@@TheFixTech yup, figured it out already but thank you! Tested Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and even though I basically tore them off everything is still working! I was surprised but felt confident enough to glue down the screen and move on… hope it continues to work or I’ll be doing this whole job again!
@@JPaulston Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. The display on my Surface Pro is damaged and I'm planning to try replacing it myself. But I don't know if that will help, because you can now get it used very cheaply. And I don't know whether I'll be able to open it properly and replace it.
6:24 I am trying to use another 1796 screen from another surface. Do I need to transfer the cables from the old screen ? Or can I just use another as-is cable attached screen from the other surface?
I keep reading that replacing the screen on the Surface is extremely difficult and often leads to other problems but you made it look pretty easy and straight forward...Can you confirm it shoudln't be too difficult for someone with experience replacing smartphone displays (i.e. iphone displays)? Thanks in advance
I’m buying just the glass screen since the digitizer still works. So it’s the same process? Just swap out broken glass screen from digitizer and replace with the new? Thanks
Had an unbroken screen but needed to replace the touch controller inside, started from the right speaker, heated it up, started with pry tool, now i have a shattered screen and no touch 😂 i give up, it can go in the trash haha
Hello my friend, do you have any idea why ¿if i change the screen for a new one the touch area test doesn't function? What can i do? thank you! Best regards.
you all prolly dont care but does anybody know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Grant Brandon I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I have surface pro 6 1796, do i need to buy LCD screen for ''Microsoft Surface Pro 5 1796 '' or ''Microsoft Surface Pro 6 1807''. I cant find my model any where to buy.
Nice video. just got a pro5 off ebay. and realised the top of the screen just under the camera, is not responsive. Cannot select tabs or minimise window. Quite annoying.
You should wear gloves for a bit of insulation against the heat gun, and you should be sticking in plastic strips as the blade initially separates the screen from the tablet shell. You can chop up those cheap plastic food containers into small plastic strips. Still, you did a great job!!
What does the green tape around the camera do? I might have slit it a bit Edit: I had no choice to rip a good junk of them, the glue did not want to separate from the green tape
Is there a difference with ordering a new screen for surface pro 6 1796, I was told they couldn't quote me until they take off the screen to see if there are 30 or 40 points inside (something to do with charging), I have never heard this before.
please also show my Chanel i use plastic film from demage Laptop Screen. it es perfect. Do not use this glue because it is difficult to open again. I also had made video about this
Nice! I came here for the cable swap and you showed it brilliantly!
This is a straight forward repair, please let me know if you have any questions regarding this repair.
How much would you charge for a repair for cracked screen
Thanks for a clear, straightforward video. You made it look easy enough for me to try. Thanks again. :)
Great guide, helped me to replace the screen on my Surface 6; thank you
TQ so much for the video, help me a lot in replacing the broken hinge. The screen is crazy glue tight. Takes a lot of patience and heating.
Be super careful around the cable corner. You can easily damage the flex cables even if you nick them just a little bit, especially the touch cable.
10:16 what are the copper plates on the top? That was where my screen was cracked and they came off with the adhesive while removing the glass…
Those are usually the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antennas

@@JPaulstonHey, does it still work? :D
No, the Wi-Fi failed after a couple weeks. Needed to use it in a dock… ended up getting a new 9

Kinda screwed up the adhesive-during removal- any suggestions for replacement adhesive?
Hello thank you for this video ! It’s very helpful !
Can you tell me from where I can order the screen ?
Thank you in advance !
I buy from reputable local sellers on ebay
@@TheFixTech how is the quality?
Can you please share the link to the eBay page that you bought the screen from?
MobileSentrix is where I get them. They even come with new adhesive pre installed

The 1796 screens are all the same for the 5th and 6th gens. Some 4th gen used the 5/6 screens. That is probably what they are referring.
It wasn’t too difficult, the antenna was damaged on mine to begin with…
so quiet?

After swapping the screen out, the new screen has no touch response. I tried 2 different parts. Any ideas what may cause this?
The cable isn't in all the way.
stop gluing back screen.........
