UA-cam has been a beautiful platform to connect with like-minded souls, and I'm so thankful for the sense of belonging it brings. I've been seeking out new connections, finding those who resonate with my essence. When my husband asked me to start a UA-cam channel, I told him there was no way anyone would want to see a 48 year old woman’s ideas on inexpensive fashion, but I guess I was wrong. It’s been like 36 days and I have almost 700 subscribers. Who would have thought. I will be watching for more insight, as I am still learning. God bless!
@@GrandWalkingTours Don't feel bad man, I thought I would never get past 30, but I never gave up. I continued to work hard and now I have 463 subscribers. Keep working hard and eventually you will get there, these things take time.

There'll always be ppl that are better. It's an unfair comparison though. They've already climbed the mountain. Speed comes with time and practice. Focus on quality and improving on yesterday over comparing to the top performers. I say this with love, as an artist of 15 years that has felt exactly the same way earlier in my career... And even occasionally to this day 😅

You are walking the walk! One thing that makes this video useful to me is that you went beyond just saying, "You must do the research." I've read and watched videos of gurus giving that advice without saying HOW they do their research. Thanks for giving us a solid, simple, understandable example. As I'm sure you know, we just want something that we can apply and we don't have time to figure it out from scratch.
I think the single biggest roadblock to potential success, is stopping short of your goals. Don't give up, you literally can not fail at this if you give 100% effort from your true self. I could have had a million subscribers by now if I hadn't given up 10 years ago. I'm back at it now and NEVER GIVING UP 🔥
I've seen a bunch of similar videos, but yours went far beyond those. You didn't just say "Research your niche" with a bit of talk about how that's good to do. You showed us HOW TO DO IT. Thanks so much for that and more.
Yes, but it’s SOOOOO annoying. UA-cam will have you believe that out of 3 billion YT users (2023) ONLY 15 or 20 of them even LOOKED at your content. I’ve seen otherwise in reality. I’ve simply had a video playing on my phone while in line at the store and I see several folks asking what I’m watching and can they watch. We KNOW it’s UA-cam “funneling” the views. You really notice it as time passes. The less bottlenecking YT does, the more viewers are able to see content, and then more possibilities to have them like or interact. Rarely am I so moved by a video that I hit the like button, no matter how good it is. I’ll subscribe and save to favorites, and possibly comment. So I don’t look at likes as highly as basic exposure.
just a quick overview of your videos shows you should be doing Aliexpress restorations. Why are you not doing more of that kind of content? They 50x your avarage viewcount..
This is accurate. (You are one video away) On my first channel, I had below 100 views per video, for every video...then, BAM: 25K views! UA-cam is very much like a lottery. The more quality videos you put out, the more chances you have of a video "going viral"
I got 700k subs in the span of 9 months, what is most important is to make the video engaging, entertaining for the viewers to watch, the amount of time you spend on making a video does not matter, what matters is that it is entertaining
I've come across channels with hardly any subscribers that have been posting every single day for like 6 years and their content isn't even that bad. UA-cam just never recommends them to anyone. And it's really heartbreaking going through these peoples channels and some of them starting off their video with "Hey guys" when no one is even watching. UA-cam's "algorithm" is so flawed it's sickening, it has killed my channel and I have zero idea how to revive it.
@@JWVLL I'm more or less in the same boat. It happened out of nowhere about 2 weeks ago. All of the sudden, people just stopped watching. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong so I can improve.
What this video doesn't talk about is how while it might seem sensible to produce videos that're solely data driven, there are many creators that don't solely rely on any of this. A viewer might become an avid supporter of a channel simply because of THE individual. And that's it. Viewers might like a creators personality/mannerisms which is something that can't be measured.. This is why you'll have channels where no matter what they upload they'll get views regardless. In this particular instance I highly doubt creators are looking at things like competitors or data. I've seen content that has the most arbitrary titles, thumbnails and topics and yet viewers still manage to enjoy the content and stick around. It's not all about numbers. Just wish people would talk about that more.
This is true but for 99% of people here using this video who run a channel. Your personality doesn't matter in terms of click through rate. Retention yes. But click through no. Majority of people here have issues getting good click through rate. They haven't even gotten to the point of needing to develop their retention. Click through rate comes first THEN RETENTION
Majority of those channels who are personality driven and it doesn't matter what they upload are people like penguinz0 These people started UA-cam at a much simpler time with far less competition and lower standard of quality combined with booming charisma in one shape or form. Even if it's through comedy or roasting. These days...THERE IS NO SHORT of creators both high and low quality. THERE IS A SURPLUS and dare I say it's oversatursated with talentless and talented UA-camrs. 99.9% people are going to need ALOT MORE than just personality. LUCK will be a necessity aswell as CONTACTS, influencers who can help you, growing side by side with you IN THE SAME NICHE or in a RELATED NICHE & the social skills to befriend them and NOT RUIN your relationship by leaving them in the dust OR BEING LEFT in the dust by them because people only help those out who can prove worth their time. Time is money and most people will only give you the time as long as they can make back the money..Even "friends" especially on UA-cam when those "friends" are competitors. Luck doesn't exist but there is so many factors in the AI/algorithm + audience & basic psychology on a mass scale that no one can account for all factors. It's humanely impossible. Luck MIGHT ASWELL exist
I agree, this video’s too analytical. It isn’t discussing the HEART of the content but rather the statistics of it. Obviously stuff like that matters, but that’s legitimately all this video’s about 😭
Best advice and “strategy” Be consistent. Start small. You can’t be consistent if you take on too much and if you try to perfect everything in the beginning. Also quality content is obviously going to win! I can’t stress that enough!
I just started my UA-cam channel with zero knowledge about anything, not even how to edit. But I've learnt a new thing everyday for the past few days since I started. I'm really grateful that people like you exist on this space. I already jotted down the procedures, I don't have the funds now to pay for anything, I'll take my time to do it manually and hopefully I'll grow to the point I can pay for these tools, it'll be my journey to success.
We are in the same boat ....I started a month ago .... because of unemployment and the passion to save the kids of the world and help parents raise happy kids...but when it comes to editing and everything like that it's hard I take it day by day.... learning one thing at a time💕💕💕💯let's keep on pushing
The amount of effort you put in this video to explain the type of research that is needed, is commendable. Thank you for this video. I have a channel that is basically based on shorts, with very little long form content on sport (cricket), but I can still get a very good understanding of how to approach towards things. Your videos deserve more views, and I really hope they get. Best wishes
Finding and staying consistent with a niche is one of the biggest challenges imo. You really “should” enjoy the niche. It helps making content more fullfilling rather than feeling incomplete or having to constantly reset mentally to figure out what to post next
Most of the channels that talk about channel growth really don't go this far into detail. I really appreciate you showing us your method to research and giving us a tool that could help us grow. You also talked about the why you were doing each step which really has me inspired to put in that extra effort to learn from other channels to help my own grow! Thanks for an awesome detailed video!

