    All alone in an alleyway
    Staring at my face
In the reflections of broken bottles
Didn't know I had this many scars
    I thought I'd won
    All my different battles
But I'm corrupt, I've got nothing left
Spent all my love trying to forget
Ignore your calls and I throw the phone away
Please believe me when I say

And the things I used to hold so close
    They burn
And the love that used to shine so bright
    Was shattered like a satellite
And the rain of stars to swallow me whole
    Like black holes
And I know that you try to stay
    But my awful ways
    You will never overlook
And all the things that hurt me
    They got no remedy
And they'll start hurting you too
Cause I'm corrupt, I've got nothing left
Spent all my love trying to forget

    I surrender in my defeat
    Don't hold on

@@JimGames It's not from first hand experience. I've seen two stories about how it came about, one was the struggle of a family friend going through addiction., the other was that Pau read something in a newspaper and writing it based on that.
They've written music on a lot of difficult subjects, but that's because they like to read and have a lot of imagination, not because they've had hard lives. I can't find the reference, but they've said that they've experienced very little of what they've written music about and have actually led very happy and comfortable lives. There are a few exceptions; Narcisista is a slap back at some people in Mexico who are unhappy that they hadn't written anything in Spanish (and from what I've seen, the song is actually very popular there); When I'm Alone was written by Dany when they were at Berklee for 5 weeks and she was feeling very homesick and also had a song due as an assignment the next morning; I don't know whether they've said so, but Fade Away (which is a happy and very inspiring song) was written by Pau and from what I've read I suspect it was her telling off people who didn't believe she could do what she has done.
Bottom line, the heartbreaking thing is that addiction happens and is as destructive as it is, not that Pau has gone through some kind of personal trauma. She (all of them, really) is just very bright, has a lot of creativity, and a lot of empathy.

A note, their songs tend to have deeper meaning & be darker than the average pop stuff.
They generally use backing tracks that they pre-record if they need an extra instrument so if Pau is doing keys she may have some drum sounds she pre-recorded to accent the performance. That's also how they have keys accompanying when they are playing the instruments you see. Normally, Pau has their whole set list loaded in the laptop that is beside her. From that she runs Ableton10 & MIDI tracks they record to go with their live performances. She also has presets programmed for the Helix pedal boards, their click track, background graphics and pretty much anything else. She has been using that sort of software for over a year now and has become quite good at it though she says she still has a lot to learn. Pau is the gear geek of the group though Dany has also put a lot of effects into her Helix board. They both have gear videos out where they go into details about the setup.
BTW, all 3 sisters play piano/keys and all 3 can sing lead though Ale, the bass player and youngest, prefers not to sing lead. Of course on the rare occasion that she needs to she does a very good job while still being exceptional on the bass. Since this video she has moved up to a 5 string custom bass by Spector.

Nice reaction! The singer, age 15 in this performance, wrote this song at the age of thirteen, about the struggles of addiction that a family friend was going through. She also wrote an incredible love song at age thirteen called "Show Me The Light". The Warning are sisters, Paulina, on piano, Alejandra, on bass, and Daniela, on guitar. They are from Monterrey, in northern Mexico.
I want to correct a statement you made. Alejandra had been playing the bassline to "Hysteria" since she was eight years old, first performing it in front of an audience at 9. She did the overhand trick at the Liceo show just to show off her capabilities.
Thank you for reacting to The Warning!! I look forward to more from this amazing band!

Yes The Warning are three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico that started making music very young Alejandra (Ale = Aleh, not the beer. Bass, backing vocals and keyboard, the youngest- 16 as of March 2021) and Paulina (Pau = Pow. Drums, backing/lead vocals and keyboard, middle sister 19 as of March 2021) at 3 and Daniela (Dany = Dany. Guitar, lead vocals and keyboard, the oldest 21 as of March 2021). They have an EP and two albums (With another on the way) of original songs plus a single, Narcisista that was released in June of 2019.
this song Black Holes (Don't Hold On) is a very popular song from their debut album XXI Century Blood. This was written by Pau when she was 13, as with most of their songs she gets inspiration and ideas for songs from reading and their own imagination. To be so young and tackle songs that are so grown up in both topic and composition is incredible.

Good comments. When Ale played over the top in the Muse song, she was showing off. That's extra hard to do. There is a video of them rehearsing Hysteria and she plays it with normal fingering, so no need for playing over the top of the bass. In the concert at their school, each person had a song where they got to show off. Hysteria was Ale's show off song.

Adding a note here for you Jim. In the Hysteria cover The Warning did little Ale on the bass was not playing overhand because her hands were too small. This is a technique she learned as a confident bassist- almost showing off. You will note later in the song she is no longer playing over the neck of the bass. She did that in all the performances of Hysteria back then. Pro bassists have reacted to her and noted that that was a sign of confidence and a little showmanship.

    • @douglastt100
      @douglastt100 3 роки тому +2

Nice, objective comment. She wears that mic because she's really the drummer and is very animated on the drums. Since she sings lead on some songs and backing vocals on pretty much most of the rest of their catalogue she has to use it. No way she could sing and play drums using a stand mounted or boom mic, she just moves way too much. I wish she could get rid of the headset mic because it does rob her of some of the richness of her sound. I suppose she could and probably should for the one or two ballads where she comes out from behind the kit and plays keys.

    • @johnnyrokkit
      @johnnyrokkit 3 роки тому +1

@@douglastt100 yeah I think for backups from behind the kit it's acceptable - I get your point about being animated behind a kit. For a song like this, though, where she is standing and singing lead from a keyboard they really should get her a good mic on a stand. The quality of the audio on her vocals was bad enough to be a distraction unfortunately. Thanks for the comment! 🤘🏼

@@johnnyrokkit Agreed. It's too bad because she has a very good, interesting voice. It's not technically the greatest, but there's something about the rasp, her range, along with how she emotes and her showmanship that grabs your attention and keeps it. And, she's not even the main lead singer. Be well.
