this repair should not be difficult. the process of replacing the screen takes about an hour. 56 minutes is what I timed myself .. the trick to this is taping duct tape around the perimeter, leave about half an inch recess from edge of surface to duct tape as this is where heat will be applied for screen removal,

I bought it as second hand everything work good but it's crack in middle still work fine but the touch, window icon and half screen not work with pen.
should I change intier screen or what?

I have a new screen where the touch doesn't work, any tips?
I opened mine up with a perfectly fine display, put everything back together, and the touch and pen also aren't working. Visually, everything looks good, I feel like I didn't break anything, yet it refuses to work with the completely original hardware. Checked the device manager and the touch screen drivers are missing, and loading into UEFI mode the touchscreen doesn't work there either. I'm starting to feel like Microsoft pulled an Apple where as soon as you unplug it, it bricks itself. Either that, or I'm really really really stupid and messed something up.

Can you install the touchscreen driver through network and try?
@@RubberTag I have a replacement PCB and flex cable ordered and I'll see if that fixes it. Resetting the system, using the Microsoft firmware & driver updater didn't fix anything

@@RubberTag Thank you so much! I pray that it does work, as I need to be able to use the pen for illustration. Several hours of research and this seems to be a common problem for the surface pro line of tablets, yet everyone either exchanges their devices or never find a solution. I honestly am unsure why my touch stopped operating because the functionality had been perfect for 3 years. I might have tugged on the flex cable too much or heated the digitizer PCB too much when trying to remove the display without cracking it. Honestly, I'm willing to settle on user error being the problem instead of now being stuck with a half useless tablet that's unfixable.
If it gives any extra indication of what's going on, the Windows "Pen and Touch Info" page says 'No or touch input available for this display', so I'm guessing it straight up isn't even responding to the system at all because that's what all my other non-touch computers show. I thought maybe since I unplugged the display from power, that the UEFI / BIOS was never able to reinitialize the drivers, but this repair video (which is like, one of the best on UA-cam to be honest) doesn't have that issue. Out of all the non-replacable parts in these surface tablets, I'm actually genuinely surprised the digitizer and flex cables are the most available. I'll try to keep you posted.
Im curious to know what prevents from taping tape over the screen so that the screen is lifted using the tape. The screen is already broken and going to the trash. Every video regarding sp7 screen replacement picks the screen off creating a mess of broken glass shards. Maybe I am not seeing the factor that prevents from taping tape.
On my Pro 7+, there are 2 horizontal lines of less than 1 cm, where the stylus is not working anymore... If I delete the drivers and restart the problem persists. Is that the digitizer that has to be replaced?
Is the digitizer of the Pro 7 compatible to be used on a pro7+, they seem to have identical screens.

Hi, I am having a problem with my surface pro 7, the dead screen comes on and off, especially when the tablet heats up after being on for a while, I am absolutely positive that the culprit is the magnetic microswich that is being actioned by the magnet inside the keyboard, so the LCD turns off when you bring the keyboard close to the screen, that microswich in time, due to heat and battery expansion went bad and makes the tablet acting up even with the keyboard detached, the microswich thinks that the keyboard is close to the screen, that's why the screen doesn't turn on...
I am wondering if you we're ever able to locate it?... On mine I have not taking it apart yet, I would like to identify, locate and order a new one if am I ever going to be able to find one, if not I might just remove it and solder the wires together and have the screen on all the time...
Without taking it apart, the microswich is on the right hand side, just a little below the right speaker, I was able to pin point it with a small magnet, but I did some research online and in all the pictures that I've seen I just couldn't identify it...
Any thoughts on it?!
sounds like a hard repair you would need to take the screen off which is hard
@@NewsonsElectronics I don't know if I'm ready to mess with it, I think it's just a heavy loss and treat it accordingly. No more Microsoft products.
The touch screen isn't working but all the cables are plugged in any suggestions?

I replaced my screen but now when it heats up it gets lines all through it and windows still look open after I close them...any suggestions for a fix?

@@gmacedo94 yes...I lowered the brightness of the display so it doesn't heat up as much.
Hardly an "ultimate guide" - you missed some key details, like how to remove and replace the metal cover on the digitizer circuitry, and avoiding to damage the antennae whilst removing the old screen...