Been doing UA-cam for about 2 years and am pretty clear of what I want my channel to be but am just being crush by bigger channels. I feel like it’s more important to enjoy the content you do otherwise you will go crazy cause YT is so crowded that smaller channels could possibly never get noticed😢
@@AnkyTrike Absolutely brotha! I always look around for channels to support. Just trying to grow and its been very difficult, almost quite earlier this year. Try to always promote smaller channels too.
i'm on my 4th channel, just started posting to this one 2 days ago with a clear niche and a plan, already got 15 subs with no advertising, and both videos have 30 to 40 plays each. my other larger channel is a dud because i had a clear niche but i fucked that up big time by trying different things, so if the last 3 channels built up with no clear niche i am very excited to see what this one does with a clear niche and mission. thank you for making this video (it tells me im on the right track and had some pointers i appreciate)
i just recently started caring about my youtube channel, confused before on why i'm not growing at a faster rate...you simply have to play the game, ESPIECIALLY as a smaller creator. research goes a long way, "being consistent" doesn't get you anywhere. great video, reinforces my new "growth" mentality 🙌
It's clear that you put so much effort and heart into your content, and it truly shines through. Keep doing what you love, and trust me, the audience will come.
I personally enjoy these type of videos the most not only is it just a very good way of coming up with ideas and looking at data but the way you break it down and show how to actually do it successfully is super helpful! More like this!
About a month ago, i had around 20 subs, since then ive almost breached 100, every second of content like this helps us smaller creators and we all highly appreciate it, keep doing you, youre doing fantastic
I have deleted everything and started again, but now.. it definitely feels harder. It's almost like people have limited likes, attention span has shortened drastically so the editing styles need to reflect this. My videos were once good, now I probably need to hire a better editor than myself. Keep up the great work, your videos absolutely ROCK!
So true! on this old channel of mine I somehow managed to get 1k subscribers even though I don't really post. I've recently started a new channel and I'm really struggling with views and subscribers... UA-cam isn't as easy as it used to be
@@pia_mater I feel like i have been penalised for deleting everything. Two video's of mine had millions of views, but as we have grown, portrayed the wrong message so i deleted them (along with everything else).

