i disagree with hector big time i find it more heroic that superman is willing to sacrifice himself to a people who hate him it shows how heroic and selfless he is just like when he saved his bully from drowning in MOS
Now that you mention it, FUCKING YES! Despite what his father told him he more than didn't give a shit about opinions or secret identities when it came to saving people.
Tom of Steel I won't speak ill of the MCU as a whole but I really get peeved how everyone was hand jobbing Civil War despite obvious things that shouldn't be overlooked while dissecting BvS.
And I'm sure a lot of this stuff makes sense because comics so they're technically being true to the source, but as its own medium it shouldn't be ignored..... It's late, I'm ranting.
+SuperShanko Could you elaborate on what you didn't like with Civil War? I am a fan BvS: Theatrical Version. And I LOVE the Ultimate Cut. Captain America: Civil War I liked a lot...but had issues with.
Wayne Edwards These are ONLY nitpicks so bear with me because we're going into crazy town.
-Ross of all goddamn people telling Cap about being responsible after Inc. Hulk. Not to mention SHIELD firing that nuke at NY.
-Tony having Peter go out and fight alongside him knowing full well he's just a kid, especially one who doesn't know any of these people and has no personal stake in the fight, unlike Panther who's a grown ass man making this decision on his own accord. Granted he's still superpowered, he still could've been gravely hurt like when he accidentally got hit by Ant-Man. That's very irresponsible and stupid of Tony.
-Tony being a genius weapons expert and yet chose to physically fight Cap in the airport despite having a complete advantage to and having like 30 different completely non-lethal ways to nullify this crew of mostly non-supers or use your invulnerable super bot to sneak up and grab Bucky, fly off and basically win.
-Why was Ant-Man even there? I mean, I know why he was asked to join, but he too has no personal stake in any of this and just got off in his movie so he's going to throw that away despite having a hot new girlfriend, friends and a daughter.
-And this is something that rolls back to Av/MOS. It annoyed me how everyone was giving Superman shit over MOS despite having about the same premise with the Chitauri, and accusing him of not giving a shit about anyone while fighting Zod which is ironic given that he has a similar instance in the DOS comic with the person who ends up AS Doomsday, while the Avengers equally tore up everything. But as Zemo put it, at the end of the day, while Superman was screaming in anguish, they just "went home... to a diner for lunch" which is amusing and all but then to throw it back in their faces during that conference suddenly makes it like this big super smart pre-planned plot point while negating other factors for an overall theme of people getting pissed while BvS jumps right into it and makes a major reason for Batman to want to kill Superman. Yes, there's obvious things about Superman fighting to save his mother but in no way does that negate that Batman would've come after him regardless.
-And Rhodey being the obvious sacrificial lamb to parallel the comics of the black guy getting struck down with an energy beam by Tony's super bot fucking up in a suit I would imagine at this point should be made to protect the user from a simple fall while having been to shown to survive a fall via tank fire, impact from Thor's hammer, and many head on explosions.
-Cap physically overpowering Spiderman by pulling him, despite being obviously weaker than the kid who in the next scene caught like 5 tons with little effort. I get being bested in combat from skill, but surely not by might.
There's probably some others.
I think what he meant is that people in the WB doesn't care about the character Superman as much as they care about the character Batman. What I took from his perspective is exactly what Kevin Smith said and i.e., Snyder made this movie like he read only one comic book, which is " The Dark Knight Returns" and his favourite part is the last battle between Batman and Superman. There is inherent lack of ability to grasp the majesty of Superman as a character himself.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie in its theatrical cut form but what I was disheartened to see is that they didn't do justice with Superman which was also the major problem which stopped Man of Steel to become a masterpiece of a movie. Snyder got to show Superman his desperation to control his power to not hurt anyone, his balances, his calmness, his leadership and when he loses it, his aggression. He must understand that the character is brilliant in itself and scribed a intelligent backdrop for him to develop. He must let Henry to act and express more in the silver screen. Just explores his emotion and don't make him a log of wood.
I'm so tired of people thinking that if you love Marvel movies you can't also love the DC universe just as much. I love all of it and just want it to be good. It's that simple!
+Entertainment Glutton very, very vocal
If you are a massive comic book nerd you love both. It's how it is they're very different but also very similar and 90 percent of comic nerds like both dc and marvel
It makes up for a lot of the plot holes, hope DC continues to do better. Love Marvel and DC
Agree with you completely. I love DC and Marvel, but DC needs to step up their game in the movie universe
+JakeⓋ who you talking about?
no plot holes is worse than Jar Jar Bink Luthor and that ugly Cave Troll
+baal blade jar jar luthor ? Damn you're so clever
+JakeⓋ I've said Fuck Snyder, Goyer, Arad, and Singer. Get it right buddy.
Hector's point, and what he didn't like was the very point of the movie. The vocal people of the world are hating/scared/ect of Superman. I say vocal, cause just like trolls online, its the haters that are louder. This movie is solely about the whole Pulitzer prize article that Lois always gets "Does the World Need a Superman".
