All I ask is that Routh be given a role. It doesn’t have to be Jor-El or Perry or something, still too young for Jonathan (imo), but just a nod to a changing of the guard. And I haven’t watched it yet, but Cudlitz as Luthor? Just think about it! Mike did great on any number of military characters, overshadowed the titular “Clarice”, which was quietly cancelled by cbs, and was willing to go “dolphin smooth” for S&L, and he’d do a great Lex on the big screen, too.
He can actually be Jor-El tbh. I wouldn’t say Jonathan because he looks to much like Clark. But Routh can play Jonathan Kent. Since the Kent’s have gotten Clark in their 30s

Please make superman great again. Superman doesn't get sneaked up on. He doesn't just slug it out. When battling an unknown foe, he is analyze, scanning it DNA, studying it's mood and temperament. Michael's Lex is like Robert's Tony Stark, Hugh's Wolverine and Keanu's John Wick.
Gunn NEEDS to hire you for Lex because you are easily still the best live action depiction. We need to see you finally face off with Supes as full form Lex.
I keep getting more and more relieved and hopeful for the Gunnverse....
Lmaoo the shots at Jessie Eisenbergs take on Lex Luther was hilarious 😂😂😂🤣🤣 Michael was and still is the best Lex Luther PERIOD
Rosenbaum is the best Lex. In my head canon, Eisenberg is Alexander Luther from Earth 3.
There were so many scenes that were cringe with JE, but the one in the cell was like such a facepalm, like wth hell were they thinking...
@@zs5390 it was just HORRIBLE the take on lex in BvS that’s the film I knock Zach Snyder on that movie was a mess
That Jesse Eisenberg roast at the end was “subtle” 😂
You were the best Lex, good interview
Michael's take on lex is the very best sijce gene Hackman's original performance. Michael brought a special something to that character not only becsue of having 6 seasons to do it in, but he embodied the character in a way no one else ever has and as far as I'm concerned never will.
as someone once said your not supposed to relate to superman (man of steel ) he’s meant to be someone your safe with
Just came here after watching the trailer
Looking forward to see what he does with DC. Sure it wont all be great but i think James is perfect for the job and truly has a passion for this.
Not going to lie that man stated a fact.. you are the best lex
If Michael Rosenbaum doesn't make at least a cameo in the Superman movies, that would be a crime.
Highly likely given that Gunn and Rosenbaum are good friends.
Looking forward to the Gunnverse.
"A crime" really? Do you really think that? I'd like a Superman movie with ZERO cameos. None. Not a single one. Something absolutely fresh.
Who I'm kidding? It's Gunn.
I wasn't a fan of Smallville for several reasons but for the 1 1/2 seasons that I did watch Michael's Lex Luthor was easily my favorite character on the show.
Truth justice and the American way. Smallville made me a Superman fan.
I wonder if he will announce the cast for the superman during San Diego comic con next month. If not then it would be on UA-cams DC you tube channel.
There for sure announcing it on comic con
Depends on if the WGA strike is still ongoing.
I’ve already heard a few people backing out of SDCC appearances in order to support WGA, knowing full well that it may hurt their promoted project in the long run.
Even Marvel is pushing some of their schedule back because of the current strike.
(Including Blade. Again.)
That last point about Lex Luthor was on point. Jesse Eisenberg was not the right choice for that character at all
I read that Gunn’s style will be influenced by the DCAU, which I would love since I feel that is one of the best interpretations of the characters
They should’ve got it right the first time, I do not like the aesthetic of the cartoons, what they had with the sunder universe was visually impressive, now they just soiled all over themselves and rebooting everything, what a disaster
@@SeFu2006yea snyder is good visually but that’s about it
@@Web_Of_Venom_777 Scream Queens was created by Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuck. James Gunn had nothing to do with it
Ppl are b*tching that James Gunn rebooted the DCU. Its not his fault. Warner Bros butchered the DCEU miserably. This was a wise choice to start with a reboot.
Hes doing the RIGHT thing.
Ending the divisive series because its going nowhere and its toxicity.
The DCEU dies so the DCU can start fresh without any baggage
