Alexis Conran is joined by Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and Rick Kelsey to discuss.

I’m 20 but I’m completely against going cashless. Sometimes the old ways are just simply the best ways
Yep
I absolutely agree with the "elderly" woman! And I'm more elderly at 74. I'm in the US but here...I live in an apartment but I have to pay my rent online. No checks, no money orders, and definitely no cash (I understand no cash - risk of robbery). The apartment complex is "gated" but I have to have a phone to get some kind of app that will allow me to open the gate. Forget about getting personal service at a bank. They direct you to the website.
Well, fact is, many "elderly" don't have phones that can accommodate all those apps. I have a few friends that have basic "flip-style" phones. And as she stated, my eyesight isn't what it was a few years ago. My fine motor skills are all that great for those little-bitty numbers. Not to mention, when everything goes online, the scams start. Buy gas at a gas station and your card is skimmed. Takes weeks to get your money back. If ever. Everything on line? Then the scam calls begin and elderly are most prone to being scammed.
Frankly, I don't think the world wants us anymore. But the secret? Everyone will be elderly one day.
Well said respect from 🇬🇧
I don't think elderly are being discriminated against. I think they are being totally ignored and not considered at all when it comes to new stuff being introduced.
It is discrimination against older people and poor people who can not afford to buy a smartphone.
How on earth can it be legal to ban the use of legal tender?!
Try being 80 with no intention of getting a smart phone!
Yep but the gov dont care

Cashless, totally? No thank you. I'm old and bank online etc, but this idea is not the way to go. Someone else then has total access and control over your money. What could possibly go wrong?
Hasnt she left the country yet said she would leave when boris become pm hes been gone a couple of years shes still here
Accessibility issues aside (which, while being valid, should be countered by the fact that smartphones are packed with accessibility features), there has to be some element of personal responsibility taken here by people using their age as an excuse.
I’ve been using online banking for 23 years, the internet for nearly 30. This is decades in which people could have started, at their own pace, to learn these new technologies.
While I have sympathy for people, a lot of this just comes across as bloody-mindedness to me.
You very much sound like a fool' no disrespect it's probably your age.
Stuff the cashless society. In fact stuff society altogether . Count me out.