Superman sacrifice at the end is even more bitter sweet because of this. Even though the whole world seems to hate him, he is still willing to die for them. Much more powerful than a beloved character that everyone loves dying for them. This was a man who is constantly being told he is doing things wrong, hated on, questioned, ect and yet he still was willing to die for them.
That is a true hero.
Beautifully put.
Couldn't have said any better. Perfect.
Here, Superman is....THE SUPERMAN
You said that beautifully
well said sir couldn't have said it better my self
when he said he doesn't like that people shit or dont believe in the superman in this movie its like umm dude thats the entire point of the fucking movie they are tackling supes as if he existed in our world its like he wants his heroes to go through no struggle or development and just be a super hero who is beloved off the bat
Agreed!!!!
BVS could"ve reached a billion if WB had released the Ultimate cut in Theatres . Sigh
Why is it so wrong to like both DC and Marvel?
It's not, people just like to pick sides and slam the opposition even when it's unnecessary.
It isn't ! Some people just like to compare. They do things differently and both are needed to continue the genre known as the Comic Book Movie genre. Fox has most DEFINITELY stepped up w/ Deadpool also. Let's hope we have many more of these kinds of movies for years and years to come.
its not #lovedcandmarvel love both
No!😡 Never the two shall meet!! 😂😂just kidding. Seriously tho, it's totally okay to like them both. What matters is what you enjoy. 😎
Its not! I love them both! Such a magical time to be a nerd!
I love the Martha scene Batman's entire character arc in this film is about him becoming a hero again. When he hears Superman use (what he thinks is) his dying breath to beg him to save his mother, he finally sees that he has become the villain. It's not about their mothers having the same name. It's about Batman realizing that he is no different than the monster who killed his parents and created him. In throwing down the spear and saving Superman's mother, he also saves himself. Anyone who looks at that entire scene and sees nothing but a shitty Step Brothers meme, they wrote BvS off before it was even filmed. They already hated it because they didn't like Man of Steel, or they don't like Zack Snyder, or they don't like the idea of DC having their own Cinematic Universe. God forbid that a film actually have subtext instead of lame quips and long-winded explanations.
fero player Thank you for understanding the Martha scene and not making a joke of it like every MCU fan that simply did not understand it.
Having the DC universe I think was the coolest thing to happen!
And then proceeds to kill a dozen more goons at a warehouse
Damn can Zach Snyder get some love now I mean shit
+Darewin Ocampo give his okay he is a director with no final say he ain't James Cameron so he did what he was told. Honestly the movie was way better than the T.C and dats my opinion and I think some folks agree
+Darewin Ocampo the script is to long what are u saying the U.E is the version he wanted released the studio said no and your argument is what again
He did Watchmen. For that alone he's the man. In my book anyway.
+2004mojo 👍
Its not about what he wants. If he new he could deliver that script in 2.5 hours he needed to get a rewrite. If he knows the studio is aiming for a certain time then he knows they are going to cut if he goes over.
Im so mad WHYYY DIDNT YOU FUCKING RELASE THE ULTIMATE IN THEATERS INSTEADD
They did, the day before in selected theaters
Studio politics.
I'd more eagerly put the blame on the theaters. More screenings mean more popcorn bought. Ever since the disgrace that was the Paramount Decision, theaters had separate interests from the studios.
+Hard Boiled Entertainment It's not the theater's fault. If a studio's movie fails to bring in ticket sales, then theaters have to cut the number of screenings in favor of a more profitable movie or else they lose money.
only nerds would watch a 3 hour movie about men in capes
I am a huge superman fan, the bvs ue makes me so upset, they cut so much important things for the superman character. Theatrical cut 7/10, UE 9.5/10. I'm buying the blue ray.
I'm a Superman fan too. It's good to hear the UE shows him some love.
THERE we go, I knew Hector would toss in some bs race/sexist talk as he always does, lol...
It shows insecurity on themselves :/
Women, men, we are persons, that its. Race doesn't exist, really.
Only 1, human race all with different looks, that's it.
Couldn't have said it better man.
+COMMENTS Palooza mmmh hmmm
What'd you disagree with?
Who gives a shit
OH NO, Hal Jordan is a "straight white male". Oh, the humanity!
Yeah, I don't get it, making a character a different race doesn't make the character more interesting. At least it shouldn't. Only if it's about racism/ segregation topic should race make a character interesting in a film.
I just find it ridiculous that so many people attack everything that is "white" these days. It's insane. White people as a whole are not bad, and you also can't get mad at any white actor who gets a paying gig. You would so take that role if you could too. And Hal Jordan is THE definitive GL, I don't care what anyone says. The others are cool too, but I want to see THE Green Lantern. And don't even try that Alan Scott bullshit, lol...
Bullshit - Jon Stewart is the definiteive GL - defined the character through the Justice League animated written by Duane McDuffie.
Kelvin McBride
Nope, just on that cartoon(although I loved that cartoon). Hal Jordan is Green Lantern.
