So Bro Mate Is this Worth It ?
Pendant owner here and I got a 4K stick for my second TV. The pendant is on a 1080P 200" projector and the 4K went on a flat panel 1080P LCD and both are using the official Amazon ethernet adapters so wifi was out of the equation. This setup gave me a lot of side by side actual usage time with both of them and the ability to swap which one was connected to which device. The 4K stick won in every way. MUCH snappier, faster to do every operation and load and no lag anywhere. The power and volume control work great with my flat panel. I have yet to figure out the right code to use for the projector but that's to be expected. Long story short. I got a second 4K stick and retired the pendant box. I never expected to want a stick device but this one is just great and there are always deals to get one for less than list price. Worth it. The ONLY downside for me is now having two 4K remotes in the same spot. I had to label them. But functionally, there is no problem using both at once and they don't interfere with each other.
Excellent video! I'm going to stick with my pendant for now because my 4k tv is 5years old. When I upgrade my TV I will definitely upgrade to the stick!
Hi Bro,
Really nice detailing.
I have a query here n need your help.
Will I be able to get 4K resolution videos if I use this 4k stick with my Sanyo XT43S8100FS TV?
Or should I just go ahead with fire stick 3rd generation? Please suggest
Just having the power and volume on the remote is worth it to me.
Does the fire 4k have the same problem where it loses network connection out of nowhere for no reason even though the signal is strong?
This is not the 4K firestick vs 3rd Gen!. This is about 4K firestick vs 2nd Gen which was released back in 2016 and a re-release in 2019 with the remote upgrade. The 3rd Gen was released in 2020! Please change your description.
Amazon has 2 4k sticks for $60 today, so jumped on it. Hope I'll be able to sell my pendants on craigslist now.
I don't know why they discontinued the pendant. The fire stick breaks at the connecting end really easily.
Does this fire stick support 21:9 viewing for Ultrawide monitors ?
This was what I was looking for, thanks. That difference on the Netflix launch actually sold me on the 4K even though I'm getting these for people with 1080p tvs, it's the speed of built in TV software that I'm replacing so may as well pay a tiny bit extra for a bigger speed difference.
I was thinking that you might do a benchmatk speed test on it....would love to see you do that video. I ordered one this morning after hearing it is supost to be 80% better.
Will I get a better picture even if my tv isn’t 4K? Or should I just get the regular FireTv without the 4K?
Trunks I’m late, but if you don’t have a 4K tv then there is no point buying a 4K stick. There is no difference between them with the lower screen resolutions.
@@Taevas___ that's not true
S C Unless the extra speed is worth paying £10, then there is no point.
@@Taevas___ the extra processing power and support for more file formats are worth £10
S C It’s all about opinion.
Should try to stream off an NAS using something like Archos video player. My regular fire tv stick is terrible at this. Was thinking of upgrading just for this issue alone since it has 500MB more RAM and a 1.7Ghz Processor as opposed to the 1.3Ghz processor from the previous gen.
i have a surround sound system can i get the remote to use the volume on it
I have a 3rd Gen pendant with the adapter for Ethernet. I run hard wired, not WiFi. Since this is not an option for the 4k stick, what is your thinking on data rate? It would seem the hardwire would be faster, right? Is there buffering for the WiFi? Is 5GHz required for good streaming?
