Hello from Virginia, USA. I'm a retired guitar technician of over 45 years experience. I know good work when I see it. This series of 2 videos impressed me. First class work. I'm especially impressed with the way you dealt with the "finger notches" in the neck. Beautiful!
do you think it was from wearing rings, using a capo or cut away for very small hands? I'm thinking constant capo usage and being knocked around with it left on.
As a woodworker myself, I’m very impressed by your expert use of all the varied tools and techniques involved in woodworking. I especially enjoy your work with hand tools. Awesome skills on display here. I find that having an air compressor, with a hose hanging nearby makes blowing dust and particles out of the way so much easier than manually blowing them from your work surface.
Wow! That was top notch! Not only was that an expert repair job, the fact that you recorded that entire process and edited it in a way that was entertaining and made sense is thoroughly impressive!
why is it always so fascinating to watch a craftsman work? I never intend to watch the whole video but before I realize, it's 30 minutes later and I'm still watching.
I find it interesting to watch someone with the skill to repair something that I couldn't possibly fix. 30 minutes to watch a video is a small investment of my time. That's condensed from hours of actual work.
Me too… I totally agree. Her attention to detail and creative problem-solving is beyond words! I took a few screenshots and I am sure I will be using her “grain detail technique” in a future project!!! Bravo!! 👏👏👏
Aside from the obvious level of skill involved it was like a whole new finger board was made, it was beautifully conditioned into a much darker piece of rosewood. Outstanding!.

Hi. This guitar repair is the first time I've seen your channel. You are truly skilled. You do so many things that I would never have thought of. Thanks for the tips and ideas!! In Italy, with the cost of labor, it was convenient to buy a new Martin 😊. But your work is a masterpiece. I wish PEACE for you and your people, you are not alone.
Beautiful restoration work on the guitar. I can’t believe that a guitar was played so often that it wore nearly 1cm finger grooves into the neck. I’m torn. On one hand, it is such a sign of respect to restore the guitar so lovingly. On the other hand, the finger grooves is a badge of honour as it shows the thousands of hours that someone practiced and played on that one guitar. I’m sad to see the visible signs of all that practice disappear.
Wow. That's what I call restoration 👌 👏 😍 👍 I've seen plenty of videos like this, and most of the time people would just buy new parts, put them together and pretend that to be restoration!
There is one thing I can say: when Kurt Russel broke that guitar in the movie Hateful Eight, it was said there is no one who can repair it. they should have ask you to do it :) Amazing work!
Wonderful restoration. I think that the neck recesses made certain chords easier for the owner, but they gave the guitar a beauty that was unmatched. I would have left them out, given the compromise between restoration and the personal history of the instrument, and the Martin would have been a rarity with a much greater value. In any case, thank you for teaching me how to restore guitars. I usually do it slowly, with ideas that come to me after years and with old woods from the forest.
You wanted a comment and subscribe. This is my first time seeing your channel. That busted sad guitar was brought back from the kindling pile was a miracle of hand craftsmanship.
What an amazing restoration on a guitar that any other luthier would have written off as a total loss! AMAZING! And your fret work is second to none in the world!😃
One day, when the war is won, somebody will make a movie. I hope they put you in it, patiently solving these unfathomable problems, using your skills and all the tools to restore musical instruments to life. It's quite poetic, and very inspiring.