His problem isn't Hal Jordan being straight white male, but the fact that adding him only keeps the team largely homogenous, other than Cyborg and Wonder Woman... Hell I wanted to see Hawkgirl in a live action movie one day and not on CW like that Smallville special, so adding her would be cool to me because in ADDITION to being a cool character imo, she's also wouldn't make the team MORE homogenous. An argument can be made for ALOT of cool DC characters who won't stack the straight white male count not just in justice league but in action movies in general. Vixen would finally break the myth that there are no black women superheroes other than Storm from Marvel, she's also a cool character. By default there always has to be more straight white males on a superhero cast than anyone else, and I think that's a silly thing to abide by in this day in age when most groups of people are accepted and treated a lot better these days. Batman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, then you want to add Hal Jordan? (By the way, I know the actor for Aquaman in real life is not white, but I'm sure in the movie he will be seen and interpreted as "white" much like The Rock in his Hercules film. It's a given that most Atlanteans are likely going to have a European appearance)
Don't get me wrong I can completely see why someone would hate Hal Jordan being excluded, I'm sure just like Reyner and Stewart, he's a favorite for many, but just like you want Jordan included many people have their favorites they want included as well, and race is apart of their arguments and I think that's fair considering that adding Jordan simply further completes the old tired quota of white straight and male dominating a cast (a cast already dominated by that group to begin with)
All I'm saying, and this is what Hector was getting at, is at least CONSIDER looking at other heroes; the white straight males aren't the only cool characters DC has, and not the only cool Lantern either.
Hope WB learned their lesson. Just let Snyder do the movie he wants to do ✌😁
EXACTLY. I feel so bad for him
Exactly!
Just don't let David "Yay, Superman renouncing his American citizenship made it into the Ultimate Edition" Goyer write them ever again.
*Spoiler Alert lol* The score when Superman eventually defeats Doomsday is f*cking AMAZING! Underrated!
we owes Zack Snyder a apologies.
+Creep eth Unfortunately he did tell a good story. The studio shafted him badly.
I'm a big Fan of BVS but seeing the UC they left money on the table.
they were looking for Avengers money when they should have been seeking Dark Knight numbers.
These 3hrs would have have the movie Decent legs.
Yeah instead I'm once again question WB's stewardship of the DCEU. They're desperate to have a big franchise to rival Universal and Disney.
I owe him nothing. I didn't like the film, end of story. If he got his feelings hurt from my random internet comments he needs to rethink his career, being told he isn't the next Spielberg is par for the course. Get over it. Not everyone likes the same shit as you do, apologize to ME for continuing to go to his films, and telling Hollywood it's ok for us to continue to be spoon fed half finished garbage fires instead of films.
+swing sip no cap 3 iron man 3 dumbass and incredible hulk film wss better than batman vs superman
No, he still didn't make a good movie. To have a movie called Batman v Superman and then at the end throw away all reasons for them to fight and base it on muppet-Lex forcing Superman to kill Batman is laughably bad storytelling. Or at least I would laugh if I wasn't so disappointed.
The ultimate cut was definitely an improvement. It doesn't fix all the issues with the film and I was still at odds with some of the characterizations, but it gives you a better understanding of what Snyder was trying to accomplish. However, I don't really think that the R-rating is necessary. Overall, I give it a 7.5/10 and recommend anyone who may not liked the theatrical cut to at least give this version a chance. It's not a perfect film, but was good enough to renew some of my trust in the direction they are taking these characters in.
It was for more blood added to some action scenes and a 2 second shower scene where they show Ben's butt.
+Spideymrw Just a Spoiler Warning:
There is one F-bomb, but overall, it's due to violence. There's blood spatters when people get shot in the head, someone gets shanked to death in prison, a person gets pushed in front of a train (although no blood is shown in the ladder 2.) The scene with Clarke and Lois in the tub is extended (no nudity though) and you also see Bruce Wayne's butt when he's in the shower.
"undewhelmed by Jessica Jones" - I don't understand these words in this configuration
I've never watched Jessica Jones and probably will never do so but I liked Daredevil and excited for a Punisher spinoff.
Can you understand that configuration?
Dude that show sucked besides David tennants performance. Action was terrible and so was some of the dialogue.
Those look like English words - but nope just don't make any sense to me when read all together.
Checheyigen1
Good, Schneep and I have done our jobs well then. :D
This statement contradicts the fact that Jessica Jones is a well written quality show.
The worst thing to happen to BvS and Snyder.... WB Studio execs.
They don't deserve you Zack.....
Personally I think Superman is still transitioning into THE SUPERMAN we've known in the comics.
Zack Sucker Punch don't deserve a job. Emo Superman, Mass Murder Batman and Jar Jar Bink Luthor, those are not WB Studio, those are his stupid idea.
LOL Yeah Sucker Punch did SUCK. But honestly I'm glad the DC characters carry that darker tone. Or everyone would just call it a Marvel clone.
Hopefully Snyder gets some Vindication from this being released.
