    1.Started my channel late 2021 made like 15 videos. 2020 I made like 120 videos. All in all, my total watchtime from a year plus of making vids and posting consistently every 2 or 3 days was 19k total views and 700 hours of lifetime watch hours. I almost gave up multiple times, but I always asked myself what would I do if I stopped UA-cam, you're just putting your opinion out there. That's what kept me going. February 2023 I had a video do 300k views as at the time of commenting and another about to do 100k. 2 videos gave me watchtime and subs I didn't have in a year plus of making content. Do not give up. You never know when your big break will come. Find a content you enjoy making and do it. 5 cheersK

    2:06 my biggest rookie mistake. Improving my thumbnails and doing keyword research (as well as scripting my videos ) made an immediate, long lasting impact on my channel. simplifying my thumbnails was another thing. Stop overthinking it!

      @@Theeinsom sorry if it is late enough but one of my videos recently went viral from the day I uploaded. In the video I showed how Halo Infinite can't run in low end laptops. In the thumbnail, well it's very oversimplified. I just took the screenshot of the error I got, zoomed in a lot so that only the error gets in focus and in center and not the other things like desktop icons or taskbar. Finally I put an angry meme png image in the left side. So yeah, overall it's an error message with meme face only but still it's views are increasing second by second every time. Yesterday it was 400 something but today the views are 508.

    I really enjoyed watching this. I was making the channel intro mistake but stopped it a while back but now i have also learnt that i should keep the introduction of myself till later and focus on why they clicked for the first 30 seconds. So many amazing pointers. I will start working on my thumbnails and title more, and spending quality time on it. Thank you.

  • @JohnnyB.
    @JohnnyB. 3 роки тому +205

    What I've learned is I feel there is some secret formula to these titles and thumbnails...Big text (less than 3 words), something eye-catching to go along with the text that makes you wonder... certain thumbnails I post just naturally do better, and I've learned to create almost all of my thumbnails in that similar way and now most of the videos do pretty well. There's definitely a trick to thumbnails that is learned with time!

    • @szushycats
      @szushycats 3 роки тому +7

      Netflix’s data said that there is 2 huge factor to their thumbnails for shows. 1 is faces with emotion, 2 is having maximum 3 main subject on the thumbnail. I looked at your thumbnails and I think yours look like they use the second factor :D
      Btw I think the red cars and colour makes your thumbnails kind of uniq and more recognisable (as my first impression)
      What do you think of my observation? :)

    Recently my channel has been dropping on views a lot, and I decided to check this video out to see what I was doing wrong. And you actually pointed out a few things I do which are big mistakes.. taking 5 or less minutes to make a title and a thumbnail, because you get so tired from recording and editing a video (for hours usually), and spend little time on what is important!

    Yeah, I am trying to get better with my thumbnails. I think it’s because as a viewer, I look more at a title than a thumbnail. I need to put myself in the audience’s shoes. I did actually manage to hit the daily thumbnail limit you talked about in another video. I just changed one video’s thumbnail but uploaded two future scheduled videos and gave them thumbnails. However, once I tried to give a live stream a new thumbnail it wouldn’t let me until the next day, so I guess 3 is the limit. I never thought that would happen to me.

    As someone whos been doing UA-cam for 2 years on and off there are a couple things that I think are very important. Consistency is key, find yourself a schedule. I've found that biweekly or once a month is the sweet spot for video uploads but it could depend on your content and energy. Niche is definitely important; as much as you want to do what you want it could be oversaturated leading to low views and engagement. Uniqueness; just like the last point if there's nothing that shines in your content compared to everyone else doing the same genre then it will be endlessly harder to get noticed, this was one thing that worked for me as no person in my niche did content of my caliber and style in terms of quality. Thumbnails as said in the video are very important, I usually take a picture of whatever is in my video and try not to make clickbait. If you follow these tips and put good work into your videos I can assure you that growth will definitely come your way!

I barely script as my videos are quite casual and fun so I don't know how I would plan the game? I am assuming this third point might not apply to me, but I wonder how it might? thumbnails are definitely my least favourite part of making a video, i usually end up chucking something together in under a minute and hoping it’s enough. going to try doubling that time to a *massive* two minutes of work haha. grateful for the timing of this video as i’ve started so recently:)

      No Offense, but your thumbnails seem boring and bland, it makes me feel like I'm looking at thumbnails from 2014..which would've worked better then but it definitely doesn't now.
      What I suggest is spending your time in thumbnails and shoeing then to others for second opinions, maybe even watching a few videos on how to make a good thumbnail.

    The way I see it, you have to think of it as a journey for the viewer, as you mentioned, Rob, but between them first seeing the video thumbnail, going all the way to the moment they finish the entire video. Our goal as creators looking for growth should be to make that journey as easy as possible for the audience, and making it very simple to reach the end of that video for most viewers.
