Bob is one of the greatest balladiers of rock. All his songs have a story. Hollywood Nights, Turn the Page, Main Street, Ol Time Rock and Roll are all classics.
This song is so wonderful. About growing up, teenage exploration, and growing old. A feel good tune for sure. I always pair this song with Hollywood night by Bob Seger similar subject matter but I like them both the same. Bob Seger also worte a song called Rosalie back in the 70s. It was about the music director at one of North America's biggest and most import radio stations of the 60s and 70s called CKLW(The Big 8) her name was Rosalie Trombley and she was known as the girl with the golden ear. Folks would come from near and far to visit the station and drop off their record and hope to make an impression on Rosalie. She gave early play to Bob Seger, as well as Kiss, Stevie Wonder, and many many other artist. CKLW was located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 but Windsor and Detroit Michigan are super close only separated by a river and a bridge so the station served both Window amd Detroit and some folks claimed they could pick it up in neighboring cities too as they had a huge transmitter. The station was very much a part of the Detroit/Windsor community at the time. The news team at the station was called 20/20 News and they would wear flashy suits and drive mustangs with the words 20/20 CKLW on it. They were usually the first reports to crime scenes driving those mustangs lol 😆 anyway cool station and Rosalie was a big deal in the music industry at that time. Sadly she passed away in 2021, I think she was in her 80s. She said she never really liked Bob Segers song about her, I think it was because she was more of a behind the scenes kind of person, didn't want or need the spotlight or attention. Thin Lizzy also made a kick ass cover of the song Rosalie. Sorry for rambling, have a nice day
Seger was voted best male singer of the year more than a few times. His catalog is pretty lengthy with lots of great songs. My personal favs are Still The Same and Firelake... Seger's got night moves, but you've got dance moves!!! I saw a little swim action there. Now you can dance too, on top of being the best singer from Australia (other than Sia) that I know of... and your taste in nail polish is lovely, that's a pretty shade of purple🙂🙂🙂
I’ve taken the hint Cleon, both songs have been added to my list 😆 Hahaha 🏊♀️ just like in Finding Nemo (set partly in Sydney), I “just keep swimming”. It’s a winning move, everyone loves a little swim action 🤣 Look, let’s be honest… Tina Arena can also sing better than I can… As much as I try to beat her at singing Chains, I’m slightly behind her in talent. Oh thank you for noticing lovely. I wanted something fun to look at after my crappy week. 💗
This song brings back memories for me. In particular when this came out I was living in Nebraska and at the time the drinking age was 19 so buddy and I hooked up with a couple of chicks and drove down to Kansas where the drinking age was 18. On the way there we were playing this album. This song worked perfectly.😎🎸👌
I don't think you're imagine the change toward the end Jess. To me it sounds like Bob adds a wistful tone to his voice as he slows the tempo, stretching out the song a little longer.
This song pairs well with your channel title. But seriously Bob Seger is a huge rabbit hole full of some great music. Basically pick any of his work you can't go wrong 😁💚
Funny, but as one closer to 70 than 60 yrs old, I can say that I still remember the night moves. Those early days when everything still had some magic with the apprehension.
Always really liked this one, and "Turn The Page" by Seger. Not sure if you had the same Ford commercials downunder, but Seger also made "Like a Rock" which was the Ford F150 commercial music, for-ev-er.
Another wonderful song by Seeger... I suggest you for a reaction: Sun of Jamaica (Goombay Dance Band), Tie a yellow ribbon roun the ole oak tree (Tony Orlando), Bbay I love your way (Peter Frampton)... there're so many....
Hi Jess... just watched your Hot Shots reaction and now you're back here... unfortunately not with my suggestion, but with another great artist and song that I haven't heard for a very long time. By the way, your dog is really cute. Love your words and thoughrs after the song. And now on to Auora... really can't wait to see your reaction to this one. Best wishes from Germany : Gerry

If you like his voice, you really should listen to his song “Main Street”. It’s beautifully haunting.
Absolutely true.

Thin Lizzy covered this song but it did sound different. If you look on the Live and Dangerous album it says written by Bob.
@@williamjones6031 I go back to the Thin Lizzy version more than the Original, both are great though

One of my favorite songs of his. He is great in concert.
Especially in Detroit
Bob was always on point and never was about faking it ... 'Sailing Nights" and ''Beautiful Loser'' .

I agree you can pick ANY song !
I love your interpretation of the song. Very unique and spot on. And yes- that voice!!
His song “Come to PAPA” might make you blush as well . 😊
beautiful song as you are..,
I was 13 when this song was released and that's when I learned not to argue with women because they could make better "points" than I could.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Pretty sure the commercial was for a Chevy.
@@joethebumbler You are correct, it was Chevy. Damn, I should have known that.