Lol you're cute. Not trying to change anyones mind this is UA-cam. Oh yer talkin to Baal! NVM! :O)
Robert Meyer Burnett is such a gentleman, never interrupts anyone, always makes great points
So it just made a realization... That painting with the angels and demons... the way it is show after the jail scene between Luthor and Batman.... it symbolizes the status quo at the beginning and during the justice league event.... Stepenwolf, the demon and his horde of parademons coming from the sky (literally or metaphorically) Superman, the angel coming back from death/hell/darkness/void beneath. " We know now, demons don't come from hell beneath us... they come from the stars", lol.... MIND BLOWN!
It's good because you see more new scenes that connects some of the scenes that we already saw in the theatrical cut. Also the action sequences are more intense, you see more blood spatter, New scenes that wasn't in the theater was shown here, it wasn't big but still it was a nice one. The connecting of the plot makes this film good.
Yes the film just flows so much better. I didn't even realize it was 3 hours long I was so engaged
hated this guy with the star in the chest
You should be hating Warner bros for releasing a shitty movie. It's at 27% for fuck sake.
+farhaan telvis you're an idiot. Sharknado is a joke that clearly flew over your head. lmfao
Is it because he would spit out spoilers and then half-heartedly cover it up by saying, "Just kidding"?
true... and also, it seems that he didn't like the ultimate version, just to have a "different opinion". So, right after he says it is a better version... it is better or not, dam it? By the way, out of US, people give a shit for scores... we liked the movie... could be better, but it is good.
I don't hate him, but boy he is the one who do not understand a damn thing about Superman o.o
I loved when Perry told Clark to go to Gotham, and says to him, "Don't let them take your lunch money", lol...
Can't wait for the Civil War bluray
Same. Best film of the year by far.
Ashley's great. A smart woman with great input. Should have her on more.
Campea was Lex Luthor I'm pretty sure @ 2:33
9:58 That's what the Movie is all about :D, after Man of Steel everybody hated and said "Nah, Superman can't just destroy a whole City with everybody being ok with that, he killed thousands of people", now they adress that in BvS and theyre still not happy
In BVS Superman is hated becuase of something he couldn't control but when he dies everyone loves him... that's symbolic of how Snyder was hated and now he's revered lol.
So odd how true that is
For god sake's Superman would never let a murderer go. Even Daredevil does his best to put Punisher in jail for murder.
Bvs is gahbige.
agreed.
+farhaan telvis not a Schmoes fan?
+farhaan telvis you don't watch this channel a lot I'm guessing.
self defence my ass! he is looking for trouble! gtfo nra sheep
Bryan Singers bestie keeps trying to defend Bryan's crappy movies.
I totally agree with Hector, BvS: Ultimate Edition, it is the same movie, but now is longer and boring
He didn't say that it's just longer and boring.
Well done having Hector Navarro and Ashley Victoria Robinson back, they has great comments and even things out as well.
did hector say hal shouldn't be in JL because he is white and straight or did i pick that up wrong
No that's exactly what he said, thank god he's not in charge of this universe
+Enrique Medina no I agree, I want Hal to be there as well, and I hate the fact the hector tries to downplay him like he isn't important
personally i like JS better but it has nothing to do with race or any other shit, i just watched alot of dc animated shows growing up
He is saying that with so many other GL characters using someone other than Hal Jordan, a character that Hector and a lot of other people see as very similar to what we see over and over: the 'traditional' white male hero archetype, would be more interesting in a Justice League film. Thats not saying he shouldn't be there BECAUSE he's white.
Langley M Neely the problem i have with that is that when he says those things, it feels like he wants them to skip over hal jordon which is not cool, i'm hispanic and hal jordon is my favorite lantern so i would hate for him to be skipped over and not used, and since this is a universe i don't see why we can't work in the other lanterns in the future, hell the justice league movies don't even need to have the same lantern in each but at least make so that all the lanterns we know are in that universe
I never saw it in the theater because of all of the bad press ... watched the extended cut and I loved it!! ... had issues but they were minor to me ... loved wonder woman! Batman was a Beast!!
So great to know Schnepp really enjoys the Ultimate Cut. On with the DCEU! Ultimate cut is far more of an epic superhero drama.
When Perry called Clark a nerd lol
Did hector really say Boomerang is in Marvel comics?! Haha
There is a character named Boomerang in Marvel comics. While DC comics has Captain Boomerang.
The only Boomerang I know is from Marvel. he reminds me of a Megaman villain.
+Colorado Quick Man from Mega Man 2
+benny Jer lol YAS!
Jon Schnep is good at what he does
Can't believe there are still people like Hector who believe that Snyder/WB "hate" Superman. It is the populace - or at least half of it - that fears/hates him. In the face of that mistrust, Superman still strives to be the symbol of hope that his father wanted him to be. He even sacrifices himself for a populace that still doesn't trust him. Misreading the film to this level is shocking.
Did Hector even see the theatrical release? The one where Superman was shown saving people from floods, fires, explosions, and a monster?