Hack snyder ruined dc
You should be The Question in this new DCU. You would be brilliant in a noir role.
I want that to happen so badly
Good choice!
Love at the end how you pointed out how the last "Lex" acted more like the Joker than Lex Luthor.
That's not who they were talking about
That’s exactly who they were talking about. Who else?
As a Superman fan, and Henry Cavill fan, I’m excited for this new movie!
I'm not
Henry should have one last Superman movie
If he puts as much heart into this movie as he did GG3 then it will be the best Superman movie to come out.
Also let’s chill on Lex until the sequel or third film. Superman has tons of great villains that need screen time.
What I hope about Superman is making a well written story cause I think a good story is there but often directors get caught up on showing off his powers.
Gravitas - that’s the key term
This man has gave me every reason to trust him!! I fully believe that he will nail superman!!!
Agreed Michael is the best Lex. Human, intelligent, and with real motivations that simply differ at times from Clark/Superman.
James Gunn is correct in saying Rosenbum is the BEST Lex Luthor! He is absolutely right hell yeah! That iteration of Smallville Lex is the BEST i've seen so far! Michael was born to play that role! 💯
Huh he’s the only one that played lex lol
out of all live action lex,you are the best and it would be hard to argue it
If he does justice to All-Star Superman, everyone is for the best Superman movie ever
Yeah... but it's kinda weird to start a new Superman based on this material (if you know what I mean)
the inspirations are all star, birthright and superman:brainiac
I am not excited for this movie and yet I am 100% confident I will enjoy this movie.
Please make superman great again. Superman doesn't get sneaked up on. He doesn't just slug it out. When battling an unknown foe, he is analyze, scanning it DNA, studying it's mood and temperament. Everything he touches on Earth is like cardboard, he daintily opens door knob. His Fortress of Solitude helps block out the noise of the world so he can have moments of quiet rest. I think James Gunn can pull it off and Yes' Rosenbaum played the best Lex so far.
Glad to see someone who knows superman
hahaha ... I love "Hey, I'm mot saying anybody's done that" at the end.... we know who you meant, Michael....we know ;)
Im just happy the dceu is being rebooted. I've been wanting a clean slate for years, a new more comic booky take on it that actually feels like a universe.
it probably won't be a clean slate, i keep hearing of a soft reboot.
Snyders movies felt like a universe
Same until James gunn was announced as CEO I was ready to just not give a crap anymore, and it got even better when he said he's doing a reboot which is what I wanted to happen ever since Justice League Flopped. After that I was 100% on board he's a comic book fan so big he can really dig down to find those deep cut charachters that he wants spotlighted which is the kind of guy who SHOULD be running DC's movies.
@@dcmastermindfirst9418of toilet
@@Cloud-dt6xbi was waiting for reboot since MoS 🤣
I think smallville had the best storyline regarding Superman and lex from friends to arch enemies.
"Promise me IF there's a Lex Luthor, promise me he's not....Jesse Eiesenberg!"
You can tell michael is very protective over lex luthor when he asks James Gunn to do lex right. Because Michael is the only one who has nailed the character. I hope the new lex takes inspiration from his. And makes him a lot more serious and threatening. But also logical
I just want someone who plays Clark as well as Superman. And something (leading up) to Brainiac but starting small. Not too much into the origins.
Gunn gets it. He's cool and super fucking talented.
Michael Rosenbaum and John Shea are two of my favorite Lex Luther's of all time. That said, I'm just looking forward to whatever James Gunn creates with Superman. And he's right, if I was auditioning for a role that big, I wouldn't want the world to know. It is private. Because then you become known as the "guy who didn't get it." The internet, and specifically journalists and certain fans, need to stop trying to "leak" a film. It's not conducive to the creative process.
Was that referring to the Jessie Eisenberg Lex portrayal? 🤔
I love Gunn. I love that he’s so excited and confident about this world he’s building. DC fans we’re in good hands!

