Just got into quilting, this will be my very first project! Can't wait to learn all the techniques....one day :0 My friend's new baby will be receiving all my practice quilts lol!
Be careful, quilting is addictive 😀. These quilts are nice and easy to start with. Your friend will love receiving your practice quilts. Enjoy your new hobby.
Finally a tutorial from start to finish, first I've ever found that simplifies it and take the mystery out of quilting, such a great video, thanks so much! I feel I can tackle my first one now!
That's great to hear Julie. :) These are so quick and easy to make. Don't forget to check out our other easy quilt patterns as well. www.alandacraft.com/category/quilting/quilting-tutorials/
Thank you! I love this! I'm at a point where I'm preparing to start a new quilt and my guild does charity quilts. This is perfect! I like that I can make it bigger too simply by either using wider strips, more strips or making that top more of a panel and making a few panels to sew together! Again, thank you! You just made a rainy Saturday morning brighter for this quilter! 👍😁
I haven't made one using flannelette, but I can't see why you couldn't use flannelette instead of quilting cotton. I don't pre=wash my fabric Diane, but some people do. It's a personal choice.
I really love the simplicity of this project. Since you chose to do quilting lines 2” apart and that one line ended up to be in the ditch, when constructing the top would you want to shorten your stitch length just in case the quilting is in the ditch? I worry that a standard stitch length wouldn’t be tight enough for in the ditch stitching. What stitch length for constructing quilt top did you use, and would you shorten that so when quilting in the ditch it’s a more secure seam? FYI ~ your delivery is calming and so enjoyable to listen and follow, it instills confidence. Thank you!!
I use the default stitch on my machine, but it certainly is worth considering shortening the stitch when it comes to the ditch stitching part. I haven't had any problems with using a regular stitch, so far (touch wood). Thank you for the sharing this tip. And thank you so much for your lovely comment. 😀
Hola, me ha encantado el tutorial, sencillo y práctico, ya que soy una principiante del patchword. Me gustan los colores vivos y el diseño de vuestras telas, puedes indicarme por favor, donde podria comprar (web) .
Hi Mariana, thank you for your lovely comment, and welcome to the world of quilting and patchwork. These fabrics were bought from our local Spotlight store here in Australia. You could try fabric.com or www.joann.com/. Both these shops have some lovely bright fabrics. :)
No Brenda. We don't wash our fabric before using it. And touch wood, we haven't had any problems with it so far. But there is no reason why you can't wash it beforehand it it makes you feel more comfortable. it's simply a personal choice.
Wanda, you use spray batting and pins? I've not used spray yet, however, I thought the spray eliminates the need to pin. Am I wrong? Pat-Houston, Texas
lol, I see where you are coming from. Here is our video on machine binding a quilt ua-cam.com/video/Z9me4B_etm8/v-deo.html This may help, We also have one on how to calculate the amount of binding you need for your quilt.
It certainly can Brenda. See Deb's comment below. Just work our the size you want and add strips together to make it longer and keep adding strips to make it wider. It could easily be made into a double or a queen size. I keep the projects for the tutorials smaller where I can, to save time.
It depends on the batting you use, check the manufacturers recommendations online or on their packaging. Having the seams 6" apart may lead to the layers being too loose and the batting may shift, and cause bunching. Which is not an attractive look. So adding the extra stitching lines keeps the layers firmly together., and I personally like the extra lines. But as I say, it will depend on your batting.
Love you simply beautiful quilt
Yeah, I saw this on pinterest today and that brought me to your video. So I've brought out my fabric stash and I'll give this a go.
Excellent. It's really easy to make.
Excellent, thanks
Easy yes. Thank you!!!

Did you wash your fabric first ? If not, would it all bubble up in places ?

Patricia Chanler She used the spray only on one side. She pinned on the other.
Deb, thank you. I did not catch that.
Patricia Chanler No problem! We're all here to help one another! 😉👍
Will you please do a video on the quilts that have like little triangles on them?
Maybe you could send me a photo of what you are looking for - contact@alandacraft.com.
Can u add a binder on that? Very nice.
You certainly can if you wish to. but the idea behind this quilt is to make it easy for beginners and so it doesn't require binding.
@@alandacraft Thank u bc I want it 2 b easier, but add binding 2 make it look more difficult making me look like a master like u ladies on UA-cam. Lol

Why not just stitch in the ditch ?
