I am Philip Dehany, one of the several victims who were stalked by former BBC presenter Alex Belfield, which led to him being jailed for five and a half years.
I was invited to talk live on BBC Radio Nottingham to presenter Sarah Julian about my experience being harassed by Alex Belfield, and how it impacted my family and I, and why I am now taking legal action against Belfield.
The interview was broadcast live on Tuesday 28th August 2023, on BBC Radio Nottingham.
My Story:
I was one of the several victims attacked and harassed by Alex Belfield, because of my sexuality.
I spoke out about him to combat homophobia and am now trying to raise £15,000 to seek acknowledgment, an apology and damages.
I have already paid over £5,500 in legal fees, and now need to continue to raise £15,000 to pay for the Particulars of Claim.
If you are able to continue to support me, by sharing my story, thank you.
I am raising money through Crowd Justice. All the money raised will go directly to Samuel Solicitors.

Who I Am:
I am Philip Dehany and I need your help. I was a theatre blogger and am now a volunteer for the Terrence Higgins Trust.
I am one of the several victims who were harassed by former BBC presenter Alex Belfield, which led to him being jailed for five and a half years. After his trial concluded, but before he was sentenced, Belfield publicly revealed information about my HIV status. I am now claiming compensation from him in the civil courts, under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
Belfield’s awful campaign of harassment against me, (much of which was directed at my sexuality) continued even during and after his trial. He constantly published harassing videos about me and others, and made a lot of money from UA-cam advertising revenue and by asking for donations from his followers.
The impact upon me has been huge - my reputation has been seriously damaged and I lost my passion, confidence and ultimately my income as a theatre blogger. I am now seeking therapy.
Unless Belfield agrees to settle with me, which seems very unlikely, I will have no choice but to issue court proceedings against him and my costs to take the matter all the way to trial could reach £100,000.
Although being convicted for stalking and settling a defamation claim with Jeremy Vine, Belfield still refuses to acknowledge the damage he causes to me.
Please help me to raise legal fees to claim compensation from ex BBC presenter Alex Belfield who harassed and stalked me, and then threatened “he’d be back”.

Glad the message is getting out. No one should go thro what you’ve been thro.
There’s a lot more to come out!! I just can’t talk about it all yet.
@@iamthat give it a rest Alex belfield did nothing wrong I was going to give up not now
@@The_Uninivited_Guest what do you mean
@@iamthat how more years are you going to talk about Alex belfield
@@adammarshall9077 I don’t know Adam, just depends how long Belfield strings this all out before realising he does not have a defence, cannot win, and agrees to settle.
I remember this happening to you during covid - glad it’s all settled down
Well done, and its great folk are listening and helping to get your side out there.
Thavk you Gareth, hope you’re well. X
@@iamthat Yeah im ok ta,i hope you are, even though all this is happening.
@@iamthat can't you leave Alex belfield alone

@@adammarshall9077 aw hi Adam, how are you? Hope you’re having a lovely day x
Well done Philip for getting an interview on Belfield’s local radio station. Glad you now feel able to talk about it publicly.
Thanks Emma. It’s still not easy to talk about, but I’m not going to give up until I win.
@@iamthat Win what?? I might have known this vile Helium supporter would be egging you on!!
@@alisonriley763 until I win the civil case against Belfield for harassment. I thought you would have stopped this by now Alison after your little stunt back fired. I know what Trisha Gelder said, Belfield was not a scapegoat, he is a stalker, and as she said he is a “narassisict” and a “pathological liar”. You need to stop playing the victim and admit you backed the wrong horse.
@@zuluwarrior1648 oh wow, I didn’t realise you were such an expert in my case, are you suggesting that Belfield will win this case because by saying he’s Christian? Please.
He tried pretending he felt “sorry for me because I had a life long condition” he tried claiming by being “a member of the LBGTO+ community” meant he cannot have acted with hostility based on my sexual orientation.
He tried lying by “suggesting he had finally acknowledged the distress caused to his victims.”
He tried being commended for “the work he does in the community.”
He even tried suggesting he had 9 employees, he needed to continue to support.
None of it stopped him from being arrested. None of it stopped him from being charged. None of it stopped him from being found guilty. None of it stopped him from being sentenced.
Belfield is in prison for stalking me, please do explain to me, how (in your infinite wisdom and experience) you think Belfield will have any deference, and win in my case of harassment?
@@alisonriley763 It’s called support Alison. Unlike you, I prefer to support victims of crime and not the perpetrators. As Philip said, you backed the wrong horse with Belfield.
Good to hear you're standing up to this nasty little parasite. Stay strong, Philip.
Thank you! I appreciate it x
What was his motive for stalking people?
We’ll never know. Belfield refused to give evidence.
Oh dear
Stick and stones.
boring
😂 how long did it take you to come up with that?