I think there is even a difference of speed between a Roku TCL and the fire TV 4k, plus it has a web. Web browser as opposed to Roku devices. Which I like, great video Luke. Miss you
The Remote That Comes With The 4K Fire Stick Is Compatible With The Fire TV 3rd Gen Pendant
Which setting do you need for brightness and colour
Good honest review thank you I was just saying I thought it was advertised as being clocked at 1.7 GHz from the new processor , the. 905 that was in the 2nd gen is literally the slowest chipset the make has anyone ran benchmark tests? I’ll stick with my android box I have the second gen and it fills up wait to fast on expandable storage it does look great as far as Picture quality however people need to start being concerned on specs and future proofing are we going to keep buying the sticks every two years with minimal upgrades? This was supposed to clock at 1.7 GHz with the new processor in my review it’s about the same as the Fire tv @1.5 or you can get an awesome android box that supports Amazon store and everything the fire stick does in a friendly interface has expandable storage up to 64 GB has 4 GB of DDR3 ram and the MAli 750w gpu or up the boxes are just a better way to go in my opinion you just need to get the right box and there is a lot out there , a quality box is going to be between $80-$100 BUT the Fire tv was $70 or still is , the 2nd gen stick clocked at 1.3ghz under load up to 1.5 , not a big difference I wouldn’t rush to buy this product, I have yet to see anyone benchmark this item it’s supposed 1.7ghz under load possible up to 2.0 still doesn’t solve the storage issue and 4k content there are apk’s that use torrenting which is why you should use s vpn like with kodi after the OS partition you’re left truly with 5.96 usable storage , it WILL fill up fast especially if you like to record & the Only option is to get a otg cable for a flash drive or sd card but it still doesn’t count as internal storage idk , the 2nd gen is still just fine I’m sure my Netflix and hulu hbo , stock apps will look amazing however most people jailbreak this stick , there is no working mouse software yet so you’ll need Bluetooth which it doesn’t have and most of the iptv or movie apps majority of people get is always 1080 or 720 unless you find it in kodi which you will , even streamRus which is part of gearstv hands down is one of the better iptv services if you’re a chord cutter and the streams app is all 1080 Blu-ray quality my advice would be catch this on a sale if you really want it or do your research and get a future proofed 4/6k Android Box however I will say we are still scratching the service with 4k so 6k it really isn’t there still can rarely hit 60fps@4k typically 30 and I have a 80’ high end 4k Dolby Vision /sound hdr10+ tv that looks amazing and it’s a powerhouse specswise BUT everything is still basically 1080 as far as content , 4k has a while to go the only time you’ll truly see abundance of 4,6 or even 8 k is with professional photographers or videographers for example go to you tube even then some versions of you tube will only let you do 720 native, vs smart you tube apk that lets you actually use the 4k tech . All I’m saying is do your homework and don’t go rushing to buy a new product like I used to do with every Iphone or android phone get what is good for you’re taste and most important the specs will tell you all , run benchmark tests i have yet to see anyone do this , you can get geekbench if the amazon store look at your single and multi core scores and your summary, I wanted to get this stick but it’s not enough to warrant ditching the 2nd gen or a powerful upgradable box that both will still be relevant for years . Just my opinion . These reviews should get into the guts we all know what the stick is and does, show netflix , youtube etc. , I do this on my channel constantly with items sent to me people want to know everything about it before they blow there money in a item , good job in the not seeing a huge difference because honestly there is not what’s the point of a small upgrade if the content isn’t out there in abundance. I like this review for the honesty alone . Great job
Thanks so MUCH for the comparison!!!
The difference is $10. For that much money you get a massive upgrade if you think that way: U can have a bit faster processor, 1.5x more memory, Supports 4K HDR and a lot more formats, the remote controller not just looks different, but can use on almost any tv, becouse it has a built in IR blaster, so more function, more speed, for this little money. I think it is definitely worth it if you havin a 4k TV, or monitor. (more emulated games are running on it if you like to "hack" the system a bit). :)
Gábor Nagy better off getting smart tv than 4K fire stick lol. You only should get this if the tv can’t install apps which is not a smart tv
I see Netflix already supports Fire Stick TV 4K for Dolby Vision... but no Dolby Atmos support on Netflix yet?
Thanks I got one coming. 👍🏼
How do I no iv bought a 3 gen fire stick and not a 2 gen one
Which Roku is your favorite at this time
How come he has that different start up? My fire tv starts with the amazon logo, then changes to the fire tv logo
Because things change after 2 years
Fire TV 2nd Gen box is still the best Amazon streamer ever
Why? Curious because I'm going to but one or the other
@@newdrew2744 It's the fastest tv box outside of NVIDIA Shield or H96Max RK3399 . It also has USB and Net ports as well as card slot.
Question: So I can't help but notice this new stick ALWAYS outputs Dolby D +. No matter what. It's strange because to me it seems to sound a bit louder than my previous 2nd gen stick. Also, turning on Dynamic Range (or night mode on my receiver) seems to have no effect. Is it actually Dolby D +? Thanks.
It work good on ur TV right
Thx for the review, was going to get the regular one.
Question is it better then the Fire tv 4k 3rd gen the pendant one. or this firestick just good for a update remote ? and is it worth if i dont a 4k tv?
an amazing media streaming device with all current video and audio technologies and the best thing about it is that it is powered by MediaTek .
