Microsoft surface pro 6 screen replacement - model 1796. Very Delicate, be WARNED!

A detailed guide to change the screen on a Microsoft Surface pro 5 or 6. The original screen had a broken backlight and after reinstalling drivers and firmware it was still black. The screen was also getting very hot in the corner indicating damage. If you want to attempt the repair be very carful and follow the instructions very carefully as it is easy to damage internal components.

Did this myself, tablet continues to function but touch doesn't work anymore. Tried reseating the connector several times, but no luck. So it was a 50% success, I guess...

Great explanations, thanks for the video. I see all these video changing all the LCD screen. Is it possible to change the glass only, in case the LCD works well?

No, they are laminated

Backlight is dead or turned down. Try adjusting backlight, if no effect check connections or the unit is faulty