That's my goal woth the series I began. I have 3 videos live, 7 scheduled to be published, and 6 will get their final edits this week. I can definitely tell my quality, voice over, and confidence increasing with each video. I doubt they will go 'viral' but I am really enjoying myself. Loving the vids! Been listening to them while I record long grinds in WoW

Yes, you're correct. For me, I know I've strayed. Probably because the channels I wanted to do, youtube either deleted, copyrighted, and /or banned my stuff. So, I decided to just focus on one thing. The thing is their are so many channels that do Jerusalem stuff and there is so much to show. Now my videos vary from touris crap to local music stuff. In the end the reality is that no one even really understands what I'm really showing them. Finally, these days folks want things that are loud, stupid, silly, mindless etc. That's not me. In fact, to your credit, the reason I'm watching and listening to you is not just because you make sense, but because you have a nice, calm, pleasant and reasonable manner of delivery. I'm tired of crazy people yelling at me.
“I’m tired of crazy people yelling at me” 😂 You might be surprised how many people there are who feel the same! I love the calmer more slow paced videos
You got to trigger the monkey brain man flashing lights loud voice and keep it simple. What people want is more stupid than you think. No matter why Logan Pauls talking about his balls get more views than something important that makes you learn something.
Not sure if it affects the algorithm negatively but I don't think those hashtags in your video's look very good or serve a purpose for that matter. Keep up your work though, good luck!
Same. I recently escaped my abusers and have created a channel to tell my story and raise awareness and help others. I really want to reach as many people I can to actually be able to make a difference 💕
I really was one video away ... I spent a year my videos didn't pass the 2K threshold, and after one video that was successful, all my past good videos started to pick up and then I continued to post videos like the one that went viral and in 6 months I have my silver play button ❤️❤
Thank you for this detailed how to video! I especially liked when you talked about not guessing on our best competitor videos but relying on the data to tell us that information!
I really love how you said “you gotta do research” but actually defined what that meant. So many people say “do research” and never clarify. Love this vid
This past July, I only recently started ramping up efforts to get my channel to grow more, after eight years of struggling. I ain't stoppin' any time soon, but at some point, something's gotta give.
I feel like I’m being consistent with like 10 uploads a week between shorts and normal vids, while posting the same type, yet I feel my videos aren’t being recommended enough I feel
You don't have an upload frequency problem. More uploads won't cut it. In fact, if you just do half the amount of uploads you're doing now but really dive into the research like I show you in this video, I'd be willing to bet you'll get much better results.

