck to you!!
These would seemingly be super easy to make with different sizes dowl rods, or even the handle of a wooden spoon?... Look at your craft /hardware stores for the spools of wire /wire cutters. I used to make a smaller version on large kindergarten pencils for the dolls that my mother and I used to make years ago.😊
Little Cotton Rabbits are my favorite patterns of all time! I have been so intimidated in purchasing a pattern, I just don't know if I can do it justice. A break down of some of the trickier techniques is just what I need for confidence. Thanks so much
I bought my first Little Cotton Rabbits a year before I could actually make it! I just kept working on those skills!! Good luck!! They are beautiful patterns! 🐰🐰🐰
Hi Elise, I've seen some small eyeglasses at my local hobby lobby in the doll making section. I've picked one up because of your amigurumi. Thanks for the inspiration! I just love everything that you make. Love your photos on Instagram and love your videos here on youtube. Keep up the great work! Xoxo
You can make your own. There’s different colored wire in the beading section of Walmart. Just buy a dole rod, then twist the wire around the rod for the size glass or circle you want & add your side pieces the length you need. I’ve made them for my little mini dolls.
Thank you so much! I did end up making one very small pair and they turned out pretty good. Tried it again and utterly failed! Lol! I found some inexpensive ones on Etsy and they fit the toys perfectly!
I have the Little Cotton Rabbits pattern but I greatly need a video tutorial, I am a visual learner. Would you ever consider doing a class and we can verify that we have indeed bought the pattern, sort of like they do at yarn stores? I don't have a LYS nearby or I would ask them to consider!
@@EliseRoseCrochet That is so unfortunate, I wish Julie would offer them or allow it. I'm not on Facebook, but I have looked at the Ravelry group. Just wish I had someone in person to help!
I saw on Pinterest a llama with glasses. On the last page (10) of the instructions is explained how to make the glasses in case you don’t find them. Look for Hipster Llama. Hope this helps.
Thank you for these tips. I just made a bunny, working on the dress right now, but boy, I found it such a struggle. My ears seem to be so floppy, and I was wondering if you have a video on working on the ears so that aren't quite so floppy. I used a cotton yarn, if that makes any difference.
It could be that your yarn doesn't have a lot of structure to it, which basically means it has a nice drape and might make a great garment that lays beautifully, but doesn't necessarily work well for knitted toys. That would be the first thing I would ty to change. You could also try tightening up your tension for the ears to see if you can get them a little more stiff or even go down a size in knitting needles. I hope that helps!
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thanks Elise. I did already think of that. I have a bunch I purchased, but I am seriously thinking about a wool yarn, cuz I think it may have a firmer hold. And, I am using a size 2 double point, cuz that's what I had at the time. But thinking about purchasing a circular set. I don't know if I can go down any further in needle size, but maybe.
@@nancylacross9276 sounds like it could be the yarn. Do you have anything else lying around just to experiment and see if it works up a little firmer? I also wouldn't go down any further in your size of the needle either!
Yes you definitely can. The designer recommends the cable cast on because it is less stretchy so there may be a little bit of difference in the finished product but I would doubt much! Thanks so very much for your kind words!
Hi Elise, what is the normal size of knitting or circular knitting needles to use for knitting dolls? So far I have 16" (8mm and 10mm) circular needles, and also 3.50mm, 4.25mm, 4.5mm and 5.0mm straight needles. Any advice would be appreciated thank you!!🥰
Most of the patterns I've used are between 2.5 mm and 4 mm. I think the most frequent one I used was 3 mm. Hope that helps! But the patterns always list the sizes! 🧶🧶🧶
I'm actually not sure. It could be since there seem to be so many different names for the same thing in knitting. It's a less stretchy cast on which is perfect for toy edges that need to be a little more firm.
They are very similar, what is shown here is the cable cast on. The knitted cast on is a repeat of the very first stitch she showed where you use the first stitch on the left needle not the space between stitches.
There are specific links to my favorites yarns within the blog post at lepetitsaintcrochet.com/2019/08/08/knitting-toys-101-cable-cast-on-and-blocking/#more-1533 You also can always check out Love Crafts as well!
My comment has nothing to do with knitting. I am watching your videos because you are such a good teacher. I wanted to pass on something Elizabeth Taylor said once. She said she cleans her jewels with a toothbrush and toothpaste to make them sparkle. I saw your engagement ring, and I thought she needs to know since she’s making videos. And my personal preference from watching many, many knitting videos is that nail polish is a distraction. I am so happy you don’t wear it, at least in this video.
I don't think so but you can buy it on Etsy. Here's the link to the specific pattern. Hope that helps! www.etsy.com/listing/150803661/toy-knitting-pattern-for-a-bunny-rabbit?ref=shop_home_active_13&bes=1

Knitting toys is so much fun!! You will love it!! 🧶🧶🧶
I just purchased this pattern yesterday.

I've made it to the shoe section for Girl Bunny in a Dotty dress and I am so stuck, the instructions are not making sense.
Unfortunately I am not able to teach a class online for any Little Cotton Rabbits patterns. Have you checked in the Facebook group for help? ❤️❤️❤️

Can you start with a long tail cable cast on instead to make amigurumis? Thanks for sharing one more great video!