What is the current rating (amps) of the supplied wall charger ? thanks
I still have the 2nd gen Fire Stick that AT&T gave me for my Direct TV Now sub. May look to upgrade since its kinda sluggish at times
Tony Yayo I have same stick but I have not issues with being sluggish but yes Direct Tv now app is slow on it at times 😜 I also use Apple TV with it works much faster 😉
Do it, will be much faster compared to a firestick 2nd gen
Are they both 4K sticks? (3rd and the 4th generation 4K sticks?)
So Im new to this I have cable and ready to cut the cord Im not too educated on these but was wondering I have just a regular flat screen tv do can I use the 4k only because target will have this on sale for 24 bucks ???
It's on sale for $35 at Amazon Target and Best Buy. You will need a 4K TELEVISION to view available 4k content
Robyia, you don't need to buy the 4k version, you can buy the regular one and you will be just fine, just note that the 4k version will give u better performance. You can still use the 4k version on your TV you just wont be able to see 4k content, all it means.
@@NightLifeDJs1 hey buying this for my mom. But I just checked her tv and it's 720p should still work right?
Yes :), tell your mom to use 720 links when asked to use links with 720 1080 and 4k options
@@NightLifeDJs1 nice thanks for the info
I have a older version amazon 4kuhd insignia t.v now would that 4k firestick upgrade it to current 4k and is it worth getting? And also have the whole govee setup will it make those sync better to? Just curious
Are the directional button clicks still loud on the new remote? For the life of me I cannot figure out why it is so loud. The clicks could literally wake everyone in the house up.
I like your video presentation but I noticed that you didn’t suggest changing any of the default settings. So is default settings sufficient for all 4k TVs?
The fire TV auto detects what is needed for your TV.
Would I get dolby atmos on prime video if I plug stick in my jbl soundbar 9.1 but my TV is non 4k?
my stick had netflix included (no monthly charges). Does the new fire TV stick offer Netflix for free.?
am I missing something??? your heading is 4K vs the 3rd gen but you keep talking about other fire sticks
Compact yet very effective.. I just loved it and really like the fact that it is powered by mediatek
Any clue when it arrives to Spain? No wait for 4 years like Echo faimily please. Great video thanks.
About 16 year's at least mate you now :)
We Have A 2nd generation Amazon Fire TV & It still works well! 👍
plugging it to the wall or to the TV makes does not affect the reboot speed... Reboot speed is purely based on device's hardware. Otherwise it's like saying you could speed up your laptop (or your laptop's reboot time) by plugging it to a bigger power supply...does it make sense? There might be a difference if you power it by battery because the laptop smart technology might slow down its performance to extend battery life. But should not be the case on any battery-less device...
Hey I'm about to cut the cord so now that you have reviewed the 4K stick I would like to know if you recommend that I buy the 2 generation fire stick are the new 4 k stick I do not have a4 k tv.
Sedrick Granger Buy the H96 Pro Tv Stick! Make sure it's the "Pro" model. They came out with a cheaper s905 version. The Pro has the s912 chipset, Runs circles around the firestick. You can run cetus play app on your phone for a remote on the H96. Con is, it doesn't come with a remote.
@@hakeemshabazz3207 S905X2 is better than the S912 for media playback capabilities.
Sedrick Granger better off buying non 4K ver cheaper
Compared to the nvidia shield?
Wait so the third gen one without 4K is the same as the 2nd gen firestick
The 4K Pendant had trouble with HDR for me, when I quit a HDR program the menu often stayed in HDR mode and looked terrible.
Also interesting: auto Framerate Switching...they added it to the Pendant, but it only worked for Amazon Video content. Does it now work for Netflix as well? On top of that...does Netflix offer Dolby Atmos on the FireTV Stick now?
Oh, and even more interesting:
Does it actually offer better Upscaling than the Pendant which was pretty bad in that respect...
Yep it's way faster, better remote. But this will stay as a secondary device to the Shield. The ultimate machine.
Shield will always be boss lol
It cost three times as much. I hope it's better for that price. Right now in fact you can buy the stick for $35. Far better deal for the price.
Nick, how to u like that Amazon added a power button and is to power off the tv and not the fire stick lol
Shield cost too much especially just for streaming and running Kodi. Now if you are gaming maybe its worth the cost.
@@alphabanks Yes and no, for streaming the shield is a bit overrated, however the company, parts, and video card is what i like about it.
Thanks for nice video. One of very few currently on UA-cam.
Does 4K stick work while drawing power from TV USB port?
Yes it does.
Thank you sir.