Trying to make my first video but I feel awkward talking to myself knowing it’s being recorded. Plus my mic quality is awful. Instantly feel like it’s a failure but I’m going to go through with it anyway & try build the confidence! Good luck to everyone else too !
Trust me, there is somebody out there who’s mic is probably much worse! Lol! Also, you aren’t talking to yourself! You are talking to YOUR (future) AUDIENCE! You could look into streaming, that helped me get over the bump at first. If you’d like, I can send some viewers your way to make it less awkward for you! Just let me know!
Super late reply but I love you both for the boost of confidence & kind words! I’ve been doing bits here & there on another channel & each video one after another it does get a *LITTLE* bit easier for me to talk out loud! I wish you all the best !
It totally gets easier 💚 good luck to your channel! My first video was super hard to record but even at the second video I found myself talking with more ease
Hey everyone! I’m a UA-camr with 14.1k right now, and I can try give some tips! 1. It took me over a year to get a video 500k+! Be patient and follow trends when the trend is related to your content. 2. Sometimes, older videos randomly go really well! Be patient :) 3. Use hashtags that relate to your content, more than hashtags that are widely used! You’ve got this everyone! I believe in you 🫶🏼
Just to point out, you don't have to go through and manually delete lines from a spreadsheet you don't want, based on the example you used. Instead, you can filter lines to only include lines that meet specified criteria, and then sort the remaining lines.
I came here for help growing my channel as I’m sure most of us are. Thank you for taking time to show us step by step. Very informative, and I’ll report back with the results.
I just started my youtube channel and im taking the simple approach not editing my videos at all just doing raw uncut footage because i dont know how to edit yet and the type of content im making doesn't really require editing or at least not much anyway but I'm really enjoying it I'm happy with the content I've been able to create so far with my limited knowledge :)
I've found through video after video, comment after comment, it's consistancy, knowing your audience (who you want your target audience to be, for example: the first couple of seconds can be "Do you like Minecraft?! then this video is for you!') and repeat that concept but altar it so the viewers know that no 2 videos will be the same. Times will get boring, times will also feel like your doing it for absolutely nothing, but theres always light at the end of the tunnel, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day you'll be the next big thing :)
It is so cool, to see other smaller Creators, with all their passion. I am animating a series right now, so it takes forever to make a new Episode, but I try to keep going. We all can do it :D Just don't give up!
I've cracked the code. I think...Started about 2 months ago, and my channel has grown to almost 10k subscribers and over 3 million views🤯. Great advice👍🏾 I'm just trying to figure out what's next for generating revenue other than UA-cam monetization 🤔
I just hit 5k views in total,I know its less compared so alot of people who gets 100000x on a single video,But I'm really happy for this Wish me luck guys
Thanks so much for your valuable tips! I’ve already gained 23 subscribers thanks to your advice. Can’t wait to keep growing and learning more from your content!
I don't have a specific niche. My channel is just supposed to be the account I use to watch youtube but, at the same time, the channel I post my videos in. I don't want to "hack" the algorithm or be super competitive, I just want to let it grow naturally.
This is actually the best and most clear explanation i´ve heard so far. Thanks man. Trying grow bigger and I have a fantastic audience and community so far, to whom I am super grateful, but my reach isn´t all that far. Thanks for the tips.
This is the content I need right here. I used to make these mistakes until I split into 3 separate channels. Makes it a bit easier to stay in a niche, but still be diverse in content creation. Also, as an App Designer myself Velio really gave a great perspective for content and what direction I wanted to go. Still trying to get views, but I followed you so far and got 2 new extra views on my stuff. City boys are up.
i have started my journey a little over 2 months ago , things i would like to share 1. enjoy the process and dont feel low if a video doesnt get a good response , as it helps you to avoid mistakes and do better 2. play with the editing software thats how i started editing too, especially if you are an editor 3. dont start to expect the video to suddenly blow up, i had 4 channels before this all of them collectively had 170 subs but i can confirm it takes time to get the hang of it good luck in your journey :)
This was an exceptional video to streamline competitor research. You gave me so much to work with AND I'm even seeing trends in the performance of my own videos from analyzing competitors. Thank you! You've gained a sub. :)
Dude! The spreadsheet math of views per like is such a pro move. It's like God tier level idea for "researching" studying for ideas of things that work to create things people care to watch. Thank you. I'm stuck on the niche piece though lol because I have too many things I enjoy doing and filming. A friend once told me that my family IS the content, so that's why we've switched to WeWynne. My wife just had ACL surgery yesterday. So that's where we are currently. Thanks for the ideas though! Good luck to everyone else!
I am doing this kind of Spreadsheet analysis every now and then. Mostly to benchmark my own videos compared to my outliers. Next time I will do something similar with my competitor videos
Awesome video! Guys, this video is a gold mine of informations, I've watched it all the way through. Also, I'll point out the fact that through your "competitors", this is actually how I got recommended your channel, Marcus. I've been subscribed to Finzar and Film Booth before yours, so is it correct to say that your competitors can also be your allies in a way?
It's so hard to grow. Like, unimaginable hard. Spending hours and hours and HOURS into perfecting a video and yet not it getting any views at all is really demoralizing.
Don’t create for others entertainment. Create for yourself. Film whatever it is like you wish someone else did that you could enjoy. If it’s about finance do it in a way that you would like to see, if it’s about cooking etc.. Humans are all different but creepily similar. There are literally millions of people who WILL like WHAT YOU LIKE. Create for you and they Will follow.
I have set myself target for two years - in this period I will make as much video as I can and then assess. Remember the journey at the start is hard so be patient 😊
This is a really great video! From what I have seen on youtube its okay to spread out a bit as long as it makes sense for your content and audience (like reviews and fitness instructor videos) Also I wont feel bad for my 20-30 views for a period of time, when some are struggling with only 2-3 views for 3month :O I always feel bad when I pick topics other people have made. But I guess its like that episode from south park where Professor Chaos is frustrated that the Simpsons did all his evil plans xD We cant really get over the fact that most topics have been made already
I would take a different view about picking topics others have already done. If you have a unique take or some way to put your own flare on the topic, for viewers it can be nice to get different opinions on a subject they're interested in.