Shout-out to Hector for bringing up diversity in these tent-pole films!!!! Its an important issue that collider (across all their shows) doesn't, through no direct fault of their own, bring up nearly enough, and a much needed breath of fresh air.
Hector should have pushed back harder on Schnepp with his point about Superman. The Zack Snyder Superman told Lois Lane he was either going to convince Batman to help him against Luthor or kill him. Not only is that not how Superman would act, that is not how any hero would act.
What would you do if your mother was kidnapped and the only way you can save her is by killing someone you learned to hate (as Superman did throughout the movie)? Just curious.
Miguel Martins Well, me personally as a normally functioning human being with no super powers, I would tell the police. I'm not a murderer. If I had the God-like powers of Superman and I was allegedly a superhero I would convince Batman to help me instead of getting in his face and throwing him around like a bully. You know who would kill batman in that scenario? A psychopath. Even a deranged vigilante like the Punisher would not do it.
Brandon Reed I forgot about that. Hector is right. They either know nothing about the character or just don't give a damn.
+Joel Henry He tried
The Kents were a mess. And in the film he says Superman was just a dream of a farmer from Kansas. But that's not even true. Pa Kent was like "screw humanity, hide."
YES! Collider Heroes Time!
Growin up as a kid, Space Ghost Coast to Coast was HILARIOUS. My favorite episode was when Space Ghost ate the guests.
loved the writings around his body where it says "if your looking for hope look around" or something. this shows supermans true meaning and what he represents. to inspire people and hope. i think snyder did a wonderful job with superman
most of my favorite moments in the ultimate edition were perry white scenes he was crackin me up.
Remember, this movie wasn't funny or fun, so that can't be true /s
+COMMENTS Palooza the ultimate cut has some fun to it honestly.
I legit laugh at the midfing to the drone lol
Him, lex, and alfred made me laugh.
Hahaha! I agree.
The anticipation is killing me for
DOCTOR STRANGE!!
FUCK!!! After 63 episodes they FINALLY mention He-man and the Masters of the Universe in minor mutations and NO ONE touches it.
Fuck.
Theatrical release - 7.5/10. Ultimate edition - 8.5 or even a 9/10. WB owe Snyder an apology. Also, yes to John Stewart, he's the GL I grew up on and Hal had his shot.
I'd honestly give the UC a 9/10.
Oh yes i'm sweaty already let's go WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Woo Hoo!
What's great about this movie was even the score was extended during the sequence when Lois was kidnapped and as she was walking on the helipad towards Lex.
the guy with glasses was on point, it's great hearing different points of view on subjects like these that go over most comic readers heads
BVS is Still garbage
ReKT
If you could only pick one SW movie to watch, Rogue One or Episode VIII?
Civil War is basement
Miss X
What's the ceiling or attic?
You're a gobshite loser with no taste.
I still love this superman. To me he represents the real world version of a hero. Soldiers deployed overseas are constantly told of consequences. They are consistently hated even though theyre doing their best to help. Theyre belittled because they dont fit in or dont belong wherever they are. Is this the Chris reeve superman? no, and im glad hes not because that superman sucked.
lol all the bad shit is happening because of him. he didn't even try to save anyone civilian during the cgi fest in man of steel. soldiers may cause trouble but at least they try to save civilians.
Shane O well fighting has consequences. Mos is still my favorite superhero movie. Like jon said he was superman for all of 24 hours before military trained kryptonians came after him. And in case you didnt know soldiers and cops alike are trained to stop the threat first. Because when your life is on the line it wont help anyone if your dead. Fighting isnt a game. It takes all your attention. Now if this was comic superman, which im generally not a fan of outside of a few stories, of course hed have saved everyone and beat zod all while playing Beethoven's 5th. But this suppose to be a more real world superman. And saving everyone just isnt possible
Holy crap, the "What's Coming Up" segment was probably the sweatiest segment I've seen on the history of this show!
The ultimate edition is the same as the theatrical cut, but with some extra scenes. Not much of a difference for me. It was bad in March and it's bad in June. I'd say the difference between the theatrical cut and the ultimate edition is night and dusk. Showing Clark digging into the Batman improves it a little bit and is, overall, the biggest improvement. Outside of that the characters are still weak and the overall story didn't mesh well with the themes as far as I'm concerned. If you didn't like the film originally then I don't understand why you would think that this cut is much better. It's the same for the most part. On the flip side, since it's basically the same movie just with some extra bits, if you liked the film originally I can see why you would love it now, so big recommendation if you're a BvS fan. Other than that don't see anyone else really getting much enjoyment out of it. That's just my two cents though. Take it or don't take it however you want. Everyone has opinions.
I've had hate because of this, this ultimate cut doesn't change anything. It's still a bad superhero film.
I haven't finished the UC yet (it's hard to watch in one sitting) but so far, it's added some stuff that filled in some plot holes from the original cut, and expanded on some certain subjects that should have been explored more in the original cut. But, with all that being said, that doesn't change the fact that the movie still isn't very good. You can't fix the major problems by adding 30 minutes of footage. I said that from the beginning. Is it better than the original cut? Yes. Is that saying much? No.