Gunn was spot on. Michael's the best Lex till this day.
Definitely the best Lex
Michael is indeed my favorite as well as the best, but I feel like I’m one of the few that actually liked John Cryer’s take. Perfect balance between Michael and Eisenberg for sure
Bryan Cranston would have been a great Lex Luthor.
Yeah, because good actors love to be typecast.
@@kennycodes and - let's be honest - he's most known for his role in Breaking Bad and it's a variation of that role that people want to see again in the form of Lex Luthor.

bro what will be the differences between cranston lex and walter white in term of appearances
Mike trying not to say "promise he won't be zuckerberg"
100% best Lex Luthor. I wish to see you in this role once again. You were beloved as much as Clark in this series. May be even more. Gunn should take you in his film may be as another cool villain. Do you hear me, James?
yap you are right !
Jesse eisenburg’s Lex Luther. Maybe is who he’s referring to.
I’m so happy Gunn is doing Superman. It’s gonna be so good
Michael Rosenbaum was the best Lex by a mile. If there is going to be a Lex he should be cast without question. He's a seriously good actor.
billy zane would make a badass lex luthor
More talented actors can shave their head and also be Lex.

Btw, thanks for reading my paragraph 😂
Dude you ARE THE BEST LEX. No hate towards other actors but you fucking killed that role and gave it so much more life then other characters. You plus the set up made magic happen
Im thinking Nickolas Hoult for lex, couldn't see it at first, but having recently seen a few more of his films i really think the guy could play it grounded like Michael said, plus he looks great bald. Would work well across someone like corenswet as superman.
Hoult would honestly be the closest to rosenbaums lex which ppl love and many think is the best live action lex

Aaron Paul?

You are the best Lex. Sorry Gene.
I really appreciate his take on casting leaks; as an audience member, i like being surprised
The worst Lex ever was the one in BvS. He acted more like Jim carrey's riddler than Lex and it was just awful.
I heard that the actor that played lex originally auditioned for jimmy olsen funny enough
It’s true, he’s the best Lex to have ever worn the skull cap.
I for one cant wait to see Gunns universe, and yes you are the best Lex. I didnt watch all of Smallville but I know from clips and the seasons I did see that Rosenbaum is a severely underrated actor and deserves all the love from the DC Fans that he gets
I love the remarks at the end that are clearly a call out of Kevin Spacey’s over the top/manic moments as Lex Luther
If we're getting a new superman, I'd like to see a few stand alone movies before they try and do a joint movie.. that's the one thing I feel bad about cavils superman.. that he got one movie then batman v superman then justice league..
Nope he got one stinker solo movie which had no depth or character or development and then another stinker duet where he has less lines than spidey in civil war .truly the worst superman on screen .

I'm still pissed he fired Henry Cavill. Based on that I do not care for James Gunns DC movies moving forward
@7.FANTASTICFANTASY.7 Then why did Dwayne Johnson announce online Henry Cavill would be coming back in to future DCEU Super-Man roles in promo of Black Adam?
(Black Adam has Henry as Superman in an end credit what going to happen next MCU style)
Couple months after Black Adam movie release and online announcement Henry Cavill as future Super-man, James Gunn got hired to lead of the DCEU. James Gunn quickly said Henry Cavill will NOT be in his DCEU. IT was Gunns choice.
@7.FANTASTICFANTASY.7 "They/Studio Already Hired JG For A SUPERMAN Movie And HE Already STARTED WRITING SCRIPTS ONE MONTH Before Even When THE ROCK Forced Studio Boss For HC SUPES Cameo In BLACK ADAM"
If you are correct James Gunn DID fire Henry. Henry was always in talks to come back to DCEU until James Gunn took over.
"BLACK ADAM In Just Last Minutes/2/3 Weeks Before Movie Released But Bcuz Movie Flopped/Failed, SO They Decided REBOOT UNIVERSE"
If Black Adam was a box office hit Henry would still be in the DCEU? So James Gunn (again) fired Henry.
Sorry not sorry fuck James Gunn.
All I have seen so far makes me happy quite sure movie will be much better
They had the perfect Superman, Cavell and they just said "naah it is fine, let's get somebody risky!"
Cavill sunk his own ship by getting involved with The Rock and doing an end around leadership to appear in Black Adam.
Yup.
Cavill wasn’t a perfect Superman though, he looked the part but what Zack did with him killing him off in his second film which itself was bizarre, this is a fresh new take with a younger Superman with no connections to the the shitty Superman arc Cavill sadly had, it’s time we moved on, and support his warhammer series
@@gdog5798 so he's still perfect Superman then since its not his fault?! 😕😕 he look the part,he can act,and in snydercut is literally classic Superman