Thanks. no way i was sitting through this video lol

It really is about enjoying the process - there's no feeling like coming up with an idea, hunting down the shots, editing, and releasing a final product. I find so much joy in the creative process!
me too i think is really amused
If you’re making videos that you enjoy doing, it won’t seem like you’re doing too much work. And that makes it a lot better 😌
Couldn’t have said it any better 💯🔥
You can't make videos that you enjoy doing. You have to make videos that others will enjoy watching. Otherwise you won't get very far.

I'm back at it now and NEVER GIVING UP 🔥
I believe in you! Yes never give up no matter what.
I've seen a bunch of similar videos, but yours went far beyond those. You didn't just say "Research your niche" with a bit of talk about how that's good to do. You showed us HOW TO DO IT. Thanks so much for that and more.
It's hard not to get a bit disapointed when your content doesn't get views but don't give up. Consistency is key. We can do this everyone!
You can do it!
So true I do get disappointed sometimes though
@@voidsenpai6102 You're 1 subscriber closer. You got this!!
@@voidsenpai6102 disapointment is my best friend. Apparently LOL

This is accurate. (You are one video away) On my first channel, I had below 100 views per video, for every video...then, BAM: 25K views! UA-cam is very much like a lottery. The more quality videos you put out, the more chances you have of a video "going viral"

@@JWVLL oh god you're scaring me there must be a reason? cause if there's not we are doomed
Rome was not built in a day 🤔
@@JWVLL I'm more or less in the same boat.
Majority of those channels who are personality driven and it doesn't matter what they upload are people like penguinz0
These people started UA-cam at a much simpler time with far less competition and lower standard of quality combined with booming charisma in one shape or form.
Obviously stuff like that matters, but that’s legitimately all this video’s about 😭
a great example of this is Wade nixon, who runs DankPods and a bunch of other channels.
the click rate only works with those subscribed or know the channel, for new viewers or people who don't watch the channel that much, not so much
Best advice and “strategy” Be consistent.
Same 💪
We are in the same boat ....I started a month ago .... because of unemployment and the passion to save the kids of the world and help parents raise happy kids...but when it comes to editing and everything like that it's hard I take it day by day.... learning one thing at a time💕💕💕💯let's keep on pushing

Ive always had a problem with this. I try UA-cam every year but I always give up after a few months after I get tired of the content I’m making :/
Most of the channels that talk about channel growth really don't go this far into detail. I really appreciate you showing us your method to research and giving us a tool that could help us grow. I started this channel last month and got more views (ignoring coin master) on videos than i did back on my channel i started in 2009 🤣
i just recently started caring about my youtube channel, confused before on why i'm not growing at a faster rate...you simply have to play the game, ESPIECIALLY as a smaller creator. research goes a long way, "being consistent" doesn't get you anywhere. great video, reinforces my new "growth" mentality 🙌

They are not competing for content, your just another creator who can help push eachother up. Not compete for a title
I really love how you said “you gotta do research” but actually defined what that meant. So many people say “do research” and never clarify. Love this vid
My mindset is to just enjoy what I’m doing and what I’m putting out! That’s what keeps me going

Thank you I’ll keep this in mind when posting I rlly hope my channel does well!
Keep making video's that you guys enjoy making, never give up! You're audience will find you eventually. Lets do this!

I don't have a specific niche. My channel is just supposed to be the account I use to watch youtube but, at the same time, the channel I post my videos in. I don't want to "hack" the algorithm or be super competitive, I just want to let it grow naturally.

Also, I'll point out the fact that through your "competitors", this is actually how I got recommended your channel, Marcus.
I've been subscribed to Finzar and Film Booth before yours, so is it correct to say that your competitors can also be your allies in a way?
For sure, there are pros and cons to having competitors.
😀😀Dear digital creator: Keep posting oooo, one day the UA-cam algorithm will be in your favor😘😘
Create for you and they
Will follow.

It can defnately be tough for lall the small channels out there, but keep pushing
This is a really great video! From what I have seen on youtube its okay to spread out a bit as long as it makes sense for your content and audience (like reviews and fitness instructor videos)
Also I wont feel bad for my 20-30 views for a period of time, when some are struggling with only 2-3 views for 3month :O
I always feel bad when I pick topics other people have made.
But I guess its like that episode from south park where Professor Chaos is frustrated that the Simpsons did all his evil plans xD We cant really get over the fact that most topics have been made already
m.ua-cam.com/video/sb9BGqSz7xA/v-deo.html
I would take a different view about picking topics others have already done. If you have a unique take or some way to put your own flare on the topic, for viewers it can be nice to get different opinions on a subject they're interested in.