***** BVS is mature to you?
***** SW7 is way better than BVS and would watch that film 10 times over.
***** I loved it so i don't care what you thought about it.
So will Batman be going to jail for murder? or?
Batman is dc's whore they need him out their making money. So no.
+King C SUPERMAX style send batman in and get him to kick some ass
the avengers didnt, so batman wont
But IM never tried to kill an innocent, good hearted farmboy form kansas, let alone, team up with someone he tried to flat out murder only 10 min later
difference is, IM didnt team up with a remaining hydra agent 10 min after he brutally tries to murder him.
Yes! Hector is back! It's a fun time in the Cool Zone! :p P.S. that is Future Girl Amy in the drawing.
I don't hate Hector like I see most of the comment section does. This is the first time I have seen him on Collider (at least to my recollection), and I think he's alright. I will have to see him more to say whether I like him, but from this alone he seems decent enough.
I really liked getting a little flavor on your work on Space Ghost. Is there anywhere that you talk more about your time with Adult Swim? For a few years [AS] was my absolute jam, I watched it almost every day. I'd love to hear more behind the scenes stories.
Hell yeah, man, I second this motion.
So... I turn on heroes happy because I finally get to hear Schnepp get to talk positively about BVS (ultimate cut) then he introduces Hector Navarro and my dreams of all positive BVS talk are dashed. 😂😂 I really like Hector. I just know he bashed BVS 24/7 and no matter the cut he will always say not his Batman not his Superman not enough hope. And I respect his opinion. Just disagree with it. Oh well! Carry on!
Hector Idk what these dudes are talking about in the comics you're great
the comments*
This version showed the investigative sides to Clark Kent, Lois Lane which was never shown in the theatrical cut. Seeing more additional dialogue during the daily planet scene between Lois Lane Perry White was even better and then leading to White, Kent and Lois having that hard talk were vital to the movie. Seeing the plan of attack that Lex had orchestrated in the ultimate edition was an improvement but still question his performance. Seeing Lex sending KGBeast to get rid of all the loose ends was very smart. The extended Africa sequence made a whole lot sense because see the involvement of CIA in this new version made more sense. The ingenious of KGBeast using a flamethrower to make it look like as if Superman used his heat vision was ingenious since the bullet wounds get singed.
The fact that someone can say you can't tell a story today like you could when Rocketteer came out is so sad. But then, I've never got on board the idea that only gritty realism makes a good story.
Can u pitch all films of Marvel's Phase 4
Make this as the SWEATY QUESTION 4 next week
BVS 3hr cut 😎 #Perfect
The problem with Cerebus is that it is partially parody based. I don't think many people would get Red Sonja and Elric references these days.
Favorite Space Ghost: Coast to Coast episode was an episode where they end up making a game show with the villains as the contestants, and Space Ghost quickly loses control of the situation, but I don't know the name of the episode, or what season it is, so I've only seen it the time it aired. Was in tears the whole episode though.
I'm black and my tastes in comics were never defined by my race.
Defined, no, but I certainly responded well to Storm as she reminded me of my mother. I'm sure you can dig that. There are flavors in there that we all just relate to and feel good about subconsciously. Some people may feel that they aren't getting enough of their own flavors in Pop culture. I mean, Hell, whenever I see the Big Bang Theory I wanna throw up a little.
+GOLDMANVISION my problem with hector is that he acts like a characters race or gender is important to taste. well it isn't for me. Storm is great because she's not defined by her race or gender unlike wonder woman.
it is the biggest insult to creativity to allow identity politics to ruin fiction
I disagree... being an African Queen is a big part of her lineage, and set a huge precedence in comics.
+GOLDMANVISION storm unlike wonder woman isn't preachy. She's an African queen, but she isn't crusading to tell others how awful men or white people are unlike wonder woman
Thx to Hector for pointing out that Snyder and his crew dont get Superman at all. Beginning with man of steel. Why give him this stupid "Shall i use my powers to save people " subplot. OF COURSE YOU SHOULD SAVE PEOPLE, YOU ARE SUPERMAN. One of the core aspects of Superman is that he has ultimate power and does not get corrupted by it. He does the right thing in spite of the fact that he could do anything, because he ist basically a god. Snyder and Nolan made him another bruting, self doubting moper. Because dark is sooooo cool, when youre 15...
Im guessing you dont read the comics and dont know shit about superman at all as a character. Read injustice.
And in addition, superman in the latest comic is dark gritty and doubts his decision alot. Hes driven by power and needs the rest of the JL to bring him back to 180. Mehn, you know nothing
And in addition, superman in the latest comic is dark gritty and doubts his decision alot. Hes driven by power and needs the rest of the JL to bring him back to 180. Mehn, you know nothing
You are focusing on only one aspect of the superman canon, which is ok i guess. But i see the character in a bigger picture. Also, as you might suspect, i didnt like injustice.
emothegunslinger thats the thing, you have your preference, i have my preference and WB Zack snyder has heir preference on the character. And i prefer the zack snyder version. Thats why its not about 'not getting the character'. You understand it differently from the others and vice versa.
