Modern NHL has almost none of this intensity, competitive hatred, and passion. Modern NHL players all train together and are buddy buddy off the ice. They care more about their brand and pampered multimillion dollar lifestyle than their club and competing. Modern players are a product of kids that grew up playing AAA hockey from age 8, and the modern youth AAA player is more catered to and pampered than NHL players from the 80s and prior.
Yeah, I can't even watch the NHL anymore... no passion at all. These old regular season games in the 70/80/early 90s had more passion than NHL playoff games now.
Absolutely LOVE that Wendel got obliterated here by Eagles. Clark levelled more than his fair share of players with similar hits, so it’s a thing of beauty that he got spaghetti legs when he got to his feet and tried to skate away…
Actually it looked like shoulder to shoulder to me - the head was not the primary point of contact (however, back in those days it hardly would have mattered, LOL). But even by today's standards I think it's a clean it. Having said that, I'm today's refs would find some kind of made up infraction to call - Hitting Too Hard or some nonsense.
Shit kicked out of him. Kennedy had a broken nose and a cut over his left eye, clark had a small cut by his eye. Clark went to the box, kennedy went to the locker room for repairs.
Don't you just love Wendell Clark

Truer words were never spoken. And the NHL game is worse for it. 99% of NHL games are so boring now that I can't sit through the entire game.
Kennedy ate that first left like a champ. Dean was no pushover, good fight.
Good old time hockey.
Clark probably fighting with a concussion after the head hit.
And still broke the guys nose
This was the real NHL
Kennedy was a big tough kid, boy...
yeah he was and Clark left his face a bloody mess.... who left the game.... not good old Wendel...lol!!!!
@@liveclassictunes Clark had a nasty cut over his left eye, so both did some damage in this battle 👍
@@jscottrockford that was Kennedys nose blood on Clark's temple
Kennedy looked shaken
*Obvious headshot* Jim Hughson: "Ahh! That's hockey!"
5'11 and scared the ever living shit out of guys much bigger. I miss the heart.
It’s good thing today’s game doesn’t have any hitting or fighting or passion anymore
Or slu-footing, Elbowing, cheapshots, holding, hooking, slashing, butt ending, yeah it was a great game. Complete Garbage game!
@@ghytgb yup its Disney on ice now.
@@ghytgb it still has all of that. What time is your optometrist appointment?

@@neilm2794 no the game has changed and not for the better. Too soft too controlled
Any modern day NHLer would have taken that hit and been out a month. Eagles likely suspended also. The NHL game sucks now!
That hit now 5 game suspension
Head down. Beautiful! Got beat up for a clean hit
All I see is an elbow to the head ... Clark had to do what he had to do .
Wendel loved doing that (running over guys with their head down) to others. He took it well though.
Absolutely LOVE that Wendel got obliterated here by Eagles. Clark levelled more than his fair share of players with similar hits, so it’s a thing of beauty that he got spaghetti legs when he got to his feet and tried to skate away…
Eagles should have gotten a big suspension for that...or was head hunting allowed then?
Kennedy took him to the cleaners
Wow, that was a dirty elbow! Yikes! I remember the next day they interviewed Kennedy and he had TWO black eyes! I think Clark broke his nose.
Eagles had his arm at his side, Clark’s head was so far down it lined up with Eagles’ elbow.
Clark did break his nose...
Clark took that right on the bean. No call. Hockey sucks now
What goes around, comes around. Maybe not an altogether clean hit by Eagles but Clark threw a few questionable hits himself during his career.

Clark broke Dean Kennedy's nose in this one.... Dean had 2 black eyes the next day in an interview.
lol good
Clark was a great Devil so was Gilmour
Huh?
Nice to Clark get the shit kicked out of him!

Clark at this point was washed up wasn't he?
@@MrVictoria69 46 Goals in 64 games the following year. Highly doubt it
That is one disgusting helmet.
In these days. Wendell just a concussion and goes to fight right after….