That´s the most insane neck/fret board repair I´ve ever seen. I had no idea that this is even possible to do so. Great craftsmanship and focus on details. 10/10 👍
Beautiful job. There were a couple of stages where it looked like a possible horror story, but the result is fantastic. The step of recreating mahogany grain at 17:28 got me smiling. Congrats for saving a gorgeous instrument.
WOW what a wonderful work of art restoration of a badly damaged guitar, your patience and care you put into your work is stunning. The sound was beautiful and mellow, you should be very proud of your workmanship Tanya. I look forward to seeing many more of your projects John ❤❤
Tanya, I'm not thrilled with your technique for stringing a classical guitar; however, I am completely in tune with every technique you employed to make this instrument ready to be strung and tuned to proper pitch. You are amazing to watch. Thank you for posting your work. I became disabled 17 years ago and must now live vicariously through people like you, who post things on You tube of the things I loved and used to do (instruments, motorcycles and woodworking of all kinds). Again, excellent work, and thank you for taking me back to what I loved doing when I had all of my limbs; no, not a power tool or motorcycle accident. I'm thrilled to subscribe and will visit you often for my fixing fix. As you were shaping the bone nut, I could smell the bone dust. I miss that smell as well as the aroma of hot hide glue in my shop. I'll stop there as this is about you and your great work.
I'm not gonna to lie, I saw a trainwreck, a total catastrophe, a complete write off, and I thought "well lets see where this goes"....and then I witnessed a resurrection!! Extremely awesome job bringing that poor instrument, that had been played into oblivion, back to life!
Outstanding work, Tanya! You’ve become a big inspiration for my own restoration projects, though my nails will never look as good as yours. You breathed life into an instrument that was probably going to be thrown away. I’ll be adding your videos to my list of favorites.

Your attention to detail is A craft in itself, Your skill and technics are superior and a lost art these days, You are Gifted , Thank you for sharing .
Beautiful work as always. It's inspiring to see someone take the time and care to repair what many folks might have thrown away. And the way you leave in the little mistakes and the noises you make when you mess something up make everything more human. Thank you for doing this and letting us watch.
Nice job. Years ago I was inspired to make a "paring chisel" from an article a Tennessee Guitar maker did where he was making paring chisels for his work. I still have two custom Damascus chisel blades I need to make handles for. Anyway, your video brought back memories of having those two chisel blades made. Thanks for the video.
That was a neat trick with the frets going onto the tape, obviously the rest of the work was exemplary, fixing the grain into the neck was also very skilfully done!.

Thank you for using your craft to resurrect these wonderful instruments. They would otherwise be lost to the scrap heap. In a stressful world, watching you work is calming and satisfying.
You are a brilliant craftsman.... an artist that is detailed and caring towards that Martin. You don't just see another guitar. You see a damaged work of art, and take the challenge on to restore it.

At first I didn´t realize it was the part 2. I was thinking 'why so much work on its arm?' But after when I saw the guitar top I immediatly have realised which guitar was. This is an incredible result with a pure sound of the guitar at the end. Great!
It’s really good to see your work and how you preserve guitars that would have been just thrown away. There’s something satisfying about doing this sort of thing, I know I do it myself - I trawl the junk shops for anything that looks like it would make something out of it rather than being in a sorry state. Things like this can be given to people who really want something but don’t have the money to buy a good one!
Tanya……I repair, refinish, and rebuild old pianos for a living. It is interesting to see the overlap of some of the repairs we do on instruments. Good job….!!!
Honestly, it’s truly gratifying to see a guitar that’s been so well used. It’s far better to have it well-played than just hanging on a wall somewhere. But your restoration of this guitar is still super nice to see. Amazing work!
I have heard about putting your foot through the drum, but not a guitar. This video has been fascinating and reduced in time but I am certain this was a labour of love and as an experiment into what you can do to a guitar in an attempt to destroy it yet still rebuild. Amazing work I really look forward to hearing the Martin being played again. Happy shavings
Over all with the amount of damage that this guitar had when you started it is very impressive that you brought it back to a good looking playable condition. It also sounds quite nice. Nicely done very nicely done.

Utterly fascinating and a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work
Over all with the amount of damage that this guitar had when you started it is very impressive that you brought it back to a good looking playable condition. It also sounds quite nice. Nicely done very nicely done.
Entertainment on high level!! With all its difficult damages and this result!! You are amazing!! Take care and good luck! Peters Övik Sweden