Not really. tried it on a samsung and Toshiba TV and on both the Fire TV Stick said that the USB port is unsupported
Does this remote also hang or stop working after certain period of time like their previous models?
Having that issue right now. Ugh!
witch work fast wifi roku or amazon ? thanks
I want this One How Much Is it ???
I have the original fire tv stick and remote. If I get a more up to date remote will that alone may my original fire tv stick faster.
Nope.....its all in the software and programming.....the cube is pretty good
The new Remote control alone is almost the same price as the entire Firestick 4K system, you might just get the complete system instead of the new remote to be used wit an older system.
Bizoton Boy or u can get a free remote by downloading the fire stick remote on your phone
How do you think this 4k stick would compare to the fire TV 2nd gen , not the stick. I don't have a 4k tv but plan on it in the next 6 months
Fire tv 2nd gen would still be more powerful overall.
I did some looking a few weeks ago,it would be just under the 2nd gen fire tv box but ahead of the dongle and cube.
I use a 2nd box gen on my main tv but got a couple of the new sticks for the other TVs
Does the 4k stick get noticably better wifi reception?
Yes if you use the extended HDMI dongle that comes with it.
So I will be able to watch 4k UA-cam videos on this? Also they should've added the track pad on this like the Apple TV does.
I use a Bluetooth remote called q9 which has a trackpad
Nick Perez yes and if tv is 4K and videos are in 4k
How to load UA-cam on fire tv stick
So is this what you use.to watch movies that just got released in theaters?
We love going to the movies but there's so many bed bug outbreaks, I'm terrified... lol
Is the 4K stick only for 4K tv
gives me trble downloading apps have to restart all the time for apps to download just got it today
The surround sound on the firetv 4K is terrible. I noticed that it’s like a night and day difference between the chromecast and the firetv. I love the remote but the low quality audio is a deal breaker for me.
Thanks for the review, I have the second gen stick now, I may go to this one, I really like the remote upgrade!!
I'm confused because when you are talking about the new remote on the Fire TV 4K stick at 5:06 operating the volume control, you can clearly see that the volume display comes up on the TV to the right. Yet later in the video when you are comparing performance, you said the Fire TV pendant is on the right and that the Fire TV 4K stick is on the left. Can you clarify which one was really on the right and which was really on the left? For real performance comparisons you should refer to the actual benchmarks AFTV did using Geekbench, PC Mark, GFX bench. The 2nd Gen Fire TV box still reigns supreme- it's too bad they didn't keep that processing power. The new Fire TV 4K does bench better than the pendant though. Nice video.
They are the same brand TV so the same IR remote will control both. The fire TV remote uses IR to control the TV.
@@CordCuttersNews ok- that makes sense, the remote wasn't pointing towards the left TV, that's why it didn't display. Thanks. I have the Fire TV 2 box, a couple pendants and a couple cubes and I just purchased the new 4K stick. They all work well, I like the processor power and the connectivity of the Fire TV 2 box, but I like the functionality of the cube- wish they would have put in better performing processor on the cube. Thanks again!
@@CordCuttersNews Still ideally if you can when you do a comparison it helps to identify on-screen which is which :) I had the same confusion as George at first, until it showed the 4k on screen on the left.
Help me with this. I just bought a 4K tv, I have a fire stick, and I want to upgrade to the 4K fire stick, but someone said I’ll just notice the difference between both in SPEED only, not quality image ( unless I pay for the 4K Netflix service) Is this true ? I may not expect true 4K but i want to believe overall quality image will be improved from fire stick to fire stick 4K.
Yes this is true, the 4k stick will display in 4k but if the app you are using does not output into 4k you will not see the difference. You will need the upgraded version of 4k netflix to see the difference. But apps like youtube or disney+ have 4k output and disney plus also has hdr uhd 4k support. Pretty amazing looking I just watched thor ragnnarock on it and it looked great.
Roku devices accept Xfinity streaming while the Amazon fire stick does not. Does the Amazon fire stick offer a similar alternative?
Why wouldn't the Amazon fire stick accept it?
Sean Prior nah I have it , it does support both devices
I already got the Firestick. But I won't use it yet until I get a new TV so I can installed the Firestick on the new TV. I don't care but I'm so ready to use it.
Does mouse mode work like second generation where it's a big circle....or is it like the cube with a smaller circle that doesn't click in what u point at.
