Hey Arkshon Esports, in an episode in the future can you guys take a look at the "Super Clash of Ninja 4" fighting game? It a modded competitive fighter based on the Clash of Ninja games on the Gamecube. The community has a already gone to Combo Breaker in 2022 and will be going again this year.
Great video and thanks for taking the time to showcase the Advance Wars community! I know it couldn't make it into this video, but our most recent tournament actually hit 1216 players! With Reboot Camp coming out next month, who knows where we'll be after that. =)
I never played much back on the GBA since it was the renting days of video games since I was a kid. But I am definitely looking forward to Reboot Camp!

Truly an amazing story of success! Starting out as a project built out of love for a game, and becoming the biggest AW Community to date! Here's to more success to come!
This game accompanied me through many moves, as an army brat. The GBA was a huge blessing and one of the best things about my childhood. I am so happy that this game lives on.
I was one of the players who started playing this game in the first surge of popularity as well, and I've been playing ever since. This game has so much depth to it that despite years of playing, every game brings something new!
I think accessibility is one of its greatest strength. It's free to play and can be run in practically any modern device. That's pretty much a great foundation of a live service game.
I suck at strategy games but advance wars will always have a special place in my heart. I remember playing my gameboy advance before and after school, just playing advance wars. Thanks to this video I didn't know about the esports scene and about awbw
What an incredible piece on the Advance Wars scene, I remember playing the EARLY days of AWBW when it operated seemingly like Pokemon Crater. Such a legendary series for tactics lovers
I think there's alot of people out there like me who loved playing this game as a kid, but had their experiences back in the early 2000s. If only I'd know about such a website. Thank you for using your reach to publicize this community for all those who would love to contribute.
Was one of the few people that was on the original forums while the email format they talk about in the video was still in use before the awbw system came up. Basically only ever had like 2 games going at a time, maybe, because they were such a pain in the neck to actually try to play through. The forum was mainly just random chatter by and large with maybe a dozen people on the site. Amarriner had been MIA for ages (in retrospect working on the awbw system, and school in general). And then suddenly he showed up and went "hey I got this thing now, let's see how it works." Obviously it worked pretty darn well. He also tried to have a fire emblem by web at the time, but it was meant to be a multiplayer thing, and could never really get it to work on a way that felt fair, so it never went anywhere. It's insane really how much has changed since back then. Kudos to the ones that updated everything since then, especially to get rid of all the refreshes. Trying to do that on DSL back then was a nightmare.
Bless, it's even wild to imagine awbw has had this much growth during the announcement of the reboot alone. Even Tinywars been getting some extra people, and it's uber tiny by comparison. I imagine the same can be said for Commander Wars and DefendPeace, but i haven't played those ones yet.
i can't believe this community existed since 2005! I have been a major fan of this game but i had no idea there was an online community playing this game competitive, wish i found out earlier. I'm very excited for the new game!
Advance Wars is really simple to learn the basics and play, but you can develop amazing strategies around different maps and COs that make it feel like a unique experience every time.
With Re-Boot Camp finally on it's way, it's nice to see Advance Wars get some attention through videos like this. I'm awful at SRPG's so I've never thought about Advance Wars' Esport scene (though was aware of it's competitive viability from channels I watch) but I'm sure this will be fascinating to learn about. 1:49 - Oh, so are we implying it's the first Advance Wars with an Esport scene here. I figured such a thing would be owed more to Days of Ruin entries thanks to it's online connectivity (but I suppose that entry doesn't carry over the cast of characters built up from the first three games). 4:34 - Oh my gosh; the site certainly shows it's age here. Fans were truly eager to play against each other if sending email screenshots was how they were going about it. 9:06 - I do like this bridge heavy map on screen. It was fun to just mess about with the map maker in these Advance Wars games. 15:00 - I do wonder how this web format version existing will effect Re-Boot Camp's popularity. Re-Boot Camp's announcement helped boost this Advance Wars Web, but if the Switch Re-Boot Camp has stable online, will many of those new web players migrate over to Re-Boot Camp. Supporting the official remake and potentially encouraging future Advance Wars game would obviously be a good thing, as much as this web thing is cool and great in keeping the fandom active.
