    It's important to note the zx4r in North America is detuned to 56hp for emissions, in Europe it makes up to 79hp. This would make the performance a lot closer to the gsx8r.
    American zx4r can be modified to get the full potential.

      Also a the 4 pot is actually making a lot of emissions just by being a 4 pot, so one of the thing they use to reduce the emissions is actually a restrictive exhaust. Most bike increase their hp by a lot with full exhaust kit, but moreso on this bike.

      what was reely holding back early 70s cars was leaded gas. cant use a catlylitic converter with leaded gas. all they had was just goofy air injection and a whole bunch of ideas that didn't work. any emissions regulation hurt power a ton. onec leaded gas was out and they discovered cats and the oil crisis was over power came back.

      @@LordHolley The difference in potential between the two is massive. You'd be lucky to get another 8hp with a full exhaust and high flow intake/tune with the 8R which there are ZX-4RRs out there with a full exhaust, intake and tune getting around 90hp to the crank or 81hp to the wheel. The 8R is closer to traditional tuning for emissions which doesn't gain nearly as much as the ZX which really wakes up when it gets back 4.5K RPM of its rev range back. You don't even have to tune the ZX per se, just turn off the fuel limiting at 11.5K and it explodes to life nearly doubling its power.

    After coming back to riding after 30 years (last bike was a TZR250) I wanted a bigger bike but also understood I am new again and wanted something that I could grow into but not be to brutal. Also I have a 28" inseam so lower bike needed.
    I did consider the ZX4RR (in UK its more powerful) but decided on a 24 CBR650R (red of course). Which I dont think is out in the US yet.
    Happy with my choice, I wanted an inline 4 as closer to my old 2 stroke style, less power down low and then takes off :).
    So far so good. Enjoying the bike and at 94hp its fun when you wind it up.

      @rightwingsafetysquad9872 8 місяців тому +5

      @cottleful On the contrary, the ZX-4R is perfect for near beginners. It's not so fast that they'll be more focused on not dying than learning. And it has plenty of capability to grow into. A personal anecdote: I started on a Ninja 500. After 2 months, I upgraded to a Daytona 675. I learned more in 2 hours on the Daytona than I did in 2 months on the Ninja. I was not nearly good enough to use all of Daytona's capability. But the bike was good enough to allow me to more comfortably explore what I was capable of.
      I would never buy a new Ninja 400 unless you really like that class and want to stay there. If it's for learning, plenty of other people have already done that, just buy their used bike. True beginners should start on something cheap and used so not as much is lost when they inevitably drop it. After a very short period with the learner bike, get what you want - probably not a liter or giant bagger - but otherwise, get what you want.
      Something being "too good" is never a reason to tell someone else to not buy it.

    I have found that I enjoy shifting a lot on twisty mountain roads, so I will often prefer a lower-powered vehicle for those roads. Something about the need to shift to keep in the powerband makes it seem that I am more a part of the performance. Even though a more powerful vehicle with a larger torque band that needs less shifting will be faster, it will be less fun, at least for me. I learned this with cars. My Father had an old MG Midget with something like 65hp that required a lot of shifting on twisty roads. It FELT faster on the twisty roads than my current car (Focus ST) even though it was not.

      The crank goes around twice for every power stroke. So its 270-450-270-450 etc. A 180 degree crank would go 360-360-360-360.

      @@DogmaticShrew But how is it better?

    • @Expertshot777
      @Expertshot777 8 місяців тому +7

      It is mostly a noise and vibration difference. A 270 degree crank has the same firing interval as a 90 degree V-twin like a SV650 or Ducati. To most peoples ears, the uneven firing interval of a 90 degree V-twin or 270 parallel twin sounds alot nicer than a 180 paralell twin which sounds like a lawn mower engine. 270 degree twins also do not have the awful rocking couple of a 180 degree twin (or not to the same extent) so they are generally less buzzy to ride on the highway. The reason they cost more is due to manufacturing as 270 degree twins require a twisting process during forging which is more expensive.
      But in terms of power and torque per cc theres is very little difference. 270 degree twins can generally be made larger due to the better balance though. Think africa twin 1100.
      Last difference is in torque pulses. The uneven firing interval is said to improve traction and make it easier to reach the limit. (Think yamaha cross plane vs traditional I4s. or big bang engines in motogp). However with small capacity bikes like these that can barely break traction, it is not a concern.
      Thanks for listening to my rant

    I ditched my traditional Japanese bikes and dived into the Chinese market. Love the CFmoto 450ss thus far and it's a great choice for new street riders with some experience in dirt, scooters and or already did their permit class. Test rode one during a demo and bought a new one the same day. Parts is still an issue but healtech, yoshimura, Vandemon, DNA air filters etc... are bringing big name brands to a newish U.S Chinese motorcycle. It gave an experience rider such as myself everything I wanted, Sporty look, lowish clips ons, brembo front brake, 50HP and much more out of a small little fun packed 270 degree parallel twin, 449cc engine; Price wise it beats everyone on the market. If you can't afford these two amazing bikes in the video, I personally recommend the 450ss.

    Vast majority of beginner riders will buy used bikes because they are affordable. For $10k you could get some damn nice used bikes…hyabusa, cbr1000rr, Ducati 1199, s1000rr, gsxr1000r, zx10r, R1, Concours 14, all for the same price or less than these new ‘squirts’. Yes I know these aren’t starters but that’s the point… Starter bikes should be $2-5k based on performance value.

    I would think for street the Gsx8r and for a full on track build/bike the ZX4rr. However, not sure what class they will allow the Zx4r though.... I raced @ CMRA (Texas) a ninja 400 in the Light weight twins, 500 class, and D superstock. I raced a R7 in LWT, D superstock, D superbike.
    The ZX4r would not qualify for LWT or 500 class. So maybe it would race in D class? So from a racing stand point, would suck not have very many different races to do with the ZX4r. Several race guys I know with ZX4r's have had issues with the tuning to get decent power out of the bikes.
    Still the best bikes for new riders are a used R3 or used ninja 400.

    Having a GSX8R, the biggest bang for the buck, is to change the tires to Road 6's or whatever. Then all the road feel is there and amazing grip is yielded. Worth the $400.

    Video için teşekkürler
    Nihayet bu iki güzel motorun kıyas videosuna kavuştuk sayenizde❤
    Zx4rr bir çok kıyasta geride kalmasına rağmen 8r ın 776cc gücüne karşın çokta güzel performans sağlıyor hemde 400cc ile. Sesinin güzelliği ise direkt cezbediyor. Güzelliğini de söylemeye gerek yok sanırım. 8r güzel motor fakat far tasarımı kötü bana göre. Ayrıca kuyruk tasarımı da kötü. Ama güzel makina videoda gördük.
    Aynı fiyat diliminde bu iki makinadan birini seçmek zor.
    Benim gönlüm geride kalmasına rağmen tasarımı, sesi ve yarış pisti performansı nedeniyle zx4rr❤dan yana.
