Ugh, you make me feel old... 🙂 To say that you've never heard of Bob Seger, to me, is like saying that you've never heard of Beethoven. This song came out in the 1976 and was all over the radio. It probably is on the sound track of multiple movies but, it was never featured. His song Turn The Page, from '73 is an iconic and amazing song by him. Great reaction. Thanks!

This song came out in 1976, on his album of the same name. Bob is
Phenomenal and is my favorite artist of all time. He’s a fantastic lyricist, singer and story teller. He touches your soul and takes you back to a time. His “Like a rock” and “ against the wind” should be on your radar. Really anything by Bob is great, can’t go wrong

  • @wordgiesworld5483
    @wordgiesworld5483 2 місяці тому +1

As mentioned, the young man is Matt LeBlanc, a year or two before he became Joey. He was friends with the video director, Wayne Isham (who has an impressive list of music videos he’s directed. He cast Matt as a favor. Just before this, Matt also had a small part in the Tom Petty video Into the Great Wide Open with Johnny Depp and Faye Dunnaway.
The “black haired beauty with big dark eyes” is Daphne Zuniga. She was in Melrose Place and a bunch of other smaller roles, but is Gen X’ers know her as Princess Vespa from Spaceballs.
The young couple walking together then on the blanket in from of the screen is Johnny Galecki and Natasha Gregson Wagner. Johnny was Russ in Christmas Vacation, David in Roseanne and of course Leonard in Big Bang Theory. Natasha had some small roles, mostly in obscure movies. Her mom was Natalie Wood and her father was Richard Gregson. Shortly after she was born her parents divorced and her mom married Robert Wagner again. He didn’t adopt Natasha, but they had a strong relationship and she took his name.
    Sorry…I’m a nerd.
    Cheers!

But yeah seger has 3 phases 68-73 raw rock almost acid rock at times. Great stoner music! 74-80 is the best of the best that goes up against any music of any time! Just pure what rock is all about!! 83- 2022 is all really great stuff but seger experimented a bit and mixed in some different sounds with the rock. Still producing tons of really great songs within that time! 1 of the very best song Writers! Performers! Singers! And from meeting him a few times he is also a really great human being!

All of his songs tell a story, and it's usually one most of us can relate to. He's authentic and sings from the heart about life experiences and feelings we all have. He's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a reason. I saw him in concert in Detroit in the early '80s and it was awesome start to finish. As someone said below, he doesn't have a bad song, so you can't go wrong. But if you're looking for others to review I've always liked "Roll Me Away" and "Hollywood Nights."

Hearing it now takes me back to many, many Saturday nights at the local drive in. Turn A Page (later covered by Metallica) is another favorite. I remember when the song came out. I was a senior in college in 1976 working at the radio station on campus, and I played the song on my show. A few months later, I was in the production studio, working on my night moves to this song with a crush that I'll never forget. I remember driving across country in 1978 and hearing it again, months after the break-up. I totally lost it. I had to pull off the road and listen. Bob's a great storyteller. Nostalgia comes from the greek nostos (return) and algos (pain). It is the pain or suffering that comes from wanting to return home. He is remembering the past and this girl he claims he had no love for ("we weren't in love -- oh no, far from it"). It was summertime, the summer of his youth. They spend the summer together "practicing" their "night moves," but go their own ways at the end.
The "thunder" was the protagonist as an adult ("with autumn closing in") remembering this time, and realizing how much he really felt for the girl. All he has now is this pain of remembrance.
The song is so beautifully written and performed, and it has brought tears to my eyes upon hearing it since 1976.

Bob Seger is known as the Detroit Boy that is one of the best story tellers and reflects upon life in many ways. Plenty of Bob Seger to listen to from 2 + 2, Night Moves; Running Against the Wind; Like a Rock; Shamed by the Moon; Turn the Page; Just Roll With it ; You'll Accompany Me; and Main Street to name just a few.

Not from a film, and from the mid 1970s, not the 90s. Much of Bob Seger's music is nostalgic in nature. Heck, he's been making me feel nostalgic since I was about 17 -far too young to feel nostalgic and nearly 50 years ago. He just has had a magic way of passing along the nostalgia for the lives he remembers, and allowing us to share in those feelings, and insert our own memories into the feelings.

Yeah! 1962! Oh those drive in movies, look at my girl and say… “Let’s see how fast we can steam up the windows”

This song was not written for a film, and as you noted, what sounds like a simple song about young love (or lust) actually becomes very poignant at the end, with autumn closing in. Nice reaction, you've got a new subscriber.

Love the song (1976) and hate the video (1994). The song perfectly engages our memories. And it is doubtful that any video can compete with ones memories. This video seems to be mainly nostalgia for drive-in movie theaters: sneaking in, flirting, sex in cars. It’s Weekend at Porky’s meets Friends. There is no sense of years passing, perspective changing, the bittersweet remembering. Maybe the clips of Bob playing the guitar were supposed to.

Bob Seger is a great story teller. Try "fire lake" or "Like a rock" next, just found your channel , keep listening to great music and love your reaction :)

Or roll me away, main street, turn the page. I first listened to Bob in 1976 as a young 14 year old. How time flys.

    THE FIRE DOWN BELOW,
    LIKE A ROCK,
and TURN THE PAGE are great songs by Bob Seger to listen and react to. Your intro is fine, your outro is fine. Just remember to never pause during a guitar solo, maybe before or after, but never during. It is considered disrespectful to the player to interrupt. I remember thus dong on the 7o's when it first came out. I was happy when the video was added in the 9o's as a re-release to a new audience. Keep it going and enjoy.

Okay so I'm just watching your video now of night moves and you ask if it has been used in a movie ....long ago there was an animated movie called American Pop and the hero of the movie goes into a studio and starts singing Night Moves and all the guys in the control booth start freaking out because they know that it is a hit song.....I'm sure if I look hard enough on UA-cam there is a snippet of it somewhere, but yes Bob Seger's music gets used in soundtracks a lot, most recently in the Jennifer Lawrence movie NO Hard Feelings where they use a song called You'll accompany Me during the end credits!
