This composition stands out for its complex structure, dynamic range, and evocative phrasing. It's truly one of the ultimate modern classical guitar pieces that showcases Dyens' genius. I’ve always admired how this piece takes the listener on a journey, and it challenges the guitarist in unique ways.

Beautiful! I don't think it's possible to name the ultimate guitar piece in any genre. There are so many criteria for choosing one that there must be so many contenders. Bach, who has so many pieces beautiful for guitar but written for lute or other instruments, making them so difficult at times, removes those for me. Yet, they are my favourite.
@@lucydayLucida thank you. I agree. As an art, you can’t compare. It’s all very subjective, which is what makes it so great.
Dyens was a true genius. I personally rank him among the likes of those two other giants of the guitar: Tárrega and Barrios. A piece of his I recommend you trying to push your playing even more is 'Vals des Loges', a marvellous waltz with a (of course) jazzy vibe. Its PDF can be found online.
I agree. I got to spend some time with Dyens at a guitar camp around 2002, and he was truly one of the greats. He was outgoing with a bright personality. I’m familiar with Vals des Loges and might give it a try one day. I have so many pieces on my list right now, but more to come soon. Thanks for the suggestion.
Genius isn’t too grand a word to describe Dyens. I place him with the likes of Villa Lobos in his understanding of the uniqueness of the guitar and how to use it in modern music.