Depends what resolution you choose
@@jhonv922 just like the fire TV cube it sucks have to down scaled to 1080 p 60. Hz then mouse mode works properly SMH.thats a downfall then they say 4 k is better but yet mouse mode dont work lol

I have a TCL roku TV not 4k will the 4k firestick work on it? I'm not interested in watching my movie in 4k just want to Kno will it work
Jay 777 yes
Two tips for everyone. If the remote stops working take the batteries and use an air can and aim it inside, this has fixed my remote on the model below this. Also I don't like how the stick runs all the time EVEN WHEN THE TV IS OFF!!!!!!!!!!! I have a surge protector with the TV and stick power cord plugged into it and every night I flip the switch off on the surge protector. Few times I didn't do it the stick was updating even when the TV was off! The generation before this runs kinda hot just to let you know. Flawless and love the unit though.
unplug the firestick from the wall cube and plug it into a usb port on the tv, then it will only be on when the tv is on. This stops if from over heating and running slow as fuck.
I have a 1st gen fire tv and and 2nd gen fire stick. the 1st gen fire stick is a lot better. I used to have to reset it all the time and was low on storage.
Can you mirror on or cast from your phone???
Yes.
I’m having problems trying to get volume working
what's up with no space on 4k
I have been wishing tha Amazon would make an enhanced remote similar to some Roku remotes, that powers on the TV, and controls the volume, now it's here. I don't need 4K, but this remote calls for an upgrade.
I have a legacy audio system that does not support dolby digital plus. The current fire tv allows dolby digital to be specifically selected allowing it to transcode the default amazon/netflix dolby digital plus to dolby digital. Does this latest fire tv stick have that option ?
Ken Wilkinson - correct, I didn't know why inside Kodi all The audio is DD-5.1, I know now for sure that it actually The Fire TV. 4K transcodes audio to 5.1 with The properly settings, and I mean all audio inside Kodi is 5.1, have you tried this yet?
No, I'm holding off buying until I know that it does have the ability to transcode. I've been caught before with the Roku Streaming Stick+ which doesn't transcode, at least not on the UK version.
Wesztar Drake - As I understand it the new fire stick has HDMI pass through upto dolby digital so if Kodi is sending DD5.1 does that not mean that fire TV is just using pass through rather than transcoding ?
Ken Wilkinson - I thought just The Same, but I guess is actually transcoding to 5.1 since all content inside Kodi is played in 5.1... and I mean everything is played like this. The feature is enabled with The DD-plus option, and inside Kodi enabling 2.0 audio for my soundbar and The transcode option to 5.1, besides obviously enabling passthrough of DD and DTS options. BUT if you disable transcode or DD-plus in The Fire TV external options, you will get only DD- pro Logic sound and passthrough DD only in The selected files. That's why I am telling you, it actually transcodes all sources to 5.1, but it only happens inside Kodi.
BTW! This happens to me with The Fire TV. 4K, IDK if this same will happen with Fire TV. Stick 4K, but I guess it should. I recommend to activate these options, if supported by your sound theater, audio clarity, depth and booming it's perfectly and dramatically increased, and even More noticeable than that when watching Netflix in 5.1.

Earl Jones not gonna lie but 8gbs is the standard for desktops and going over that isn't normally necessary unless you go super high end. Mobiles stick to around 2-4gbs of ram unless your going super high end... It's not that low when you consider that they have no reason to add more ram... I don't the fire TV really relies on high ram to run well. I currently have a 1st Gen stick (idk the ram of that) but I have no performance problems.

Im liking my 4k stick alot for what it does..what i DONT like is the quality of audio when listening to netflix or prime 5.1 dolby digital titles.. it sounds Soooo compressed and flat and lifeless..if i switch to stereo in firestick audio settings, the sound becomes dynamic and Big, but geez, its just 2 channel and i want That Big dynamic sound in 5.1 channel mode!... my reciever is a pioneer elite 140 watt per channel monster but it does not do DD+ only DD thru its hdmi...maybe the stick is transcoding the life out of the audio b4 passing to receiver? tried every setting, it still sucks..its like nite mode or some dynamic range compression was flattening the audio and theres no way to turn this off...wish there was a fix for this...ive got a prehistoric WD TV Live Plus that outputs netflix audio in 5,1 DD and it has the full dynamic range, it blows the firestick out of the water audio wise only. Im one of the few people out there that actually Wants high dynamic range in the movies i watch..i want the loud powerful explosions after quiet dialogue...I dont want eeverything compressed to the same lifeless level in a movie..