Loved the ultimate edition. Definitely darker and more violent. That part when Bats is walking up to that guy knifed to the wall was awesome. That staredown gave me the goose pimples lol Theatrical version-6 Ultimate Edition-8
Awesome episode! I love the chemistry between the hosts. It's like you guyz were just amplifying the love and excitement each of you have for the material and then gifting it to the audience.
Daredevil vs Punsiher set expectations too high for a cartoony director like zack snyder.
Batman is still a murderer. Superman is still a gloomy jabroni. The writing is still written by a 5th grader. Lex is still a Riddler ripoff. The final battle is still complete shit and MARTHA!!! Still happened. So no.. it didn't fix anything.
Will he go to jail or will they just ignore his murderers?
Maybe we should stop incorrectly using the word "Murder".
I have paid attention to Hector Navarro's criticisms of this movie for some time & i think he's problem is not that the movie is bad or good.He just has a problem of how Superman has been put in the real world & how the real world is reacting to him.Well guess what, that is what some people enjoy & want to see. This is not to say i don not or would not enjoy an all smiling and shinning Superman but i prefer to see him react to what is around him first.I want to watch Superman in the future of this Universe & look back & say "wow,do you remember when they blamed him for this" or "do you remember when he didn't know if he belonged here or there".The all smiling & shinning Superman we all see in the comics will come soon.Never think for one second that the show runners or Zack Snyder doesn't know Superman's worth.
It really aggravates me that people want DC to be lighter. The real truth is that they don't! Those that have seen BvS the Ultimate Cut, are not complaining that its too dark. The critics were wrong when it came to the tone. They were all over the place just complaining, as were the fans. I get it its all subjective, but now you see no one complaining. From the Set visit news for Justice League, I was just flat out turned off. I hate whats happening, to the point where I am worried about watching Suicide Squad. Yes the movie has the Joker, and Harley, and they are the only characters I expect to be dark and twisted, and at the same time put a smile on my face through their dark humor. I don't want to see levity for the hell of it, and for critics and those certain people that mistake levity as fun. Here's hoping they didn't ruin suicide squad.
You look at Arrow, and Supergirl, and the tone is just so light, and the show is just complete and utter shit. Marvel movies do need to go more serious. Civil War great when you didn't the certain characters dropping jokes every five seconds.
I never ever want the TV shows from DC, cross over with the DCEU. That would just ruin everything. Marvel/Disney is doing it, but so far, the only shows that are genuinely work are Dare Devil, and Agent Carter. Carter worked because it took place early on, so there is the freedom to play with stories. Dare Devil is fantastic on its own, and mentions the MCU in a subtle way. Jessica Jones was good, but felt 7 episodes too long. It got boring. Dare Devil season 1 took me 3 days to finish, Season 2 took me 2 days, and Jessica Jones took me a month and half to get through.
I don't even watch this show but, NO! This film might right alot of wrongs but at the end of the day all that matters is what was released in theatres.
Exactly. I HATED the movie. As a Batman fan this film made me completely lose interest in the Batman of this universe.
+Donny St.Pierre Wat
+Donny St.Pierre ? Batman redeemed himself by the end of BVS - he is becoming the Batman we know in Suicide squad & JL
+Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens: Why would you say that?
+Donny St.Pierre Batman was the best part of the film
bvs ultimate cut was great
Correction - It does not make sense from an economic standpoint to shorten the movie. Titanic and Avatar had no problems making money with long running times. Obviously chopping the movie up was detrimental, from an economic stand point.
I'll have to redbox it, I'm not paying for the movie again since I suspect its not going to have answers to the numerous glaring flaws the theatrical version had. I heard some scenes that might help some minor issues, but I heard nothing that changes the worst problems.
Well i bought it and pre ordered it! So i am good! I watched it in my friends phone. He bought it in itunes. Loved the UE.
Agree!
The problem wasn't the movie, it was your attention spans. I've been saying since day one of hate. "The theatrical cut explains everything clearly (aside from the comic book stuff you just need to know, like the Flash scene) and if you PAY THE FUCK ATTENTION, you'll get it."
Anyone who says it's a mess, but praised Civil War, is an elitist prick who didn't know what they were talking about.
It's still the same shitty movie. The final battle still is pointless and meaningless.
I absolutely loved the movie, both the theatrical and ultimate cut. I feel like it is a great continuation of the story and world building process from MoS but what I like the most is Superman and his whole character arc. I am not a comic book reader and before MoS I did not have my preferred version of superman, I did not have my favorite superman storylines etc...I just always thought he was cool but kind of boring. I do not think that anymore. His whole arc, his development from MoS to his sacrifice was, imo, executed beautifully, it made me care for this character, understand his struggle but also realize the goodness that he possesses. When they did the death of superman in this movie, I did not feel it was a wasted opportunity, instead I thought it was a brilliant way to end this arc for the character of superman. Now, when comes back in JL he can be that all positive hero, but i feel like he had to go through this trouble first.
i am happy that schnepp likes this ultimate cut because i could really see how hurt he was that he didn't like BvS theatrical cut. and i really liked this ultimate edition
You know what this show needs..... more diversity talk..
