To every creator, don't give up! You never know if the next video you publish or one of your old ones gets pushed into the algorithm. 🔥This video is a goldmine for small channels like mine, feeling a bit stuck in 2024. Your breakdown of the stages of a UA-cam channel's growth, coupled with the latest strategies, is exactly what I needed. The emphasis on getting discovered and focusing on intriguing thumbnails over detailed tags is a massive shift in strategy. I'm definitely going to start making two thumbnails per video and experiment with length and authenticity in my content. The insights on community engagement through the community tab were eye-opening too! This is the roadmap to unstuck my channel and I'm ready to roll with it! 🌟🚀
I've been posting videos for almost 2 years now, and there have been times when I didn't post anything for 3 months. For those small content creators like me who think they're not getting anywhere despite the efforts and hard work, keep going, never give up! keep getting better and keep moving forward! Here's my cheers to you, thanks! ❤
Great video, I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. Otherwise, you are going to be far behind everyone else, and eventually quit. Even though I am not beginner anymore, I know how hard it could be (and if I haven't used a lot of Famester, I would have quit my journey a long time ago as well). It made everything much more easier, especially getting over subs and views requirements to get monetized.
Insightful tips! I've been focusing on making my thumbnails simpler so they are easily understood. Also, the shift from relying solely on subscribers to prioritizing browse and suggested traffic makes a lot of sense and thats what I'm trying to focus on. Excited to implement these strategies and see how they impact my channel's growth! 🚀
I got very low impressions and very low views. I already posted 4 videos and 3 shorts and only got 67 views in total. About 200 impressions in total. Why so low?
For the longest time I thought subs was the way to grow, then I realised with personally around 2200 subs and generally far far less views, subs don't really matter so much, which makes sense over the years I've watched so many channels in my field and subscribed to them all yet in reality I only regularly watch a chosen few. I have one video that has gone really well over 58k views but from that only 95 folk subscribed, man if only they hit that sub button.....would it make that much difference? I really have no idea, generally no idea about much at all to be fair.
Rhett and Link have been doing the authenticity - "just sit and hit record" thing for 12 years lol. It's a pretty good strategy and they're living proof. Definitely tricky to get right though... thanks for expanding on this framework a bit!
Here's a question for you... my rpm tanked when I used google advertising to promote a video. I began the campaign on Jan 7th, and my rpm was $6.29, the next day it dropped to $1.45 then down to .43 cents and now it's .52 cents. What in the world? Are they taking their payment from my rpm or something? I have never seen this happen before.
I believe I can make it this year 💪 this is my second channel and I make challenge type of videos with voices whereas in my main channel I make all bosses with no voice at all, what I need to learn is make good script and I bet i can do it this year 😊
Community tab posts are only powerful when they're SEEN. There's still a battle to get impressions for our Community posts. It's not directly within our control.
36 million impressions with community posts ..that's awesome...I never gave much thought to it before...I am going to use them now...I think it won't take much time as you can schedule posts .🤗
You touched upon it... and I had a conversation with YT a few weeks ago. What matters is the META data. What is that? It's a combination of the title, description, tags, what classification you give the video (for example depictions of violence if it is a war history video) AND the thumbnail. These I believe are being looked at both by human and AI on their end. I also believe that if anyone submits a complaint it will equally affect the channel because a person will then look at the META data manually and decide to demonetize or throttle back the content (and yes they do that through various ways like simply not letting it get out to similar viewers). So it is the META data. Tags may only play a small part, but it is important what your title says and what description you have.
Just started my UA-cam channel and honestly this video really helped me. I wouldn’t say I’m stuck it’s just I don’t have that many videos out nor I don’t got really any subs nor views on my UA-cam videos 😅 but I’m trying my best
This related shorts can be really powerful. An idea many creators aren't really talking about is using the related feature to do affiliae marketing. Link the short to an unlisted video showing off a product or service, niche related of course, and getting tons of clicks on your affiliate links. All you would have to worry about is making a short go viral. Im currently trying this out and I have everything in place except the viral short. But Im still working on that.

I like the part of "clickbait FIESTA" that is the most thing that is makling me angry when I see that. I dream of a day when "clickbait FIESTA" will be gone and who ever will still be doing it will simply be punished. sorry for this rant but there are so many of these bad actors out there. @Rob you are our true mentor thank you for your commitment and always decent advise 🙏
I tried shorts 3 times, I didn't like the process I don't watch tiktok or shorts on here I prefer longer form content. Not sure if I'll try shorts again, one thing I'm definitely doing from now on though is making my content tighter no more faff that doesn't need to be in there, I want to keep my vids short and sharp from now on. The community tab suggestion is good I like the idea I did a few community posts a while ago and the community ignored me haha might be a hint there. Keep at it creators no surrender.

Ive found one of the hardest things so far is getting stuck into video habits even though you can see it isnt making much progress from the channel. Long time viewer, first time commentor. Great video as always. But if you're taking suggestions for video ideas, I would like to suggest something about the contrast between the likes of gaming channels who can upload lots of videos every week, and other types of channels (animation, travel, ect) that can take maybe two weeks to a month to just produce one video. That's the issue I'm thinking about at the moment with my own channel. Recently, I've been doing one video a month, but I'm going to be bumping that up to two a month this year. My problem is, because of the nature of my channel, my videos take quite a while to produce; pick a historical site to visit, go there and record (normally for over half an hour), write a script (which is basically a history paper), edit, make thumbnails, ect. I'm worried that it may have an effect on the growth of my channel, especially in the beginning if viewers are not willing to wait around for two weeks at a time to watch my videos, especially if they aren't that familiar with my channel. I apologies for the long message, but if you could heart so I know you've seen it, I would really appreciate it. Always enjoy the content and I'm looking forward to the next one :)
Been uploading consistently for the last 2 weeks and am noticing good growth but I used to upload way back in like 2016 and the game has changed so much. What I got going on now though is working but its harder. Good luck everyone...
A brilliant video! I watched twice and made notes. I’m making several of these mistakes so I’ll be implementing a few systems to make sure I don’t in future. Just one question though (which I doubt will get answered but I’ll try anyway!): You recommend targeting Browse and Suggested instead of Search. How exactly do you do that and differentiate the two?
Great video, and nice Upgrade on AI thumbnail. but how do you create your thumbnail looking like that, I want that to be my next upgrade for my channel.

I used a low competition keyword in my title and tags and I had to scroll down for 1 minute and 21 seconds to find my video. There was only 1 other video that had the same keyword in the title. What good is a good thumbnail if nobody sees it? Nobody is going to scroll for 1 minute and 21 seconds to find my video. I feel like giving up and it seems like I'm just wasting my time. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for all the great, helpful advice. As longtime writers (and people who cover movies, where the use of AI was a huge reason behind the recent writers' strike), we're sorta squishy about AI. But as you say, it isn't going anywhere, so maybe we can harness its power for good!

I'm addicted to these vidIQ videos!! Grateful that they are out there. I love the whole video, but I also love 10:29 when you talk about authenticity, which I'm currently working on. 13:40 I was laughing at this so much lol!! Thanks for the helpful tips and thoughts. :-)
Wow I was looking at playlists and this just popped up in a new playlist 😂 "14s ago"
Watching from kenya 🇰🇪 and this advice is worthy to me as a beginner ❤❤❤

Generally speaking what tools are needed to make a thumbnail like that? It’s awesome
Thanks for all the great, helpful advice. As longtime writers (and people who cover movies, where the use of AI was a huge reason behind the recent writers' strike), we're sorta squishy about AI. But as you say, it isn't going anywhere, so maybe we can harness its power for good!
Fantastic advice here! Took some notes to go forward!