***** This should not be a political show... Make another show for that.. I'm not here for that..
HA! Yeah, it's so annoying. I really don't want to be lectured to when watching a movie channel. Especially by idiots that don't know what they are talking about.
+Julian Webb Agreed. I'm all for racial/social discussions but NOT on a show such as this. Too many people use these shows as their soapbox to talk about how their people are still being oppressed because comics or Hollywood isn't as diverse as they want it, despite that both are more diverse than ever.
Agree. I don't mind that he completely missed the point of the Ultimate Edition--those are just our different viewpoints. But stuffing his political agenda down our throat is uncalled for on this show. On one comment here he also says "if you're not a feminist I feel sorry for you."
Rawley Fear I didn't see that, that's bullshit. Collider should be embarrassed...
So Hector enjoyed Ant Man, Captain America 1, and Thor movies, but hates BvS? Biased fanboy, your shirt says it all!
He should be fired then. It seems it affects his health everytime he speaks positively about DC.
+Alberto Tejeda what other dc movies does he hate?
wow55 Man of Steel, which is a lot better than the average comic movies.
I like Hector and his comments. I understand his view points and get where he is coming from. This is the first time I heard him on any type of medium. Perhaps because some of you have him make comments else where you don't like him here. What he says, on this ep, makes sense and he explains himself very well.
I would watch more things with him, I appreciate everyone's knowledge on this panel. All nerds, thanks sweaty nerdy crew. Do more with this crew, good chemistry and a really nice exchange of ideas with no one of talking over taking and breaking the flow.
I was thinking "it'll be great if Hector is on today" because he pretty much represents how I feel about this film, and he is.
You only get one chance at making a good first impression. Sorry.
1. Civil War
2. Daredevil 2
3. Deadpool
4. Apocalypse
5. Batman vs Superman
Ew, xmen was shit
Good ranking, but after Deadpool at #3 I kind of stop ranking since Apocalypse and BvS weren't good movies. Apocalypse was pretty boring, but with some aspects that seems promising for the future, and BvS is a downright mess.
Your list is in reverse order.
you're a dumbass
R.J Williams Gotta be a Marvel fan....always resort to name calling. Why are you guys so damn evil....lol
The Extended Cut and I have to say this is a better version of the film because you see so many new things from different point of views, new scenes, existing scenes that are extended, the best was seeing the investigative sides of Clark and Lois in this film, Even the score was extended as well as the fight sequence between Superman and Batman. The clue as to why Superman couldn't prevent bomb blast at the capital is answered even though I knew ahead of time why he wasn't able to see the bomb inside the chair. Also the Funeral scenes (Pete Ross, The father from Man of Steel and seeing Perry White and Jenny Olsen showing up) brought a whole new perspective to the funeral scene and also Debra Synder made a cameo in the film. This version of the film would have made little more sense and of course there are faults which everyone knows but with these new additions this version is a slight improvement.
I LOVE JOHN CARTER :)!!! It was a GREAT movie and did not need to be modern. People just need to like or enjoy period settings
It's a shame seeing people justify this gimmick. Hollywood can keep making shit movie and then just make up new footage to make it better in a cash grab bluray.
"make up new footage", I don't think you know how movies work.
Exactly. It's what the video game industry has been doing for a while. Release the game incomplete, get everyone's money, then just patch the game later with an update. Ironically, Batman: Arkham Knight did this shit last year... I never thought they'd start doing it with movies though... I guess WB knows they can get away with it, because everyone's got a boner for Batman.
Great Show!
BvS whaetever edition. This is a bad movie.
I completely agree with Jon concerning Superman. UE helped me care more for Clark by the end. I also believe that Superman will have a "redemption role" in Justice League.
The director failed to do what he was tasked to do. The studio(who is paying for the movie) wanted a 2 hour 25 minute movie and he couldn't do it.
When I was 13 my dad (rip) bought me the entire midnight sons run.... memories :)
The down side is that you can't actually rent the Ultimate Edition. Every VOD service is offering it for purchase only. I didn't want to waste my $8 seeing this in theaters, why would I want to put $20 for an extended version that I'm not convinced I will like?
I feel it (the UC) is the same in so far as the characterizations do not change.
That being said, the story actually makes sense (plot holes are filled, each arc ends, etc...) and the editing is improved and smooth.
What I tell people, should they ask about the UC is this: If you took issue with the editing and pacing, then the UC will probably change your opinion of the film. If you took issue with the characterizations of the heroes and villains, then you likely won't see much of a difference.
Did I miss something? Wasnt this on the other night? or was that them coming out of the theatrical viewing of the directors cut?
That fan art is amazing, well done to everyone who sent them in.
